Miranda's mind went completely blank.
Her sole burned as if seared by a branding iron. She quickly looked up at the man in front of her.

But before her ankle could retreat, a burning large hand suddenly grabbed it, so forcefully she couldn't struggle at all.
Miranda watched helplessly as Clifton gripped her ankle and slowly stood up.
With his movement, the bulge beneath his dress pants became even more shocking, impossible to ignore.
Miranda, embarrassed and angry, blurted out, "You pervert!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, his tall figure leaned over, his intense masculine presence instantly enveloping her.
"I'm a pervert?" Clifton bent down, one hand braced on the mattress beside her, trapping her firmly between himself and the headboard, his voice impossibly husky. "Weren't you the one rubbing against me first?"

"Your foot kept rubbing on my thigh," Clifton's gaze locked intensely on her, as if trying to see through her. "I'm a normal man. Of course I'm going to have a physical reaction."
His words were direct and explicit, leaving Miranda speechless.
She opened her mouth, racking her brain, finally coming up with a retort and accusing indignantly, "But I'm an injured patient! You can get hard even looking at an injured patient."
She snorted heavily, delivering her verdict. "You're definitely a pervert!"
Hearing the woman's soft accusation, Clifton not only didn't get angry but let out a low laugh.
He leaned even closer, his scorching breath almost burning her skin, his large hand sliding down the smooth skin of her back.
"Let me check if you're injured here."

Clifton looked at her flustered, defensive expression, like a ruffled kitten, and his smile deepened. In the end, though, he only placed a restrained and gentle kiss on her smooth forehead.
"Relax," he pulled back slightly, his voice so husky it could drip water. "I'm not perverted enough to take advantage of an injured patient."
With that, the man suddenly straightened and headed toward the bathroom.
Miranda froze, instinctively asking, "Where are you going?"
Clifton didn't stop, only leaving her with a view of his broad, straight back.
"You won't allow it," his voice came from ahead, tinged with helpless teasing. "So I'll have to take care of it myself."
As his words fell, he had already entered the bathroom and, with a click, closed the door.

Miranda sat on the bed, processing his words, and her face burned even hotter.
How could this man say such things so matter-of-factly?
Time passed, and just as Miranda was lost in confused thoughts, Clifton's voice suddenly came from the bathroom, calling her name in a low tone.
"Miranda."
Miranda startled and quickly responded, "What is it?"
"Come here. Stand by the door."
His voice came through the door, sounding somewhat muffled and carrying a hint of suppression.
At least he wasn't asking her to come inside.
Miranda secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Though puzzled, she obediently moved to the edge of the bed and hopped on one foot to the bathroom door.
She had just steadied herself when Clifton's voice came from inside again, still calling her name.
"Miranda."
This time, his voice was lower, huskier, like it was ground from deep in his throat.
Miranda frowned, feeling uneasy.
What if something was wrong with Clifton in there?
She answered worriedly, "I'm here."
As soon as she spoke, a satisfied, nasal sigh came from the bathroom, unmistakably male.
