Chapter 154 Chapter 154 - Tide of Secrets
Adrielle Hale

The room's design is super modern, elegant, and minimalist. The designer used light tones like white, beige, and cream, creating an atmosphere of luxury and serenity. The room's shapes seem organic, with many smooth, curved lines, giving me a sense of fluidity typical of a yacht like this one.

Pedro and I are lying in bed, covered by a thin white sheet. The bed is large, with a slightly rounded shape. It's in the center of the room, positioned facing the panoramic windows, which I imagine will give us a spectacular view of the sea during the day.

The bed frame is so low that we almost fall over when we lie down. The light beige fabric finish creates harmony with the floor and the lighting – LED lamps embedded in the steps and under the bed, giving a warm and comfortable feeling.

Pedro's fingers glide smoothly under the skin of my back, with a gentle and warm touch. His legs are intertwined with mine. His blue eyes are focused on mine, and I've never seen him so happy as I see him today.

"I wouldn't mind spending the night here," I say softly, as I bring my hand to his face to caress it.

Pedro smiles.

"Well, neither would I, but I think our daughter wouldn't like that. It was a little difficult to convince her to stay with her parents today so we could be alone," he replies, his eyes fixed on me. "She only agreed because I promised we'd go for a walk tomorrow. The Farallon Islands."

I frown, pressing my lips together gently. I hadn't even realized he had our daughter as an accomplice in all this. It's good to see how close the two of them could have become. Pedro fits his face between mine and the space between the pillow. I feel his kisses on my cheek, his beard tickling me.

"You used our daughter as your accomplice, didn't you?" “I ask, caressing his cheek, almost hidden between my face and the pillow.

“Who do you think chose your ring, my love?” he asks, with a small laugh. “We arranged it last night, when you left worried,” he says, before pulling his face away so he can look into my eyes. “The result of that test was yours, wasn’t it? You were worried about it. It wasn’t what you wanted, was it?”

I pull my face away to look fully into his eyes. My right hand touches his cheek and caresses it.

“It wasn’t what I expected to happen, Pedro. Not now and without planning. I spent the day agitated, trying to find a good way to talk about it,” I say calmly. “I was very nervous when you showed up in the room yesterday, talking about things with Abby. I felt it wasn’t the right time to tell you, and my emotions were intense. The first pregnancy was difficult; I was alone most of the time.” Surrounded by people who love me, but none of them were you.

"I'm here now. And all that suffering you went through, please leave it behind and focus on the present. On us, on our children. On our life, Adie." His thumb caresses my cheek. "We weren't expecting it now, but it was always in our plans.

His eyes show caution as he watches me. There's love there. But also fear of what might happen. If at any point Pedro thinks I might have an abortion, I need to get that idea out of his mind. I've already decided we're going to have this baby. Even if I didn't want to, I would have told him about the baby and my decision. Pedro is understanding; if I didn't want to have another child, he wouldn't stop me.

"If what worries you is the idea that I don't want more children with you, don't think that way, my love." My tone is calm and full of care. "Seeing you with Abby only gives me even more certainty that I chose the right man to love and start a family with." Pedro smiles gently before kissing me softly. "But you took my IUD out of place!" I give his arm a light slap.

Pedro laughs, a pleasant chuckle.

"Sorry, I didn't even think that was possible." He says, kissing my neck. "Come on. Let's get dressed and go upstairs. Let's enjoy the view before our trip ends."

I give a small, knowing smile before getting up to get dressed again. Pedro did the same, but this time we're barefoot. We don't need shoes here.

His fingers intertwine with mine as we walk up the steps to the stern of the yacht. This time, we went to the bow, to lean on the railings at the point and observe the city. I'd really like to try the hot tub, but I don't have a bikini here.

The buildings of Los Angeles are beautiful, illuminated by the lights of the streetlights or windows. I've never seen them from the ocean, I never knew how beautiful they are. Pedro's body is positioned right behind me, his hands are beside mine, firmly gripping the iron bars at the bow. I almost feel like I'm in Titanic, but with a happy ending.

“The view is beautiful, don’t you think?” I ask, fascinated by the light reflecting on the water.

“I agree…” Pedro says, kissing my shoulder. “I like my private view.” I smile slightly. I know perfectly well what he’s talking about. And it’s not the dark sky that’s affecting us today. “What do you think about going back? Your daughter is quite impatient about some things,” he says softly. “I have no idea who she might have inherited that from.”

“If you ask Jackson, he’ll have an answer for that,” I reply with a light laugh.

My brother would certainly tell you that Abby inherited all my impatience. During the pregnancy, I became more impatient than I consider normal, I admit. Pregnancy hormones are very unstable.

“He’ll probably say something about it when he finds out you’re pregnant,” Pedro says, amused. “When do you want to tell them?” Please tell him I'm the first to know.
I rest my head on his shoulder, looking at him.

"I'm sorry, my love, but you're the second to know. I had to talk to someone first, and I did it with Lyla. But I made it very clear that she should only tell Victor when I told you," I reply, looking into his eyes. Pedro has an expression of almost boredom and frustration. "You know how incapable he is of keeping quiet and keeping secrets."

He closes his eyes and mutters a smile.

"He's awful…"

"When are we going to tell them we're getting married?" I ask thoughtfully. "A pregnancy and the announcement of our wedding could be two very intense news items for them. And maybe for the media…"

"The media isn't a problem in our lives, my love. They'll probably only know we're having another baby after this child is born. And they'll only know about our wedding after it happens." Pedro seems so calm about it. “Honey, you gave me a ring that shines even from afar. They’ll notice,” I say, as if that should be even more obvious than it is. “Besides, when do you plan to make this marriage official?”

“For me, we’d do it tomorrow,” he replies, in such a serious tone that it makes me think he really means it. “But we can wait and do things the right way. We can get married after the baby is born. Or before. I only care about being married to you.”

I chuckle slightly. The yacht moves in a return towards the marina and the port.

“I think I’d rather not have such a big belly when I get married.”

“I think a white dress would look perfect on you anyway,” he says softly. “But it would be a shame not to be able to celebrate my wedding with my wife because she can’t drink or is nauseous from the food.”

“The most appropriate thing is to wait, Pedro.” “I answer him, in a firmer tone. “What kind of wedding are you planning? Just going to the registry office and that’s it?”
He moves away from me, as if quite offended by this. Turning to face him, I lean against the iron bars and stare at him firmly.

“I have a fiancée and a daughter who love everything about marine life, so I thought we could get married on the beach, in the late afternoon,” he says, gripping the iron bars beside me. “A good buffet, good decorations…” His mouth is close to mine, as if in defiance. “You in white with a bouquet as beautiful as you… That’s the kind of wedding I’m planning. That’s the kind of wedding you deserve.”
