Chapter 201

Chapter 201
Unless this explanation holds, many things just don't make sense.

His gaze at her gradually deepened.

Jane noticed his stare and glanced back at him, frowning involuntarily. Why was this man still looking at her?

And the way he was looking at her clearly showed he was getting suspicious.

Could it be that he'd already seen through her identity?

Well, it wasn't like her identity was something shameful, and she wasn't afraid of him knowing the truth. But having deceived him for so long, she couldn't help feeling a bit guilty.

The two of them staring at each other with their own hidden agendas looked completely different to the two elderly people, who thought they were exchanging loving glances.

Thinking it wouldn't be appropriate to say or do anything in front of the two old folks, Grandpa Watson considerately said, "Dear, you and John should head out first. You're both so busy with work, no need to stay at the hospital all the time."

"But..." Jane wasn't quite comfortable with that.

"It's fine. I'm still here, and there's also Mr. Hu. Larry will come by later too," Grandma said.

Jane didn't say anything, but her frown deepened.

Those Watson Family people only had their eyes on Watson & Associates' shares and power. They'd never really cared about Grandpa and Grandma's health. It was precisely because they were coming that she felt even more uneasy.

Grandma seemed to read her mind and said, "Don't worry. The reason Larry targeted you before was all because of his parents. He has his own business and has never really cared much about Watson & Associates matters. He won't upset us."

"Alright then." Jane stopped insisting and said instead, "I'll come visit you both when I have time. If anything comes up, you must call me."

"Okay, don't worry."

The old man looked at John, "John, I'll have to trouble you to take our girl home."

"Don't worry, Grandpa Watson."

John agreed.

The old man and woman watched the two of them leave together, nodding with satisfaction.

"I have to say, John and our girl do make a pretty good match."

"That goes without saying." Grandma thought of the scene she'd witnessed last night. "And from what I can see, our girl does like him, and John seems to have feelings for our girl too."

"Forget it. As long as they're both willing, let's not interfere too much. Let the past be the past. As long as John treats our girl well from now on, that's all that matters."

The old man saw things clearly.

But Grandma wasn't so optimistic. She could tell that Anna was obsessed with John and wouldn't give up easily. And her girl was such a proud person. She feared this matter wouldn't be resolved so easily.

...

Jane rode home in John's car.

She and John sat in the back, Kevin in the passenger seat, with a driver at the wheel.

There were clearly four people in the car, but it was unusually quiet.

Suddenly, Kevin's phone ringtone broke the silence.

He answered it and spoke with the person on the other end.

In the quiet space, although Jane couldn't hear clearly what the other person was saying, she could roughly make out that it was about the incident where she'd been set up the other day.

After he hung up, she asked, "Did you find some leads?"

Kevin paused for a moment and glanced at his boss through the rearview mirror. Seeing no sign of objection, he said, "Yes. The surveillance shows that a man in black did appear that day, but he hid himself well. Can't see his face clearly."

"Even if you can't see his face clearly, you should be able to tell if it's a man or woman, right?" Jane asked again.

"It's a man."

Jane frowned slightly but didn't ask any more questions. Just then, the car had arrived at Lakewood Bay. She thanked John and got out.

On the way back, John asked, "Who is it?"

Kevin: "Stanley Gordon from the sales department."

"Who's Stanley?" John was unfamiliar with the name. "Does he have a grudge against Jane?"

"No. He's just an ordinary salesman. You could say he has no connection with the young Madam at all. However, he does know Miss Anna, and their relationship..."

It's hard to say.

Kevin sneaked a glance at his boss and received a cold stare in return.

Kevin immediately shivered and continued, "It's like this, Mr. Smith. When Stanley first joined our Smith Corporation, his performance was always poor. He didn't pass his probation period and was about to be let go, but Miss Anna kept him on."

John nodded expressionlessly. "Did he meet with Anna before the incident?"

"No, but according to our investigation, he often secretly watches Anna. He probably has a crush on her."

John's expression instantly darkened, turning cold as ice.

Over the years, Anna had been winning people over openly and secretly, with Maggie backing her up.

John had heard about some of it, but these were all lower-level matters, and no one had come forward to accuse Anna, so he hadn't looked into it.

He didn't expect them to now be so brazen as to start scheming against Jane.

When they arrived at the company, as he was getting out of the car, he threw a line to Kevin: "Bring him to me."

Kevin secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Good thing he hadn't said anything carelessly in the car earlier, otherwise if the young Madam found out it was Anna causing trouble, she would definitely get upset with the boss, and then his life would be difficult again.

Now that Anna dared to do such things to the young Madam right under Mr. Smith's nose, her days were probably numbered.

Ten minutes later.

Kevin brought Stanley to the executive floor.

As a low-level salesman, he'd never been here before. All the way to John's office, his legs were shaking. He asked anxiously, "Kevin, why does Mr. Smith want to see me?"

Kevin didn't even acknowledge him, walking ahead with no expression.

Entering John's office, he immediately spotted that tall, upright figure. Especially when John turned around from the floor-to-ceiling window, that ice-cold, knife-like gaze made Stanley's legs go weak instantly. He asked in a trembling voice, "Mr. Smith, you wanted to see me?"
