Chapter 179 Nora’s True Feelings

Chapter 179 Nora’s True Feelings

Back at Murphy Villa, Nora trembled with rage. The servants saw her stormy expression as she crossed the threshold and immediately shrank into corners, heads bowed, barely daring to breathe.

The moment she entered the living room, she grabbed a vase and hurled it to the floor.

But that wasn't enough. She smashed everything within reach—shattered porcelain and glass littered the carpet.

Then she seized another vase and flung it at a maid cowering by the staircase. "What are you staring at? Get out! All of you!"

The servants scattered in terror.

Only her ragged breathing filled the room.

When Raymond returned, he was greeted by a landscape of destruction.

The instant Nora spotted him, all her grievances and fury found an outlet.

She rushed over and grabbed his arm, her voice shrill.

"Raymond! How could you treat me like that? Do you have any idea how many people were there today? Do you know what they'll think of me now? You humiliated me in front of everyone—for that bitch Jocelyn! You made me lose face completely!"

Her agitation mounted, tears of anger and hurt welling in her eyes. "I'm your fiancée! You took her side in front of all those people. How am I supposed to face society now? How can I hold my head up in the Murphy family? What will those ladies think of me?"

Raymond glanced down at her hand on his arm, his expression icy.

"Why did you go to the Ross estate in the first place?"

Nora froze, her voice faltering. "I... I just wanted to see you!"

Raymond let out a cold laugh. "Jocelyn never invited you. You forced your way in."

His gaze grew colder. "So you embarrassed yourself. That's got nothing to do with anyone else."

Nora's eyes instantly brimmed with tears.

She clutched his hand tighter, stepping closer. "Why did I go? Because of you! Raymond, I'm your fiancée, but why do you always treat me like this? Why do you ignore me? Why do you defend that bitch Jocelyn? What am I to you?"

Her sobs grew more pitiful. "I'm supposed to be your fiancée, but you only have eyes for her... Why? Why are you doing this to me?"

She pressed her forehead against his arm, crying bitterly.

But Raymond didn't comfort her as he used to. If anything, he found her theatrics irritating.

"You still refuse to set a wedding date," she choked out, her voice dropping to a wounded whisper. "Everyone's laughing at me behind my back, saying I'm nothing but a placeholder."

She wiped her tears, her tone softening further. "Is it... because I lost the baby? Is that why you don't want to marry me anymore?"

At this, she seemed to crumple, leaning limply against him, sobbing as if her heart would break.

"I know losing that child hurt you... but it was my baby too. I've lost everything now—my career, my reputation... If you abandon me too, I might as well be dead..."

Even as she spoke, she stole glances at his reaction.

In the past, the slightest hint of depression from her would stir his guilt and concern. She'd always used it to manipulate him.

But this time, there was no pity in his eyes.

His gaze was cold as ice.

He looked down at her, slowly raised his other hand, gripped her wrist, and pried her fingers off his arm one by one.

The gesture left Nora frozen. She stared at him in disbelief. "Raymond..."

"Nora." His voice was low and flat. "Do you really have depression?"

"What... what are you saying? Of course I—"

Raymond tightened his grip on her wrist, his eyes sharp as he leaned in. She instinctively stepped back.

"If it weren't for that accident—if you hadn't saved my life—I would never have agreed to marry you."

The blunt words hit her like a slap.

"What?" This time, her shock was genuine. "Raymond..."

"I've already given you the title of Mrs. Murphy. Don't expect anything more."

Nora's mouth opened, but no words came. Her throat felt stuffed with cotton. "You..."

He released her wrist, his tone devoid of emotion. "Stop provoking Jocelyn. Or don't blame me for forgetting old favors."

As he turned to leave, Nora grabbed his hand again, eyes red. "How can you treat me like this for that bitch Jocelyn? You—"

Before she could finish, Raymond yanked his hand away.

Already unsteady, Nora staggered backward and fell onto the carpet.

Raymond didn't even glance at her. He simply turned and headed upstairs.

She sat there, staring blankly at his retreating figure.

Only after he disappeared on the second floor did Nora collapse fully, her sobs turning into hysterical laughter.

She glared at the staircase, her eyes turning dark and venomous.

Why? After everything I've done, after all I've sacrificed, his eyes still only see Jocelyn!

Lucy hesitated, then cautiously approached and bent down to help her up. "Ms. Watson, please get up. The floor is cold—"

Before she could finish, Nora's hand shot out and slapped her hard across the face.

Lucy stumbled, clutching her cheek as it turned bright red.

Nora pushed herself up and loomed over the maid, her expression twisted with malice. "Get out! All of you, get out!!"

She kicked aside a shard of porcelain, grabbed her handbag from the sofa, and stormed toward the door.

The door slammed shut behind her.

Only wreckage remained in the living room.

"Jocelyn! You bitch!"

Nora floored the gas pedal. Her Maybach tore down the highway.

Her knuckles whitened as she gripped the steering wheel, fury blazing in her eyes.

"I'll make you beg for death!"

She snatched up her phone and dialed. "Hello! I need to see you. Now!"

She hung up and slammed the accelerator again.

Eventually, the Maybach pulled up in front of a luxury apartment building. Nora strode inside and took the elevator up with practiced ease.

She unlocked one of the units.

Before she could even turn on the lights, she was pulled into a firm embrace.

A low, teasing voice murmured in her ear. "Baby, calling me out of the blue like this—did you miss me? Let's take a shower together."

Nora didn't pull away. Instead, she leaned into him, her voice dripping with false grievance.

"Brian, I've been bullied so badly this time. You have to help me get even..."
