Chapter 208
Chapter 208
"Go ahead and call the police, be my guest." Jane wasn't intimidated by their threats at all and said coldly, "I'd like to see what evidence you have to prove I did it."
"Jane, you're being too vicious." Larry couldn't help but say, "Even if you don't like Aunt, she's still your elder."
Jane acted as if she'd heard the biggest joke ever. "Larry, big-shot lawyer, now you want to play the family card? When she was spewing garbage and insulting me just now, why didn't you tell her that she's my aunt after all?"
Larry was immediately at a loss for words.
"Jane, you're too vicious!" Emma cursed angrily.
"Emma, you flatter me!" Jane said calmly, "Compared to you people who gave birth but didn't raise me, who insult and slander me with malicious attacks, I'm still far behind. If you're not happy about it, deal with it!"
That was just how she was—she always got even, never waited till the next day.
With that, she turned and walked away, too lazy to waste more time with them.
However, Larry still wouldn't let her go. He immediately blocked her path, his eyes looking at her darkly, saying with forced patience, "What will it take for you to agree to restore Aunt's condition?"
"Restore what?" Jane looked at him like he was an idiot and directly denied any connection, "What does this have to do with me? Larry, you've got the wrong person."
Larry: "..."
Everyone: "..."
How could Jane have the nerve to lie with a straight face like that?
But they had no way to deal with her, and could only glare at Jane angrily.
It seemed Jane had figured out that they had no evidence and couldn't do anything to her, which was why she was so arrogant.
Mrs. Stone couldn't be bothered to fight with her anymore at this moment. She hurriedly grabbed her husband's arm, pointed at her own throat, then at the door, looking extremely anxious.
Seeing that her husband had no idea what she was trying to say, she simply stopped trying to communicate and pulled him forcefully toward the door, apparently eager to see a doctor.
Mr. Stone had no choice but to take her to see a doctor.
Emma was worried too and hurried to follow them. Before leaving, she didn't forget to glare viciously at Jane: "Little bitch, if anything happens to your aunt, you'll see how I'll kill you!"
Jane didn't even acknowledge them, and even made a "please" gesture, looking extremely arrogant.
Grandpa Watson and the old lady nearby watched the scene unfold in stunned silence, not expecting that Mrs. Stone's shameless behavior would be resolved so easily by Jane.
Now that the group had rushed off to see the doctor, the hospital room finally quieted down, with only the three of them left.
The old man asked curiously, "Girl, did you really not give her anything to eat?"
Although he hadn't seen clearly, he was also puzzled—if she hadn't eaten anything, how did that woman suddenly lose her voice?
The old lady also looked at her curiously, "Girl, there are no outsiders here, tell us the truth."
"The truth is, she did eat something." Jane had no intention of hiding it from them and confessed honestly, "It's a drug that causes muteness."
"Good for her!" The old man had no intention of blaming her, and was even quite excited. "That woman's words were too nasty. It would be better if she stayed mute forever!"
The old lady glared at him, then asked Jane, "Will there be any danger? Larry was there too, and he's a lawyer. It wouldn't be good if he really got something on you."
"It's fine, Grandma, don't worry. I'm just teaching her a lesson. The drug only lasts three months. After three months, when it wears off, she'll automatically recover."
"That's good, that's good." The old lady nodded repeatedly.
She wasn't worried about that woman; she was just afraid this matter would bring some trouble to her granddaughter.
Not long after, Alice came over with four people.
Two were bodyguards, one was a nutritionist, and one was a private nurse.
Jane arranged their duties, then reminded the elderly couple, "Grandpa, Grandma, during your hospital stay, the Stone Family won't come to disturb your rest anymore. As for Patrick and Emma, I don't have the right to stop them from visiting. If they disturb you again, just call me."
"Okay, okay."
The old lady, seeing how thoroughly she'd arranged everything, held her hand and said with relief, "Our girl has arranged everything so well. Your grandpa and I will be fine. Go back to work, don't worry about us."
With that, the old lady walked her to the door and reminded her, "As for what that woman said, don't take it to heart. Grandpa and Grandma both know that the money you earn is clean, and you're not the kind of person they say you are."
Jane smiled.
She hadn't taken anything Mrs. Stone said to heart at all—it was just like a dog barking.
Before leaving, she glanced toward the outpatient department and let out a cold laugh.
In the outpatient office, the doctor examined Mrs. Stone's condition but couldn't figure out what was wrong. He had no choice but to send them for tests—all kinds of tests.
Mr. Stone asked the doctor, "What's going on exactly?"
Looking at the test reports, the doctor was also puzzled. "All the indicators in the tests are normal. I don't know what this symptom is either. It might be some new type of condition. We'll need to have a meeting to discuss this."
Mrs. Stone was scared out of her wits. Regardless of how many people were present, she anxiously started hitting her husband's arm.
Mr. Stone, annoyed by her hitting, snapped at her, "Enough, what are you making a fuss about?"
Mrs. Stone was too scared to move anymore. At her age, she still put on a pitiful look for her husband.
Mr. Stone couldn't stand to look at her and turned directly to Emma. "Sis, this isn't working. This must be that bitch Jane's doing. You've got to help think of something."
...
When Jane got home, Jill was on a video call.
However, Jack didn't seem very interested in this call. He was still sitting in front of his computer writing code, only showing his back to the camera.
Sophie was very well-behaved, sitting on the sofa holding her doll.
Sammy was excited, sitting on the carpet, holding a notebook, chatting away with Jill in the video.
Jill had the same posture, lying on the other end of the video call.
Jane washed her hands, sat down next to her daughter, picked her up and put her on her lap, then asked Sammy, "What are you two talking about?"
