Chapter 120

Chapter 120

Driven by jealousy and some dark curiosity, Eleanor didn't leave. Instead, she sneaked up the emergency stairwell, following them step by step.

Wearing high heels, she walked through the silent stairwell, her footsteps creating hollow and jarring echoes, but she didn't care anymore.

She carefully made her way to the floor where the VIP rooms were located. The environment here was quiet and serene, with hardly anyone in the hallways.

Eleanor held her breath, peeking into each room. When she passed by a room with a door left slightly ajar, she clearly heard that voice she hated to the bone—Olivia's!

"I'm really fine, it's just a minor drug reaction. The doctor said I can be discharged tomorrow after observation tonight."

It was Olivia's voice. Though it sounded a bit weak, her tone was insistent.

Then came Christopher's deep, magnetic voice, filled with unmistakable concern, "Your health comes first. How about we cancel the trip to Tyumen Resort and you rest at home for a few days?"

Eleanor's heart clenched. Tyumen Resort? They were going to the hot springs?

Sure enough, Olivia immediately protested, "No! I've already arranged everything, and Victoria's coming too. I'm really fine. I'm definitely going on Sunday! I'm actually looking forward to it."

Her tone carried a rare hint of playful insistence.

Christopher was silent for a moment, seemingly giving in helplessly, "Fine, but if you feel unwell, tell me right away."

"I know..."

Eleanor couldn't hear what came after.

She leaned against the cold wall, her heart pounding violently with jealousy and anger.

Tyumen Resort... Sunday... Olivia and Christopher were going there to the hot springs! Christopher's almost indulgent care and concern for Olivia was like a poisoned sword, piercing straight through her heart.

Why did Olivia get to have all this?

While she had to scheme and hide for an uncertain child, and might even have to find men she looked down upon?

A dark and vicious plan slowly bubbled up from the depths of Eleanor's heart like gas from a swamp.

She stared at that half-open door, her eyes full of resentment and calculation.

What she couldn't have, Olivia shouldn't get to enjoy either!

Eleanor didn't linger any longer. Carrying the "important intelligence" she'd just overheard, she left the hospital floor like a ghost, silent and unseen.

Meanwhile, Victoria drove to the newly opened restaurant her older brother Kian had mentioned.

The restaurant was stylishly decorated and seemed to be doing good business. Kian was already waiting at the entrance. Seeing only Victoria getting out of the car, the expectant smile on his face faded a bit, and he couldn't help looking behind her, "Where's Olivia? Didn't she come with you?"

Victoria took Kian's arm and explained as they walked inside, "Don't even ask. Olivia accidentally took an extra cold medicine pill this afternoon and fainted from the drug reaction. She's still at the hospital for observation and couldn't make it."

"Olivia fainted? She's in the hospital?"

Kian's expression changed dramatically. He immediately stopped and turned to leave, "Is it serious? Which hospital? I'll go see her right now!"

"Kian!"

Victoria quickly grabbed him firmly, "Don't panic! She's fine now. The doctor said she can be discharged tomorrow after observation tonight, and..." She paused, lowering her voice, "Mr. Taylor is there with her. If you go now, wouldn't you just be in the way? How awkward would that be!"

"Christopher?" Hearing that name, Kian frowned deeply, a flash of complex emotions crossing his face—disappointment, helplessness, and a barely noticeable sadness.

He really had no right or reason to visit Olivia when Christopher was there.

Kian was silent for a moment, ultimately withdrawing his step, though his tone was somewhat heavy, "She's really okay?"

"Really okay. I saw the doctor say it myself—just a drug reaction."

Victoria nodded firmly, pulling her brother toward their reserved table, "Come on, let's eat. I'm starving. With Mr. Taylor taking care of Olivia, what are you worried about?"

Kian was half-pushed, half-coaxed into his seat by Victoria, but his heart was in turmoil.

He looked out at the flashing neon lights of the night scene, but his mind involuntarily conjured images of Olivia's pale face and Christopher standing beside her with his powerful presence.

He knew he might have been out of the running long ago, but that concern and flutter hidden deep in his heart wasn't so easy to completely erase.

This meal was destined to be eaten without really tasting anything.

In the late-night VIP hospital room, all was quiet except for the occasional faint sounds from medical equipment and the distant howling of the city's night wind outside the window.

Olivia slowly woke from her sleep, her throat a bit dry.

She blinked, adjusting to the dim light in the darkness, and instinctively looked toward the sofa. Christopher's tall frame was curled up on the sofa that was clearly too small for him, with only a thin white blanket the hospital provided casually draped over him. The late autumn night cold seeped in through the window cracks, and the temperature in the room wasn't very warm.

Would he catch cold sleeping like that?

This thought naturally arose in Olivia's mind.

Looking at Christopher's slightly furrowed brow even in sleep, a feeling mixed with worry and an indescribable tenderness quietly spread.

She barely hesitated before gently lifting her own warm blanket, getting out of bed barefoot, stepping onto the cold floor, and carefully walking toward the door.

Olivia quietly opened the door. The light at the nurses' station in the hallway glowed softly.

She walked over and asked the nurse on duty in a low voice for another, thicker comforter.

Carrying the fluffy, soft blanket back to the room, Olivia tiptoed toward the sofa, holding her breath, and with extremely gentle movements, removed the thin blanket from Christopher. Just as she was about to cover him with the thick comforter—A warm, strong hand suddenly grabbed her wrist!

Olivia jumped, letting out a small gasp, and met a pair of eyes that remained clear and sharp even in the darkness.

Christopher had somehow already woken up and was quietly watching her, his eyes showing no trace of drowsiness.

"I saw you only had a thin blanket and was afraid you'd be cold."

Like a child caught doing something wrong, Olivia's heart pounded as she explained somewhat flustered, "It's cold at night, so I got you a thicker blanket."

As she spoke, she tried to free herself from Christopher's grip to finish covering him with the blanket, then quickly retreat to her own bed.
