The Trip

After laying in bed with Luna, I saw her staring at me.

"You had a nightmare; I tried to calm you," I looked at the ceiling.

My phone started ringing, "Hey Nik, you ready?" we had to be at the airport in an hour or so because he liked to get on his flights early and then prepare for a meeting while in the air. Nik was grumbling about how he didn't have all the notes for the meeting this week; I looked at Luna and smiled faintly at her. She rolled her eyes and hopped out of bed to put on shorts, a crop top, and her vans. Luna looked so beautiful in anything, but this outfit did something to me. Of course, Luna is beautiful when she is happy and at peace, but seeing her angry like this, I find it very hot. We were all going to take the same car to the airport, but since the incident, Luna decided to take a taxi. So Nik and I took my car and discussed how to win Luna back, but I was afraid we had lost her forever because of our stupidity. I don't think she would ever forgive us, but I have hope deep inside that she might get past this and we can all be together again; I saw she was wearing the red and yellow socks I got her. I might be overthinking it, but I just want her to be with us. Luna hasn't talked to us since we told her the whole truth; we could get her to sit down and talk to us about how she is feeling without her running away.

I saw Nik scrolling through his phone until he stopped on a picture of Luna, the first picture I sent him of her. I saw him trying to decide whether to delete or keep it; I haven't deleted any pictures I took of her because I know she will be back in our arms soon. I know she is hurting and just wants to process everything; she is right; we did betray her, but I want to move past this and help her learn to trust us again.

Something about her not talking to us doesn't worry me, but Nik is having a panic attack because she won't really answer a text or a phone call the way she used to. She used to sound happy at work and around our apartments, but she sounded like she wanted to be far away from him and me.

"Nik, I think everything will be fine." he smiled softly at me. He hadn't slept in a while, so I was driving so he could sleep before the plane ride. Finally, we pulled up to the airport, and I noticed that Luna was already standing in front of the stairs to the private plane. She mostly looked angry that we took so long, and then she looked at Nik, and her anger faded to sadness because the way he looked was sad. He hadn't eaten, showered, or slept since he last saw her. She hugged him and me, but that was all she did before getting on the plane; she sat on the couch, scrolled on her phone, and never looked at us.

Nik fell asleep; maybe having her in his presence was good enough for him to sleep because he never got to sleep in the same bed as her to comfort her from a nightmare. I walked over to Luna, I wanted to sit beside her, but she threw her legs on the couch. So I sat in the chair across from her; I stared at her long enough for her to notice me finally.

"Luna, can we please talk?" I was starting to sound like a broken record in my own head.

"Alex, I don't want to talk to you right now." She didn't look up from her phone. I started seeing red because I just wanted to talk to her.

"Just listen then, please." She rolled her eyes and put her phone down; I finally saw her beauty. She looked so tired, and I could tell this situation was weighing on her more than she was letting on.

" Luna, we are so sorry about the bet and not just trying to pursue you without something so trivial," I wanted to touch her, but I kept my hand on my chair."I want you to know we have been miserable since you stopped spending time with us." I could tell she had felt the same way since we last spoke.

" I want you to understand that if you ever decide to make us a part of your life again, this won't ever happen again." I stood up and went back to the seat beside Nik, but she grabbed my hand. I turned to her and could tell she was so tired of keeping herself away from us.

"Do you promise this will never happen again?" she asked, looking me in the eye.

"We promise that this will never happen again." I picked her up and sat her on Nik's lap. She snuggled up to him and fell asleep; she missed us but was still angry with us. I have no idea how to fix that now, but I will figure it out for her. After a while, I noticed that Nik and Luna were up; she started kissing him on the lips and then moved to his neck. She was peppering his neck with kisses.
