Chapter 32
Chapter 32
Rika
She leaned against Jay’s shoulder as she listened to Merlot’s orders to the others. She was grateful that she had been dismissed. She wanted to be alone with Jay. She needed to explain why she hadn’t come home. Jay kissed her hand.
“Do you want to go for a walk?” He murmured.
She nodded, letting him lead her toward the forest. Once they got a good distance away, Jay stopped to turn toward her.
“So, you’re a harpy?”
She nodded shyly, rubbing her arm with her hand as she lowered her head. “Yeah.”
“Can I meet her?”
Her head snapped up so she could look into his eyes. “You’re not upset I’m a shifter?”
He smiled at her. “No, baby. You’re still perfect to me.”
Havana took over, twittering in their mind as she shifted to stand in front of him proudly. Jay walked around her slowly, taking in every new inch of her body.
“What’s your name?” He asked.
“Havana.”
“Do you want to fly with me?”
Havana nodded. “I’d really like to meet Loy.”
He stopped in front of her with his eyebrow raised. “You know about Loy?”
She nodded again. “Rika talks a lot about you and your dragon.”
He ran his hand over her head and down her back, making her shudder in pleasure before looking up at him. He took a step back to shift; his huge black dragon pawed at the ground in front of them, tossing his head back. Havana began to flutter around him, lightly running her talons across his scales, earning a low rumble from his chest. She flittered around his head for a moment before skyrocketing into the sky.
He followed her rapidly, spinning around her and brushing against her body. She spun with him, keeping his face in her sight. When his wings finally wrapped around her as they started plummeting back to earth, she shifted back, nuzzling into his chest for a moment until he shifted back to hold her in his arms while his wings came out to gently carry them to the ground. As soon as they landed, Jay kissed her, moving his hands over her body.
“Goddess, Rika, I thought I had lost you. I went crazy when we realized you were missing.”
“I’m sorry, Jay. I-”
He picked her up, turning to put her against a tree, furiously kissing down her neck. “Oh, my beautiful Rika, you are so incredible.”
His hands moved over their bodies again, melting their clothes off as her legs wrapped around his waist. He wasted no time thrusting into her, making her body arch as he filled her.
“Jay,” she moaned breathlessly.
“Don’t! Ever! Leave! Me! Again!” He growled, punctuating each word with a hard, deep thrust.
She clawed at his back. “I promise. Don’t stop!”
Their movements sped up as they rushed in sync toward their orgasms. When her pussy gripped his cock tightly, he groaned as he ground against the back of her pussy. He held her up until her legs quit shaking. He slowly pulled out of her before he magicked clothes back onto their bodies. Rika nervously shifted her weight.
“Before we go back, can I mark you?”
He broke out into a grin. “Yes. I thought you’d never ask. How do you do it?”
“Kind of like a dragon. Havana has to sink her talons into you.”
Jay removed his shirt immediately. She quickly shifted before lifting her feathered leg to grip his left shoulder, sinking her talons into his skin. He let out a hiss of pain.
“Ouch.”
Rika giggled as Havana shifted back. Jay put his shirt back on before taking her hand again.
“Come on. Merlot linked. They’re ready to go.”
She walked by his side, terrified of the unknown that was to come. He kissed her hand as he stopped just inside the treeline.
“Rika, listen to me; I’m going to make you invisible. You need to stay out of sight. Only heal people; do not fight. We cannot risk you getting taken. Stay close to me.”
She nodded. “Okay.”
“Good girl. I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
He picked her up, swiftly walking through the portal that was still open. They landed just as Merlot held his fist up, telling them to hold. As soon as he dropped his fist, yelling for them to spread out, Jay shifted at her side as Havana took over. She flew up to land on his back, curling her talons into him as he leapt into the fray, snatching up multiple people at a time. He chewed them up before spitting their corpses back out and moving on to the next group of people. Havana kept scanning the field, searching for any of their family members who might be injured.
She saw Joyce get attacked, but before she could move, Keith and Jenna launched themselves to her defense.
She turned her head to scan the field, and a scream drew her attention. Jackie’s and Rose’s dragons were surrounded by vampires, demons, and witches who were firing spells at them endlessly, backing them away from the battle. Rose’s dragon kept forcing Jackie’s dragon back. One of the vampires picked up a demon, launching him through the air toward Jackie’s dragon with a large spear in his hands. Rose’s dragon jumped in front of Jackie, taking the spear through the heart as it melted her scales away. Several angry roars sounded across the field as Rose’s dragon collapsed on the ground.
Havana leapt off of Loy’s back, flapping her wings furiously in her rush to get to Rose, while Jackie and Aiden, who had immediately rushed to their side, tore through the people around them. Havana ripped four feathers off her legs to squeeze the oils out of them into the large gaping wound in Rose’s unbeating heart, while Rika sobbed in her head.
“WE NEED FIRE! SHE’S NOT HEALING!”
Aiden shoved Jackie over to her to breathe her fire on Rose while Havana tore even more feathers out to use their oil. Rose’s heart started to beat before stopping.
“Again!” Havana ordered, dripping more oil into the wound. “Come on, Rose. You can’t die.”
Rose’s heart started to beat again as the wound slowly began to heal. Aiden Junior’s dragon roared as he tried to catch another demon that was flung into the air, but he missed. Havana launched herself into the air, tearing into the demon with her talons and taking him up into the sky before dropping him for Aiden Junior to eat. She landed back on Rose to add a few more drops to her wound to speed up the healing before leaving Jackie and Aiden to protect her as Havana flew rapidly toward Jay, who had a spear sticking out of his shoulder.
She pulled it out before healing him. He sent a stream of fire over his shoulder to surround her. Havana began to scan the field again, amazed at the way the mates of her family worked in efficient teams to quickly eradicate the enemy. Another scream drew her attention, and she quickly started heading toward Lily as she was forced to shift back to her human form while Lukas struggled to get back to her. Lily backed away from a group of 6 men who approached her threateningly.
The one in the front held a syringe in his hands, brandishing it around as he screamed at her. Havana flapped her wings, letting herself lift off of Loy’s back again to head toward Lily. The man lunged at Lily, and she jumped back, barely avoiding the needle. A growl came from her left, and she looked over to see Keith’s tiger sprinting toward Lily. The air wavered around Lily as her hair began to float behind her. Her eyes turned crimson, making the demon in front of her even more gleeful. He let out a screech that had dozens of other demons coming to their aid.
Lukas’s dragon managed to break free of the multitude of people around him to rush toward Lily, easily cutting through the demons from the back as Keith and Havana tore at them from the side while Lily kept trying to avoid the needle. The front demon sent out another screech. Two of the demons at his side rushed forward, managing to pin Lily’s arms to her sides. Tears filled her eyes, and Havana started tearing through the demons faster in a desperate attempt to get to Lily. The demon with the syringe approached Lily, taunting her while she struggled.
“Please, no,” Lily sobbed.
The demon lunged for her just as Keith’s tiger leapt over the few demons between him and Lily. The syringe was plunged into his side. An agonized scream came from across the field as Keith shifted back, sinking to his knees. He looked up at Lily.
“Protect my mates…”
His voice faded off as his body began to disintegrate into ash that floated away with the wind. Everything froze for a moment before fire whipped around the field, immediately incinerating everything but their family and friends. Havana looked around, shocked, before landing as she shifted back. Before she could move, Shadow sank to her knees, sobbing.
“Keith.”
