Chapter 79 Jealous
CHAPTER 79: Jealous
Dianna.
For a long moment, I could not say anything.
I only stared at Theodore while his words slowly settled inside my chest. The more he spoke, the more I finally understood the parts of him I used to misunderstand.
His anger. His recklessness. The way he constantly demanded attention while pretending not to care about anyone at all.
None of it came from arrogance, but from loneliness.
And somehow, that realization hurt me more than I expected.
Theodore had spent most of his life trying to earn love from people who only taught him how conditional it could be.
I looked at him quietly while he sat beside my bed with his head slightly lowered, still holding my hand carefully like he was afraid I would disappear the moment he loosened his grip.
My chest tightened painfully.
Slowly, I moved my fingers against his and whispered softly, “Theo…”
He looked up slowly.
The moment our eyes met, I saw that sadness sitting quietly behind and that exhaustion he tried so hard to hide from me.
Without thinking much about it, I reached up and brushed my fingers through his hair gently. Theodore immediately leaned into my touch instinctively, almost like his body already craved comfort before his pride could stop it.
“You know,” I murmured softly, “you spent too much time believing nobody wanted you.”
A faint smile tugged weakly at his lips.
“Can you blame me?”
“But I want you.”
The words slipped out of me so naturally that even I almost became embarrassed afterward. Still, I smiled at him anyway, trying to keep the mood light despite everything that had happened.
Theodore froze.
For a second, he only stared at me like his mind had completely stopped working.
Then slowly, the tips of his ears began turning red.
I blinked in surprise.
Oh my God.
Was Theodore actually blushing?
“You…” He let out a short breath before hiding part of his face with one hand. “You can’t just say things like that so suddenly.”
A laugh escaped me immediately.
“Why not?”
Instead of answering, he leaned closer toward my touch even more, almost unconsciously, like a large clingy cat pretending not to want attention while clearly asking for it anyway.
“Stoooop…” he muttered under his breath, sounding strangely shy for someone who used to flirt with women without blinking.
That only made me laugh harder.
“You’re embarrassed.”
“I’m not.”
“You are.”
“I nearly had a heart attack today, Dianna. Leave me alone.”
I grinned at him while Theodore shook his head helplessly before suddenly standing up from the chair.
I frowned slightly. “Where are you going?”
Instead of answering, he carefully climbed onto the hospital bed beside me, moving slowly so he would not accidentally hurt me or the baby. The small mattress barely fit both of us, but Theodore clearly did not care anymore.
“Theodore,” I whispered, trying not to laugh again. “What are you doing?”
“I’m emotionally unstable right now,” he answered seriously while settling beside me. “Let me cling to my wife.”
I burst into quiet laughter at that.
Theodore immediately wrapped an arm carefully around my waist the moment he laid down beside me, pulling himself close while keeping one hand protectively over my stomach.
Then he buried his face lightly against my shoulder with the heaviest sigh I had ever heard.
“You’re ridiculous,” I muttered softly, though my chest felt unbearably warm.
“Mhm.”
“But you’re acting cute right now.”
At that, Theodore immediately lifted his head and looked offended.
“Cute?”
“Yes.”
His eyes narrowed suspiciously. “I am a grown man.”
“You’re a grown man blushing because your… ex-wife confessed to wanting you.”
“That never happened,” he replied immediately. Then, without missing a beat, he added, “And also, we’re getting married again.”
I stared at him in disbelief.
“Oh yeah?” I raised a brow at him. “I didn’t say yes though.”
Theodore looked genuinely offended by that.
“What do you mean you didn’t say yes?”
“I mean exactly what I said.”
He narrowed his eyes at me suspiciously while I tried very hard not to laugh at his expression.
“Dianna.”
“What?”
“You’re literally carrying my child.”
“And?”
“And you love me.”
I gasped dramatically. “Wow. So confident.”
“You just confessed five minutes ago.”
I bit back my smile immediately. “You have no proof.”
Theodore stared at me for a few seconds before letting out a quiet scoff under his breath.
“You’re unbelievable.”
“And yet you still want to marry me again.”
“Yes,” he answered without hesitation.
The immediate response caught me slightly off guard.
There was not even a second of doubt in his voice.
He looked so certain and sure he won't be changing his mind.
Theodore looked at me quietly for a moment before reaching over and gently brushing a loose strand of hair away from my face.
“I want everything with you,” he admitted softly. “Even the difficult parts.”
The teasing in my expression slowly faded.
God.
Why did this man suddenly know how to say the most dangerous things?
I looked away briefly, trying to hide the warmth spreading across my face, but Theodore noticed anyway.
A slow grin formed on his lips, like he had been waiting for that exact reaction.
“Now, now,” he murmured, voice light but teasing. “Who’s being shy?”
I scoffed immediately and turned back to him, raising a brow in challenge.
“Oh yeah?” I shot back. “Who was the one getting jealous because I was talking to a male business partner?”
Theodore’s expression tightened at once.
“He was smiling too much.”
“He was literally discussing contracts.”
“He was looking at you like he wanted something else.”
I blinked at him.
“Carlisle is five years older than me,” I said flatly. “And he owns the company I work with. Of course he’s going to look at me when I’m speaking.”
Theodore went still.
“Carlisle,” he repeated slowly.
“Yes.”
“Five years older than you.”
“Yes.”
His eyes narrowed instantly.
“And he is allowed to call you by your name? And you call him by his name too?"
I stared at him for a full second before laughing under my breath.
“Oh my God.”
Theodore did not look amused.
“I don’t like it.”
“You don’t like what exactly?”
“Him existing near you.”
That only made me smile wider.
“You’re jealous.”
“I am observant.”
“You’re jealous.”
“I am not.”
I leaned slightly closer, watching the way his jaw tightened again.
“It’s literally been months and you still can’t let it go,” I said, voice light but pointed. “The guy is probably out there with the woman he loves right now..." I paused.
"And besides...you are the one I love."
