Chapter 163 A new crush
Chapter 165
Eileen's POV
After seven hours of travelling, we finally arrived in Maldives.
The moment I stepped out of the car, I was welcomed by the warm breeze that brushed against my face, and I looked around the resort with my mouth slightly parted. Everything looked beautiful, almost like one of those places I had only seen in pictures. The palm trees moved gently with the wind, the clear blue water stretched far into the distance, and the entire place looked so peaceful that anyone would have thought there was nothing in the world to worry about.
But somehow, I still had something bothering me.
Ryan.
I quickly shook my head, trying to push his face away.
"Eileen."
I turned around and saw Melissa standing beside me. She grabbed my hands and squeezed them.
"Why are you so moody?"
"I'm not moody."
"You are." She narrowed her eyes at me. "You've barely smiled since we left home."
I forced a smile. "See? I'm smiling."
"That is not a smile." She rolled her eyes. "That's the smile people give when they don't want someone to ask questions."
I chuckled softly.
"Just cheer up, Eileen. We're in Maldives!"
She stretched her hands out and spun around, laughing.
"Look at this place! We're supposed to enjoy ourselves. Whatever is bothering you can wait until we get back home."
I nodded.
She was right.
Whatever was happening with Ryan could wait.
At least for these few days, I needed to forget about him.
"I'll try," I promised.
"Not try. You will enjoy yourself."
I laughed."Okay.”
After we checked in, everyone was given their rooms. I stood there waiting to hear who I would be sharing a room with, only to discover that I had been given a room to myself.
I frowned."Why am I alone?"
Before anyone could answer, Melissa winked at me.
I immediately understood.
Don't say anything so I closed my mouth.
Melissa and Anna were staying together, while I had my own room. I wasn't sure why, but I decided not to question it.
Maybe they just wanted me to have some privacy.
Or maybe there was another reason.
I didn't want to think about it.
I took my luggage to my room and dropped it beside the bed. I walked toward the balcony and pushed the glass door open.
The view was breathtaking.
I leaned against the railing and stared at the ocean.
For a moment, I forgot everything.
Then Ryan's face appeared in my mind again.
I groaned."Seriously?"
I couldn't even enjoy a beautiful view without thinking about him.
There was a knock on my door. I turned around and opened it.
Anna stood outside."Eileen, we're going to the beach."
"The beach?"
"Yes." She smiled. "There is going to be a night show. Native dancers, music, a buffet and everything. You shouldn't miss it."
I hesitated."I'll come later."
"Why later?"
"I have a runny stomach."
Anna stared at me."Runny stomach?"
I nodded quickly."Yes."
She looked suspiciously at me."I'm serious."
"Fine." She shrugged. "But don't take too long."
"I won't."
She turned around, but before she could leave, I called her.
"You guys can go. I'll find my way there."
"No."
I frowned."Why?"
"Melissa said she's waiting for you."
I sighed.
Of course.
Anna walked away, leaving me standing at the door.
A few minutes later, another knock came.
I already knew who it was
Melissa entered without waiting for me to open the door properly.
"So, runny stomach?"
I rolled my eyes."I just didn't feel like going."
"Because you're thinking about Ryan."
I glared at her."Can we please not start?"
She laughed."Fine. Come here."
"What?"
"I'm dressing you."
I frowned."I can dress myself."
"I know, but I want to."
Before I could protest, she had already started opening my luggage.
After a while, she picked out a bikini and held it up.
I stared at it."No."
"Yes."
"Melissa."
"Eileen."
"It's too revealing."
"It's a bikini!"
"I know."
She laughed."You wanted a boyfriend, remember?"
I groaned."That was a mistake."
"No, it wasn't."
She eventually convinced me to wear it, then helped me with my makeup and pulled my hair back neatly. She tucked a small flower beside my ear and stepped back to admire her work.
"Beautiful."
I looked at myself in the mirror. I had to admit, she did a good job.
"You look hot," she added.
I rolled my eyes."Stop."
"I'm serious."She grabbed my hand. "Come on. Let's go before the food finishes."
We walked toward the beach together, and the sound of music became louder as we approached. There were lights everywhere, tables filled with different kinds of food and people gathered around watching the dancers perform.
I looked around in amazement."This place is beautiful."
"I told you."
Melissa pulled me closer."Now smile."
I smiled.
For the first time since we arrived, I actually felt a little lighter.
Maybe this trip wasn't going to be so bad after all.
We walked through the crowd, and Melissa suddenly stopped when she saw some people she knew.
"Wait here. I'll be right back."
"Where are you going?"
"Just there."
She disappeared into the crowd.
I stood there alone, looking around.
I wasn't paying attention to where I was going when someone suddenly bumped into me.
"Oh!"
I stumbled backward.
Something fell onto the sand.
"I'm sorry," I quickly said, bending down.
The other person also moved at the same time, and our hands almost touched as we both reached for the object.
I froze.
I slowly raised my head.
And my words disappeared.
The man standing in front of me was staring at me.
He was tall, with dark hair that looked slightly messy from the sea breeze, and his shirt was loosely fitted against his body. There was something calm about his face, but his eyes were sharp enough to make me suddenly aware of how close we were standing.
For a few seconds, neither of us said anything.
I blinked.
He looked at me, then at the object lying between us.
"Are you okay?" he finally asked. His voice was deep.
I swallowed."Yes."
"You're sure?"
I nodded."I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going."
He bent down and picked up what had fallen.
It was a pocket vibrator.
He looked at it for a moment before slipping it into his pocket.
I frowned."Is that yours?"
He looked back at me."Yes."
"Oh."
I didn't know what else to say.
He studied my face for another second before giving me a small nod.
"It's fine."
I nodded too."Okay."
I turned around, ready to leave, but something about the encounter made me glance back.
He was still standing there.
And he was looking at me.
Our eyes met again. My heart jumped.
I quickly looked away. What was wrong with me?
I had spent the entire day trying to forget Ryan, and now the first handsome man I bumped into was making me nervous.
"Are you okay?"I heard Melissa's voice behind me.
I turned around and saw her walking toward me with a confused expression.
"Yes."
She looked behind me, then back at me.
"Who was that?"
I shook my head."Nobody."
"Nobody?"
"Yes."
She looked at the man again, but he had already turned away and was walking toward the other side of the beach.
Melissa gave me a suspicious look. "Eileen."
"What?"
"You were staring."
"I wasn't."
"You were."
I rolled my eyes."Can we just go and get food?"
She laughed."Fine."
I followed her, but before I turned completely away, I looked back one more time.
The man had disappeared into the crowd.
I didn't know his name.
I didn't know why he was here.
And I certainly didn't know why meeting him had made my heart beat that strangely.
But one thing was certain.
For the first time since I left home, I wasn't thinking about Ryan, and somehow, that scared me more than anything.
