Chapter 91

Chapter 91

Aurora couldn't help but let some anger slip into her voice. "I've already refused. Can we please stop talking about this?"

Simon had always been like this.

He made every decision forcefully, and Aurora could only obey. Even when things didn't go her way, the most she could do was step back.

But actually, in all their years of marriage, Aurora had always supported Simon's decisions and accepted everything completely.

"Simon, I'm not hesitating anymore. We'll be getting divorced soon."

She had asked a good friend to be her lawyer, and all the necessary documents had been collected.

Even if it meant offending Simon, Aurora was determined to go through with this divorce.

Simon's face visibly darkened. "I don't agree with what you're saying."

"Even if you don't agree, I've already made up my mind. I agreed to one year initially, but Blair has been constantly provoking me lately, which has gone way beyond what I can handle."

After speaking, Aurora pushed open the car door.

This time Simon didn't reach out to stop her, as if he had seen the disgust on her face.

He gave a bitter smile. "I know telling you this suddenly, you won't agree."

"But I can give you time to prepare. Think it over carefully before deciding. We can postpone the move to a month from now. That'll give you enough time to hand over your work and pack up with Mia."

Simon said a few more things after that, something about the two of them.

But Aurora didn't hear any of it.

After such a draining day, she went back to stay at Mia's place that night.

During dinner, Mia suddenly brought up their situation. "Aurora, how are things between you two now?"

Aurora's hand holding the utensils paused. She looked up with a bland smile. "What do you mean, how are we?"

"If you really want a divorce, do it sooner rather than later."

Aurora wasn't surprised to hear these words from Mia.

Because Mia always knew exactly what she was thinking.

Mia let out a long sigh. "The favor they did finding doctors for me this time - that's my debt to repay. Once I'm feeling better, I'll do whatever they need."

"I can see you're really suffering right now. Even if you love Simon, your relationship can't withstand this much torment. If you should leave, then leave."

Aurora's tears started falling. "Mom, this is my problem. You don't need to worry."

"Divorcing him isn't that easy. I still want to try to resolve this in a way that's dignified for both of us."

Mia smiled. "Young people's relationships always have their ups and downs, but I don't want my daughter to suffer."

Aurora's heart stirred. "Mom, if I wanted to take you back to Skyview City to start over, would you be willing to go back?"

A flash of complex emotion crossed Mia's face, but it disappeared instantly.

Before Aurora could see it clearly, she only heard her adoptive mother reply, "I'll do whatever you want. If you don't want to stay in this city anymore, we'll go back."

"Our old house in the countryside is still there. The air is fresh, and we wouldn't have to deal with people. Even if you don't want to work for the rest of your life, you can just stay with me."

Aurora lost her appetite completely. She put down her chopsticks and gripped Mia's hand tightly.

The two looked at each other wordlessly for a long time, both with tears in their eyes.

The next morning when Aurora went to work, she was still thinking about Simon's suggestion.

Just then, Simon called again. Seeing the caller ID, Aurora hung up directly.

So he sent a few text messages instead.

Saying he was giving Aurora plenty of time to think. Today he had to make a trip to Skyview City to close a business deal.

It would probably take him two or three days to get back, and then he would ask Aurora for her decision.

For now, he was just laying the groundwork for the future - he'd go look at houses first.

Aurora put away her phone, took two deep breaths, but her steps involuntarily slowed.

She did want to go back to Skyview City, but not because she wanted to reconcile with Simon.

It was because the more she saw Mia suffering from illness, the more she could tell that Mia wanted to return to her homeland.

Or maybe leaving this whole circle and environment would help Aurora's state of mind return to normal.

But if she took Mia back at this point, Simon would definitely think this decision had something to do with him.

Staying or going back both seemed like a tug-of-war. Given Simon's personality, if they had to come back in the end, he might very well demand that Aurora drag Mia through all that trouble again.

At this thought, the part of Aurora's heart that had been moved felt like it had been doused with cold water, cooling instantly.

She should never have been swayed by any idea Simon proposed!

Aurora shook her head and quickened her pace, but the next second she heard hurried footsteps behind her.

Before she could turn around, a black shadow blocked her vision, and then she felt a sharp pain at the back of her neck.

Aurora passed out just like that.

Meanwhile, on the road to Skyview City.

Simon was leaning back in his seat with his eyes closed, his fingers lightly tapping his thigh.

Once he closed this deal, he would talk to Aurora again.

There wasn't no way forward for the two of them...

His phone suddenly rang. Simon opened his eyes, a cold light flashing in them.

Especially when he saw the caller ID, he became even more impatient. Still, he had to suppress his tone as he answered. "Jason, what is it?"

A mocking voice came from the other end. "I heard you're signing a big deal today. And then you're taking some capital and resources to Skyview City?"

When Jason spoke, he no longer sounded as refined as he did at home, but rather had a sinister, obsessive quality.

Simon remained silent. Jason wasn't in a hurry either. "I underestimated how much Yosef values you."

"Just so you can chase after a woman, he's willing to make such a big fuss. Back then, no amount of persuasion could get him to give up his shares, but now, just so you and Aurora can work things out, he's willing to transfer part of the business over there."

They say Skyview City is an important strategic location, but who doesn't know it's Aurora's adoptive mother's hometown.

It's also where Aurora grew up.

Yosef deliberately sent Simon there to help the two of them repair their relationship!

Simon's voice also turned cold. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"It's actually quite simple. Aurora is with me right now. As long as you give up signing this deal today, you can keep her safe."

Simon's grip on his phone immediately tightened. "What are you doing?"

"What am I doing? Haven't I already told you? How things develop is up to you now."

After saying this, Jason hung up directly.

His gaze shifted to the rearview mirror, looking at the woman tied up in the back seat, her face delicate yet radiant.

Even though Aurora was wearing a business suit, she had a unique charm about her.

And such a woman, excellent in every way, was willing to love Simon to this extent.

Sometimes Jason really was jealous.

His family was broken, and of course, he had never believed in true love.
