Chapter Twenty-Eight-Needs.
ADONIS’S POINT OF VIEW
When she ran out of here, I have to admit I was shocked. I heard her voice shake. But why? Did I say something wrong?
And why the fuck am I preoccupied with her well-being? The woman wants to kill me, for fuck’s sake!
But she doesn’t do it.
She’s nice, funny, and has a sexy voice.
Fuck me!
Trying to understand this woman, I grew tired and, I suppose, fell asleep. I wake up when I feel a hand gently shaking my shoulder, accompanied by a low, soothing voice calling my name. It’s like a calming whisper—so soft and honeyed that, for a moment, I thought I had died and gone to Heaven, and I was with an angel. But then I remember I’m not in Heaven; I’m with a demoness who wants to kill me.
“Adonis… Adonis, wake up, please.”
“I’m awake. What’s wrong?”
"Nothing. I just wanted to let you know that I’m heading out for a little while. Oh, wait a second. I’ll be right back." I hear the sound of fast steps, then the door opening and closing.
Time to die? No, she asked me if I needed something.
God, I don’t understand anything anymore.
After a few minutes, I hear her again, and I feel her putting something on me.
A blanket?
Then she pulls my head forward and puts something soft against the back of my head.
A pillow?
What the fuck is going on?
My questions are paused when her hot breath hits my ear and her perfume invades my nostrils.
It’s a fucking aphrodisiac. To describe it in a few words it's impossible. It's as complex as she is.
It has a razor’s edge—dark and intoxicating, sharp as crushed black pepper and smoky leather, with just a hint of cold jasmine hiding beneath the surface.
It's the kind of fragrance that whispers danger, wrapped in silk, leaving a trail that unsettles and seduces all at once. It speaks of midnight streets, whispered secrets, and deadly intent. An invisible signature that marked her presence long after she was gone.
The scents combined travel to my sleepy brain and take control of my body. My muscles tense, my stomach contracts, and my dick thickens against my pants.
Fucking fuck!
“Okay, better. When I come back, we’ll think of something to make you more comfortable. Okay?” she says in a sweet voice, and I pull on the cuffs with the intent of pulling her into my lap and running my hands all over her body, but then I realize what the actual fuck I want to do and calm down, willing my blood to go back to my brain.
“Okay...?” I trail off, confused.
“What’s wrong?” She sounds almost worried. Why the fuck would she be worried?
Good Lord, I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. Well, what's left of it.
“Nothing… just that, you’re confusing. One moment you press the gun against my head, then you are feeding me, then you point the gun at my head again, then we are talking, and might I say, having a good time. Too good considering the situation. Then you run off, I suppose, angry. Then you come and bring me a pillow and a blanket, and then you tell me that we’ll find something more comfortable. I mean… you know what I mean?” I finish my rant and wait for an explanation, but she’s quiet, and her breathing is shaky. I don’t say anything, though, hoping she’ll tell me what the fuck is going on.
“It’s complicated, Adonis. You wouldn’t understand.” Her voice is apologetic, a fact that confuses me even more.
“Try me.”
“No, Adonis. It’s better this way.” I have to admit, my name tastes different on her tongue each time, but every time I like it.
Sometimes she's whispering it softly, like a secret meant only for me, fragile and full of promise, none harmful as they should be in our current situation.
Then it's the way that sends shivers down my spine, and not for reasons it should. When it snaps sharply and angrily, clipped like a warning I can’t ignore.
Another way is when it falls heavy and commanding, thick with authority and possession, making me ache to obey, and not because I fear death.
Finally, it breaks into a raw, pleading cry, desperate and vulnerable—every syllable pulling me closer, unraveling me completely, confusing me even more. Why? I don't know for sure.
“You keep saying my name. I want to know yours.” I try my luck.
“Aaaa nope.” She pops the p, sounding like a little girl. Cute.
“Why? You said you’ll kill me, so what’s the problem? It’s not like I would tell someone.”
“Sorry, Adonis, but I can’t.” Her tone now lacks confidence, revealing vulnerability that’s unexpectedly charming and adorable.
See? See what I was talking about?
She's my fucking death!
“Then please tell me what’s keeping you from killing me because I’m going nuts trying to figure all this out. You are so nice, and… fuck!” I sigh in frustration.
“Enough!” Her voice changes completely; maybe she is crazy. I know for sure I am, because once again, my body reacts in a way it definitely shouldn't.
Anyway, I think I hit a nerve. Okay, then. Back to how we were before.
“Yes, boss. What were you saying before? That you’ll go somewhere?”
“Yes. Now, be a good boy, and don’t make me shoot you!” I like her dominance. I don’t like anybody else’s dominance, but hers... she has some extra something.
As I was saying...
“I’m always a good boy.”
“I don’t know why, but I doubt that.”
“You got me there.” Why the fuck do I enjoy talking to her? She is MY DEATH! Literally!
If she’s not crazy, then you definitely are.
A voice in my head adds, making me roll my eyes.
I already knew that, so you can shut it!
“Do you need something before I go?”
“Yes,” I say, and try to suppress my smile.
Let’s have some fun.
“What?”
“I need to pee,” I say, and her breath hitches, then stops.
I think I broke her.
