Chapter 66
Elena stood outside the restaurant, arms crossed, watching Vivienne through the glass walls. She smirked, enjoying how restless the woman looked. This was exactly what she wanted—pure mental torture. She wanted Vivienne to feel like she was on the verge of losing her mind. And before the day was over, that was exactly what would happen.
Pulling out her phone, she dialed Kennedy’s number. He picked up immediately.
“It’s time, Kennedy,” she said with a satisfied grin. “Everything ends today.”
“Alright, we’ll be there soon,” Kennedy replied.
Hanging up, Elena walked into the restaurant, her heels clicking against the polished floor. The moment she stepped in, Vivienne’s eyes met hers, and Elena relished the horror in them.
Grinning, she gave a small wave before sitting across from her. “Hey, sis. Relax a little, will you? Unless you want people to start staring.”
Vivienne didn’t bother hiding her anger. She glared at Elena like she wanted to set her on fire.
“When will you leave us alone, Elena? What did I ever do to you that made you so determined to ruin my life?” she snapped.
Elena rolled her eyes and picked up the menu, flipping through it as if she wasn’t being confronted. “You didn’t even bother ordering a drink for me. So selfish, as always.”
Vivienne yanked the menu from her hands and slammed it onto the table. Elena chuckled.
“I see someone’s in a bad mood today,” Elena teased. “But I must say, I’m impressed you actually listened to me and showed up. Good job, Vivienne.”
“Don’t you dare call me that,” Vivienne hissed. “Why am I here? What do you want? Or are you planning to burn me alive like you did to Mr. Adrian, you heartless monster?”
“Oh, that crossed my mind,” Elena said casually, tapping her chin. “But watching you suffer is much more satisfying. And by the way, my deepest condolences. Maybe in his next life, Adrian Thomas will learn to mind his own business.”
Vivienne’s lips parted like she wanted to say something, but before she could, Kennedy barged in with five men. They were the same ones Elena had hired days ago to take care of Vivienne once and for all.
Vivienne’s face paled as she looked from Elena to the armed men. Elena laughed. Everything was going even better than she had planned.
She made a little gun gesture with her fingers, giving the signal. Kennedy nodded and fired a bullet at the glass wall. The loud gunshot shattered the glass, sending shards flying everywhere. The restaurant erupted into screams and chaos.
People scrambled, trying to escape.
“If you don’t want to leave here in pieces, I suggest you all shut up and get on the ground!” Elena yelled. Instantly, the terrified customers obeyed, lying flat on the floor.
Bunch of cowards.
“You’re really going to hurt innocent people?” Vivienne whispered, her voice shaking. “They have nothing to do with this. Let them go, you lunatic.”
“I do what I want,” Elena shrugged, pulling a gun from her pocket and aiming it at Vivienne.
Vivienne surprised her by laughing. “Do you honestly think killing me will make Magnus yours? If anything, he’ll make sure you don’t live to see another day.”
“I don’t care what happens to me as long as I get rid of you first,” Elena said, pressing the gun to Vivienne’s forehead. “Now, get on your knees and put your hands up.”
Vivienne clenched her jaw but obeyed. “You are beyond saving, Elena. Even the best exorcists would fail at cleansing your evil soul.”
Her fear had turned into pure rage, and that irritated Elena. How dare Vivienne look at her like that?
“Oh, really?” Elena sneered. “Well, here’s a shocker—I don’t want to be saved. All I want is to see you dead.”
Vivienne didn’t respond. She stared at the floor, breathing heavily.
Annoyed, Elena grabbed her chin and forced her to look up. “When I talk, you listen.”
Vivienne struggled to pull away, so Elena slapped her hard with the gun. Blood trickled down her forehead.
“Answer me, you little pest,” Elena spat.
To her surprise, Vivienne chuckled, flashing her bloody teeth.
“I’ve had enough of your attitude,” Elena growled, pressing the gun to her forehead again. “Say hi to Adrian when you see him.”
Just as she was about to pull the trigger, gunshots rang out behind her. Bodies hit the floor.
Shocked, Elena turned to see about twenty policemen storming in with their weapons aimed at her.
Meanwhile, Kennedy and his men were already lying in pools of blood.
Damn it! She had wasted too much time talking. She should have shot Vivienne the moment she walked in.
She turned back to Vivienne, but before she could react, Vivienne snatched the gun from her and pointed it at her instead.
“Give me my gun, you brat!” Elena yelled.
One of the officers stepped forward. “Elena Marlowe, you are under arrest. I advise you to cooperate.”
“Oh, please,” Elena scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“You’re not getting a lawyer this time,” the officer continued. “Not after breaking out of prison.”
“Like I care!” Elena snapped, grabbing a chair and hurling it at them.
Vivienne didn’t flinch. “Do as they say, Elena. Or else.”
Elena smirked. “Or else what? You’re going to shoot me? Let’s be real, Vivienne. You don’t have the guts.”
Two officers started moving toward her.
Panic hit her. If they arrested her now, it was all over. No way was she letting that happen.
She shoved Vivienne aside, snatched the gun back, and shot at the officers. She managed to take down two, but before she could fire again, a sharp pain shot through her arm.
A bullet.
She screamed, dropping the gun as blood gushed from her wound.
“You’re finished, Elena Marlowe,” the officer who shot her said coldly.
Gritting her teeth, she spat, “This isn’t over! You won’t get away with this, Vivienne!”
Vivienne had already stepped behind the officers, completely out of reach.
No. This couldn’t be how it ended.
Desperate, Elena grabbed the gun again, aiming for Vivienne. But before she could fire, another bullet pierced her leg, sending her crashing to the ground.
She groaned in agony as an officer marched over and slapped a pair of handcuffs around her wrists.
As they dragged her outside, she spotted Eric standing by a police car, looking at her with a pained expression.
Her stomach dropped. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Eric sighed. “I reported you, Elena.”
Her heart pounded. “You… what?”
“The police were already after you because of Magnus, but I still turned you in,” Eric admitted. “I did it because I love you. I didn’t want you to lose yourself completely.”
Elena’s world spun. No. This wasn’t real.
But Eric was standing right in front of her.
“You traitorous dog!” she screamed, struggling against the officers. “I trusted you! How could you—”
Before she could finish, the officers shoved her into the car and slammed the door shut.
As the vehicle pulled away, Elena sat in the backseat, wrists bound, bloodied, and defeated.
And for the first time in her life… she knew she had lost.
