Chapter 42 42

Chapter 42 42
Alpha Knox~~

“She poisoned me, but wanted the blame to be put on my mate. I doubt the poison kills, because her target was just to keep Phoebe on my bad side.” I explained while pouring myself a drink, and Levi, who sat opposite me, couldn't say a thing. “Since it's reached this extent, I think there's no need to hold back from her and her father any longer.”

“What should be done? I'm so desperate to bring Beta Drogo down, because it seems he wants to use the help he rendered against you.” Levi finally said a thing, and I scoffed. “Alpha, there's a probability of the daughter and father coming after your life once they can't deal with Phoebe. I have that feeling that Vivien doesn't love you, or she wouldn't hurt you just to implicate an innocent female out of envy.”

I grabbed the glass of wine and raised it to my lips. As I sipped from it twice, the doorbell rang, and Levi hurried to check who was there.

The guard walked in and bowed to me, then announced, “According to the prison chief guard, the slave princess left the cell last night, and you took her away, but she hasn't returned.” I spat out the wine and dropped the glass on the table, then turned to Levi, whom the guard was staring at. “They said that you showed up with a car and took her to the club.”

“Club? How could someone who was arrested be taken to the club?” Levi scoffed and turned to me. “Doesn't it sound funny? We stayed here all night, and…

“Tell me if there was anything odd about him.” I cut Levi off and stood to my feet.

The guard shook his head, “Your majesty, I think the prison guard should answer this. I only came to relay the message since they had searched the whole prison yard and didn't find her.”

From there, I left my room with Levi and the other guards. They split into several groups and were to search the whole pack, both nooks and crannies, for Phoebe. I researched the prison yard by myself this time, and when I couldn't find her, I tried working out with my wolf on how to find the person's scent.

I shook my head, staring at the floor, “They hid their scent. What spell did they use that made them look like Levi so much? I had planned that she would be brought out this noon, and she was already taken out.” I muttered and began leaving the prison yard.

First, it was the assassins. And now this, yet I hadn't found the source of it.

All this hadn't been happening until I brought Phoebe into my pack, and this was making me wonder if there was something about her that I didn't know. With this incident, I also came to understand that the assassins were after her and not the spy. So why exactly were they after taking her?

I reached the border where I met up with Levi and the few guards he was with. He entered the car and didn't stop shaking his head. “I couldn't even find a clue of how whoever it was entered this pack, so I'm beginning to think that we have a traitor among us.”

What kinda traitor was that? If I found them, they wouldn't live to see the next day.

“So what do we do now? The only option is searching for her outside the pack before they harm her,” he suggested, and I nodded, then the driver kicked off. There, he mindlinked the other men, and they all rode outside the pack, still with different directions. “Can you sense her wolf? If you can't, the way to help is meeting a witch doctor who would give you a spell that would automatically activate her wolf wherever she is.”

But it was useless, because I had a black magic power since I was cursed by that priestess and hadn't ever used it. If that magic will help me find her, then I will use it this time.

We entered the remote land before the next pack, and before we reached their border, I insisted on leaving alone from there.

“Alpha, are you okay?” Levi queried, looking anxious.

He doesn't know about this magic of mine, and I wasn't ready to use it before them.

“It's fine! Take the east while I take the west." I said to them and left instantly.

In the woods, I quickly transformed into my wolf form and raced deeper so I would enter the pack. When I sighted a mountain, and had an idea how people make use of mountains when it came to hiding people, I thought she might be there.

I transformed back to my human form, my wolf growling in my head as I activated the black magic core in me. It was my first time doing this willingly, because the first time, it was triggered, and I took note to avoid things that would trigger the power.

Soon, my wolf whimpered and went quiet, then my inner black magic core was activated, and my sense of sight and smell heightened. I could perceive the scent of the vampires from their clan, and could see from afar, even when something was sealed.

I saw shadows and invisible beings that paraded in the woods, but that wasn't my problem.

When I became certain that no one was around and watching me, I began flitting towards the mountain that I saw. Under it was a cave, but as I passed through the rocks like a shadow and entered it, it didn't look like where people were.

Standing at a place, I searched the whole corners of the mountain cave, and it hadn't been used, so I left again through my shadow.

I didn't stop flitting because I needed to be so fast and not be seen. When I noticed another cave, I headed there only to find several of my men being fought by a group of assassins. Since they weren't seeing me, the least I could do was strike them with my black magic power while in the shadows.

My men stepped backwards when they saw them grumbling to the floor.

They thought to split themselves and check the cave, but I was faster than they were and twitched in instantly.

I flitted towards the underground where I perceived an energy from. There, it was so dark and poisonous that a werewolf wouldn't have their abilities any longer. I saw Phoebe, cuddling her legs to her chest and sobbing silently.

If I hadn't activated my black magic power, I wouldn't have found her, because I would go down the drain if I stepped in here too.

She looked weak, her skin becoming pale already.

I dashed closer and tapped her head, “Stand up!” I knew that my voice sounded odd, but I wouldn't be able to leave here with her if I let go of this magic so early.

She raised her face, and when she couldn't see who was talking to her, shifted backwards again. I hurled her into my shadow and escaped the underground, and didn't stop until we were very far away from the cave.

At that moment, I choked and quickly dropped to the floor, my human form coming into view, and the black magic breaking away from me forcefully.

“Knox?” she screamed and pushed my body. “What is happening? Are you Knox?” she asked again.

I choked again and threw up blood, but quickly wiped my lips. I didn't need to be told that I was hurt, and the magic severed that instant because of my feelings for her. It was a sign that my death was fast approaching if I continued letting my heart deceive me.

But she was my mate, and there was no way to let her die there.

I managed to stand erect and turned to her, “It's me, Knox. Are you too shocked?”

She stepped backwards and then nodded. “Why do you smell like a demon? Everything about you and your right-hand man is now scary.”

I opened my lips to respond to her when I coughed out blood, but this time, constantly, until I couldn't stand the pains on my chest and slumped to the floor on my knees.
