Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Moira frowned. "What?"

She really hadn't expected that after all Scarlett's beating around the bush, she'd finally come out with such a question.

All the mental prep she'd done was completely useless, leaving her feeling a bit defeated.

Jessica, she did know. They were schoolmates when they studied abroad.

Moira thought for a moment and replied, "From what I remember, she was a pretty decent person. We went to the same high school, and she did well academically. She was also generous, often doing charity work with her mom."

Scarlett nodded.

She wasn't even sure why she had asked such a question.

Was she worrying about Alexander?

That was totally unnecessary.

But she couldn't help asking.

However, hearing from Moira that Jessica was a good person did ease some of her anxiety.

Someone like that, standing by Alexander's side, made her feel more at ease.

Seeing the change in her expression, Moira couldn't help but ask, "Is there anything else you want to say?"

Scarlett forced a smile and finally went along with her, "Alright, did you hear about what happened from Tammy?"

Moira nodded, looking worried. "Sebastian pushing this trouble into the crew is a bit much. If you find it hard to deal with, we can talk to the Black Group again. There's no need to put yourself through this."

"What do you mean, pushing trouble? The Black Group's investment is all thanks to Sebastian's efforts," Scarlett shook her head.

"Besides, I'm just doing my job. Emma doesn't have the ability to disgust me, don't worry."

"But..."

Moira clearly wanted to say more, but Scarlett interrupted her, "Alright, I know you're worried about my relationship with Alexander being affected. There's nothing to be afraid of. Alexander is a professional; he won't make things difficult for me because of this."

Hearing this, Moira finally felt relieved. She patted her chest, looking like she had just escaped a scare.

"You have no idea, when Tammy came to tell me that Emma brought Jessica over, I was scared to death. What if these two start causing trouble together?"

One was a nominal rival in love, the other a real one.

Scarlett raised an eyebrow.

Causing trouble?

Indeed, causing trouble.

But Emma didn't have the guts to stir up much.

She raised her glass to Moira, signaling for a toast.

The whiskey provided by the restaurant burned all the way down, easing the discomfort in her chest.

Scarlett refilled her glass, smiling at Moira. "Should we give Tammy a heads-up?"

Moira understood immediately.

She dialed the phone, her voice sickly sweet, "Hey Tammy, come pick up Scarlett and me from the restaurant near the office later."

"We're not leaving until we're drunk!"

—

With the casting for the new project wrapped up, Evan's big show was officially entering the countdown phase.

Just after lunch, Tammy led a beautiful woman to Scarlett's door.

Scarlett's eyes lit up when she saw who it was. She immediately put down her work and got up to hug the visitor.

It was Evan's blonde, blue-eyed, and stunningly attractive secretary, Judy Ross.

Since their official meeting at Evan's place, Judy had joined the song production at Evan's request, giving them plenty of opportunities to interact.

Judy had also provided many valuable suggestions during the songwriting process.

Scarlett had always had a good impression of capable people.

She quickly invited Judy to sit, offering coffee and cookies.

Judy waved her off. "Thanks, but I can't stay long today. I gotta head back after we talk. There's still a ton to handle before Friday."

Scarlett pushed the coffee towards her. "It won't take long to have a cup of coffee. I just got these new beans, give them a try?"

Judy leaned in to smell the coffee, the aroma indeed enticing.

She pulled a few invitations from her bag and placed them on the table, sliding them towards Scarlett.

"I came specifically to deliver these invitations. Evan prepared VIP seats for you. You gotta come and see Aria's stunning performance."

Scarlett's hands trembled slightly.

These were VIP seats for Evan's annual show.

As a globally renowned designer, Evan's shows were a must-see for high society from all over the world. VIP seats were always in high demand, often sold out well in advance.

She thanked Judy sincerely, "Thank you so much, Judy."

"We've had a great collaboration," Judy shrugged, her eyes gleaming with joy. "With Evan now based in Phoenix City, we'll have many more opportunities to work together."

Scarlett nodded emphatically.

If SM could secure a strong partnership with Evan, their artists' fashion resources would significantly improve, which was crucial for SM at this stage.

Just as Judy had said, she didn't have much time to stay.

Despite her love for coffee, she couldn't ignore her constantly buzzing phone.

Judy glanced at the messages, showing Scarlett the 99+ notifications with a wry smile. "Looks like I'll have to try your coffee next time."

Given the situation, Scarlett couldn't insist on her staying.

She personally saw Judy out.

Returning, she couldn't help but walk with a spring in her step.

That was Evan!

She couldn't help but imagine the fantastic fashion resources SM could secure through this collaboration!

Such good news couldn't be kept to herself.

Scarlett took the invitations to find Moira.

Moira was working, but Scarlett's excited demeanor was hard to miss. "Did you win the lottery?"

Lottery?

Scarlett thought for a moment and nodded. "Pretty much."

Now Moira was intrigued.

She focused, trying to guess, but came up empty. She ran over to pester Scarlett, "What's the good news? Don't keep me in suspense!"

She threatened and tickled Scarlett.

Scarlett laughed uncontrollably, finally giving in. "Alright, I'll tell you!"

"Remember Evan's request to collaborate with Aria?"

Seeing Moira nod, Scarlett continued, "The collaboration went extremely well! Evan sent over some VIP invitations today and expressed interest in continuing to work together."

Moira, though from a wealthy family, had limited interest in fashion. Even a big name like Evan was just a name to her.

She knew it was good news, but how was it comparable to winning the lottery?

Moira didn't quite get it.

Seeing her lukewarm reaction, Scarlett was dissatisfied.

She grabbed Moira's shoulders and shook her. "This is Evan! Evan! The renowned designer who skyrocketed to fame after leaving a luxury brand!"

"If we can secure a partnership with him, we won't have to worry about our artists' fashion resources anymore. This is the biggest support we could get right now!"

Moira finally understood.

"That's... really impressive."

But why did that name sound so unsettling?
