The Fallout

Lucian’s Rage

Bang!

Lucian’s fists crash into the desk. Papers scatter across the room.

"She was under our protection, and yet she almost escaped!" His voice is low, cutting like a sword.

Marco stands motionless, gaze concentrated, hands behind his back. "Boss… maybe locking her up isn’t the answer."

Lucian turns slowly, his eyes black with rage. "Excuse me?"

Marco clears his throat but stands steadfast. "She’s not the adversary. She’s puzzled. Maybe if you trusted her…"

"I decide what’s best for her." Lucian’s voice rips through the room like thunder.

Marco sighs. "You’re in love with her, but you’re treating her like a prisoner. She won’t forgive this."

Lucian moves closer, jaw gritted. "I’m protecting her from Dante. From herself. She doesn’t see it yet."

"And what if she never does? What if she hates you for this?"

Lucian pauses. For a second, something flashes in his eyes. Doubt.

But it fades fast. "She already hates me. That doesn’t matter anymore."

"It should," Marco adds calmly. "Because if you lose her… you lose everything."

Lucian doesn’t respond. He turns aside, glancing at the wall.  Marco adds one final thing before heading out, "Love doesn’t mean control, Boss."

Lucian glances at the strewn papers, then takes out the picture from his drawer Isabella smiling.  "What am I doing to you?" he mutters.

Isabella’s Defiance

Isabella paces in the vast, opulent room. The windows are locked. The door is locked. Her fists are folded. "He can’t do this to me," she mutters. "I’m not his prisoner."

She kicks the chair beside the bed. It topples over with a loud bang.

Suddenly, the door snaps open.  Lucian strides in, calm as ever, dressed in black. "Still throwing a tantrum?" he says, lifting a brow.

Isabella turns to him, anger in her eyes. "You won’t trap me forever."

Lucian walks in, carefully, like a predator. "I don’t need eternity. Just long enough for you to know you belong here."

She scoffs. "I don’t belong anywhere near you."

"That’s not what you said the night you kissed me," he says.

Her cheeks flush. "That was a mistake."

Lucian comes closer, pausing only inches from her. "Then why are your hands shaking now?"

She attempts to move back, but the wall is behind her. Trapped.

"I hate you," she whispers between tight teeth.

He takes a hand and combs her hair back softly. "Maybe. But you still desire me."

"You’re wrong."

"Am I?" he leans in, lips only inches from hers. "Say it again. Look me in the eye and claim you don’t feel anything."

Isabella chews her lip. Her heart races, But she doesn’t talk.  Lucian smirks. "That’s what I thought."

She smacks him.  The sound resonates in the room.  Lucian doesn’t move. He simply looks at her.

"Get out," she whispers.

He goes to the door but pauses before leaving. "You may despise me, Isabella. But it won’t alter the fact. You belong to me."

The door bangs behind him.

Isabella leans against the wall, breathing hard. "No, I don’t. I belong to me."

She goes to the mirror, analyzes her image. "You need to stop letting him get into your head."

A tear slides down her face. She wipes it away swiftly.

"Focus, Isabella. There’s still a battle out there. And you’re not done yet."

A Dangerous Proposition

Later that night, the home is quiet.

Isabella sits on the bed, looking at the moon through the window. Her heart is still beating from earlier.  Suddenly, she hears a faint knock. Soft, like a secret.

The door creaks open, and a girl walks inside.

Alessia.

Lucian’s sister.  "We don’t have much time," she murmurs, locking the door behind her.

Isabella rises, astonished. "What are you doing here?"  Alessia rushes to her side. "I’m getting you out. Tonight."

Isabella frowns. "Why? Why would you aid me?"  Alessia looks around, eyes alert. "Because my brother doesn’t lose. And if you remain here, neither will you."

"I don’t understand."

"Lucian is coming apart. This war, Dante, you—it’s all breaking him. He believes he’s protecting you. But he’s going to ruin you both."

Isabella steps back. "So you want me to run? Leave him like this?"

Alessia grips her hands. "No. I want you to fight. But on your terms. Not his."

Isabella hesitates. "Where would I even go?"  "Somewhere he can’t find you. Just long enough to find out who you are. What you desire."

Isabella stares at her. "And what do you want, Alessia?" She ask

Alessia’s face hardens. "I want my brother back. The real one. Not the obsessed, controlling man he’s become."

A long silence passes.  Then Isabella nods. "Alright. I’ll go. But only if you can promise me something."

"Anything." "Help me bring Dante down. Help me complete this." Alessia nods. "Deal." Suddenly, a voice calls from the shadows.

"Going somewhere?"  Both females freeze.  Lucian walks out from behind the door.

His eyes are was cold. And this time, he doesn’t appear like the guy who kissed her.

He looks like the monster she dreaded all along.

"You really thought I wouldn't find out?"  Lucian steps closer to her. "You shattered my trust, Isabella. That… was your worst error ad the mistake."

Isabella’s voice trembles. "Lucian, please… I really wanted to think."

"Think? Or run?" which one did you plan to do?  His tone is harsher now. "You had a choice. You chose betrayal."

Alessia moves forward. "She didn’t betray you! I told her everything! I delivered her the truth!"

Lucian doesn’t glance at his sister. His eyes are solely on Isabella.

"You were mine," he murmurs. "And now… I don’t know what you are."

He turns to go but stops. "Lock the doors. No one gets in or out unless I say so."

The guards outside nod, edging closer.  Lucian walks away, leaving Isabella in astonishment.

She turns to Alessia. "What now?"  Alessia’s voice is barely a whisper. "Now we fight harder. Because the guy we thought we knew… he’s gone."

And somewhere in the distance, a phone lights up with a message from Dante:

“Now the real game begins what could be the game.”  Story continue.
