Chapter 164. Tons of gold

Chapter 164. Tons of gold

Alana

“You two should stop making out and come see the thing that arrived for you,” Wallace said, still in his selfless way.

“It's really huge; you have to see it,” Toby said, smiling and holding hands with his mate.

Sedrik and I looked at each other and followed our friends. When we arrived at the outside area of Sedrik's castle, there was a whole carriage with many freight cars. Since the carriage had stopped in the middle of the square, it had caught the attention of all the people who were there at that time working and doing their duties, as there was a lot of work to do at that time because of construction in the city.

“What must this be? Could it be inextricably linked with more suffering for us?” The people asked each other, looking worried.

It was understandable since the people were suffering a lot these days, so anyone could kind of understand that they were finally afraid of anything suspicious coming close to Alcantara.

The coachman driving the carriage, a witch, approached us and headed towards me and Sedrik. He kneeled and held out his hands to Sedrik. “I came in the name of my prince Emory, my lord. I hope you receive me in peace,” said the man, still holding a scroll for Sedrik.

“Relax; if you come in peace, I won’t do you any harm,” my husband said, taking the parchment. He read it quickly, then looked at me with a raised eyebrow. I also raised an eyebrow as I looked at him without understanding what he was trying to say.

Then he said loudly, “It seems that my wife has already found a way to solve our problems here; apparently we have enough money to buy a new city if we want!” He said that, making me gasp. So, that means Emory kept his promise!

“Allow me to show you, my lord,” the commissioner said. “My prince is very sorry for the foul behavior he had towards your people, and as part of this apology, he sent these three wagons full of pure gold; each wagon represents a ton, and he is paying you three tons of gold as a form to ask for peace between our two kingdoms so that there may be peace and prosperity between the two kingdoms.”

“Three tons of gold..?” Toby babbled.

"Holly shit!" Wallace almost passed out.

"I can't even fucking breathe!" That was Gwendol.

The people were murmuring about it and were shocked too.

My husband ordered his men to open the tons there, wanting to make sure that what the witch had said was actually the gold that was inside.

His men checked and then confirmed for him that it really was gold.

I laughed, not believing what was happening. That one was simply incredible, and it really came in handy since my husband and I really don't have the means to pay for the reconstruction of the entire city, but with that much gold, we can buy everything we need to restore the city on top of that to make it much bigger and much more attractive than it was.

We could also shelter several other wolves who lived wildly and nomadically because they didn't have places to live. We can do it differently this time.

Sedrik hugged me. “You are incredible, Alana. You are literally the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life and my pack's, and I am completely fulfilled by having you by my side,” he said to me, warming my heart.

Meanwhile, the people celebrated and laughed at each other; after all, no one was going to cry from now on.

At that moment, the people were singing my name and my husband's name, everyone happy with this great achievement. Of course, I was surprised to learn that Emory had actually fulfilled his end of the agreement, apparently he had really been scared of me after that line demonstrating my powers in front of everyone there.

Now he had decided not to confront me but rather to make an alliance with me and mine because he knew very well if he wanted to become my enemy that city of gold would turn into a lava of gold as I burned everything in front of me. .

I was happy to know that at least my powers were useful in keeping my husband's people, who were also mine now, safe and well.

Then there was a wolf-style party for several days in a row. The people were happy while building the city, now no one would suffer anymore as the kingdom's coffers were completely full of gold. Alcantara returned to its former glory when my husband's kingdom was still prosperous and beautiful, before the usurper took possession and left this place in the dust, once again attracting the attention of all the other packs that were around.

What was more pleasurable were children running from one place to another, playing happily and fulfillingly. It was true that younger people were growing up in an environment with a determined and bright future ahead of them. I want to see all the people able to support themselves, and the sadness dissipating.

Sedrik and I could be sure that we were doing a good job.
