Chapter 151 Repeated Comeuppances
Chapter 151 Repeated Comeuppances
She pressed the remote control in her hand, and the large screen immediately switched to chat records and transaction records.
Olivia used the screen's red cursor to highlight key information, patiently explaining to the entire audience.
"These are chat records extracted by police from Mr. Jagger Ortiz's phone. Since this whole thing involved me, the police contacted me, and I kept a backup copy."
"What's recorded here shows that he worked with the kidnappers to plan this kidnapping. Their target was to hold Hestia and Martin hostage, force me to personally deliver the ransom, and they had already decided to kill me once I arrived at the exchange location."
Olivia's voice wasn't loud, but it instantly caused a huge stir at the scene.
Hiring someone to commit murder was no small matter.
Even the powerful Ortiz family absolutely couldn't ignore and trample the law like this.
Audience members pulled out their phones, frantically taking photos of the screen as evidence. No one wanted to miss this major plot twist.
Olivia didn't stop them. Instead, she played another new video.
This video completely recorded the entire process of Hestia and Martin's kidnapping.
The footage clearly showed that after Hestia brought Martin to the amusement park, she gave him a few brief instructions, then left him alone in the crowded park area.
Even more outrageous, after discovering Martin was missing, she neither told Ethan nor called the police right away. Instead, she calmly touched up her makeup, then leisurely walked out of the amusement park and got into a van parked by the roadside without any struggle.
"No! This isn't true!"
Hestia's whole body shook violently as she desperately tried to defend herself at the top of her lungs.
But no matter how much she screamed, she couldn't stop the questioning, contemptuous looks from the surrounding audience.
Even Ethan stared at her in shock.
"Hestia, is this true? Did you really orchestrate this kidnapping?"
"No!"
Hestia shrilly denied it, her face looking terrible.
She immediately reined in her hostility, put on a pitiful and helpless expression, reached out to grab Ethan's sleeve and choked up.
"Ethan, even you don't believe me? How could I possibly do such a thing? It's Olivia—she deliberately fabricated evidence to turn us against each other!"
"What about this video? Is that also manipulation?"
Olivia's cold voice suddenly rang out.
Hestia jerked her head up to see the screen switch again.
This time it showed surveillance footage from inside the villa.
The surveillance clearly captured servants repeatedly reminding Hestia that Martin was severely allergic to nuts, yet she insisted on spreading nut butter into the cake, personally handed it to Martin, and watched him eat it and have an allergic reaction.
Hestia's pupils shrank suddenly. She froze in place, panic written all over her face.
"That was... I didn't know he was allergic..."
She instinctively tried to deflect, but everyone had seen all her actions clearly—there was no room for excuses.
At this point, even Ethan, who had always favored and protected her, was completely speechless.
Hestia's face turned ashen. Her whole body went limp as she collapsed to the ground.
Just then, two police officers walked quickly onto the stage, holding their badges.
"Ms. Sharp, you're suspected of participating in planning a kidnapping case. All the kidnappers involved have been arrested. Please cooperate with us and come to the police station to give a statement. Also, the explosion case caused by this kidnapping has a final investigation result. After genetic database comparison, the deceased has been confirmed to be Jagger from the Ortiz Group. We've already notified the Ortiz family."
The officer's words were like a bombshell, instantly stunning everyone present.
All color drained from Hestia's face. She collapsed on the ground like mud, completely losing the strength to struggle.
"Jagger? How could..."
She muttered to herself in a daze, but a fear she seemed to have anticipated all along surged in her heart.
Ethan's face also turned deathly pale in an instant.
He reached out and grabbed Hestia by the collar, demanding harshly, "You said before that Jagger had a fight with his family and went abroad to clear his head? Why are the police saying he's already dead?"
Hestia was roughly pulled up by him. Her body kept trembling, her words broken and stuttering, her eyes filled with extreme fear.
"I thought... I thought he was afraid the truth would come out, so he secretly ran away..."
She spoke incoherently, then suddenly grabbed Ethan's clothes desperately and begged.
"Ethan, I really didn't know things would turn out like this. Ethan, you have to help me!"
Just as Ethan was about to speak, someone suddenly rushed in through the auditorium door—it was Regina, looking completely deranged.
She stumbled into the venue, immediately locked eyes on Hestia being held by Ethan, and lunged at her like a madwoman.
"Bitch! Give me back my son's life!"
Regina's eyes were bloodshot, her hair disheveled. She'd clearly suffered a huge shock and completely lost her mind.
Before the audience could react, she grabbed Hestia's hair tightly and slammed her head hard against the ground.
"Ah!"
Hestia let out a piercing scream, struggling desperately to resist.
Only then did the people around snap out of it and rush forward to pull Regina away.
By now, Hestia's makeup was ruined, messy hair stuck to her sweat-covered face, blood continuously seeping from the wound on her forehead where she'd been hit. She looked both pathetic and miserable.
Regina was held firmly by several people but continued to curse hysterically.
"Damn bitch! You killed my son! I want you to pay with your life!"
Her sharp, angry curses echoed throughout the entire auditorium.
Hestia curled up in Ethan's arms, pretending to be fragile as she sobbed, still desperately trying to shift the blame to Olivia.
"Mrs. Ortiz, it's not my fault! It's Olivia! She's the one who killed Jagger!"
She was only focused on crying and making excuses, completely failing to notice Ethan's body instantly stiffen, his eyes filled with disbelief and disappointment.
"If Olivia hadn't insisted on not delivering the ransom, Jagger wouldn't have died at all. It's all her fault! Olivia is the one who should die!"
Ethan looked down at this woman in his arms—fragile on the outside, vicious on the inside—his gaze strange, as if seeing her true nature for the first time.
Regina, who was being restrained, turned livid with rage after hearing this excuse.
"You're talking nonsense! Don't think no one can see through your schemes! My son wouldn't have provoked Olivia if it weren't for you, you bitch, manipulating and instigating him from behind!"
She suddenly broke partially free, pulled out her phone, and threw it hard at Hestia's face.
"This phone is full of chat records of you instigating my son to stand up for you! You're such a snowflake with a hidden agenda! Olivia minded her own business, yet you slandered and schemed against her in every way! You toy with Ethan and corrupt my son. Two men are doing evil deeds just to stand up for you!"
Regina completely lost control of her emotions, wanting nothing more than to rush up and tear apart the person in front of her.
Hestia was hit by the phone and felt dizzy. After coming to her senses and hearing these words, she instantly broke down screaming, frantically throwing the phone far away.
"That's not true! I didn't! These are all fake! I never did any of these things!"
She curled up into a ball with her head in her hands, panicked and guilty. All her pretenses crumbled.
Olivia quietly watched this absurd scene unfold before her, a cold smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
She thought to herself, 'Hestia, you're best at hiding behind others, using people to charge ahead for you and deal with your opponents. This time, I'd like to see how you can clear your name and escape.'
