Chapter 155 Die
Chapter 155 Die
Chapter 157
Ryan pov
Slap!
The pain burns at my cheeks as my mother’s hands landed on my cheeks.
She's never felt this furious with me. Her eyes were a burning brimstone.
“If you want him alive you have to steer off any path from him!” Her command was sharp.
It was as if a general were barking a command.
“I’m trying to save you, Ryan. Don't say I didn't try to,” her voice quivered with whatever. “You always said I killed your dad. Now, don't come tormenting me in the dream that I killed you also!”
She walked past me.
“I’d rather die than for Eliot to take the blame for what you clearly did!” My voice was layered with pain.
“You have no idea what sacrifices are, right?” Her brows shot up.
I shrugged my shoulders. “If sacrifices are about taking the lives of the innocent ones, I sure don't want to have an idea,”
“Don't frustrate my efforts! Don't try to make my empathy feel so useless and sinister, Ryan,”
“I just want him, Eliot! I want freedom.”
She yelled. “Unfortunately, you can't get that.”
“I can't get what?” I asked in puzzlement.
“You can't get any of what you've just demanded, Ryan.”
I pursed my lips into a thin line, suppressing the rage which was swelling inside of me.
“Can I disown you as my mother?” The air in the atmosphere seemed to burn, as my mother’s mouth dropped open. “Is that too much to ask for? Would that request make me an ungrateful boy?”
Her lips trembled as she tried to speak, then they pressed together; a dark shadow crossed her face.
Her aura came back alive. She stood tall with her shoulders stretched and her spine.
“If doing anything that would hurt the people who care about you is what you want,” she paused, her fingers digging into her thighs. “Then, go on!”
She walked away swiftly without even sparing me a glance anymore.
“Nothing should happen to Eileen, Eliot, or the little girl!” I walked after her, speaking fast.
“Unfortunately, you don't bargain with the devil! And I’m the wrong person to tell this to,”
“Then who should I meet? Who should I talk to?” I asked.
She wouldn't say anything.
Her new Aide, I supposed, got in my way. He stopped me from following after my mother.
I jabbed my fist in the air at that and ran my hands over my hair.
I do not want to get my hands dirty but I think I made a mistake. I shouldn't have disclosed that I'll disown Mum as soon as this.
I should've gathered a lot of evidence that would have brought her down, then I submit them to the cops and she'd be down right before she even won her elections.
I was so overwhelmed with my emotions that I didn't set my priorities well.
Now, I’d have to apologize to mum and tell her things I've promised not to indulge myself with.
I hissed, gritted my teeth and my fist clenched in frustration.
As if I wasn’t even suffering enough, Eileen's thoughts crossed my mind, and now?
I was fucking thinking about her, hoping she would be safe.
I returned to my room and slipped under my duvet.
I felt sleepy whenever I was frustrated. I was pretty sure when I woke up, I would be able to think straight.
\~~~~
Hours had passed cause the sun was shining now and my room was no longer dark as before.
I walked over to my window to pull the blinds apart, and I was almost blinded by the light.
I cursed under my breath and returned to the bed, with my head hanging low.
Several thoughts were running through my head.
My hands were tied but I just knew that soon they wouldn’t be tied.
I dressed up for school cause I knew that would be the only way to see Eileen. To know if she’s okay and if Mother had sent anyone after her.
Then the little girl. My mind drifted to her.
Guilt ate my mind.
For all I care, I wished I was the one in the vulnerable state of that little girl other than her.
A lone tear dropped but that doesn’t mean I was a coward.
I just don’t want people around me to get hurt. I just want everyone to be okay.
I stepped out of my room, all dressed for school and Mum was walking out of her wings down to the sitting room.
She scanned me with her eyes with a glint of disbelief in them.
I could see the sly curve on her upper lip before it faded.
“Good morning, Mum,” I said and she stopped in her tracks, turning back to look at me.
She smiled after scrutinizing me for a minute. “Good morning Ryan, how was your night?”
“I slept so well,” I smiled, but that was a lie.
My night was full of nightmares. I couldn’t even concentrate because my thoughts were about the three most vulnerable persons in my life at the moment.
“It shows well on your face. I can see that you’re fully dressed for school,”
I smiled widely.
“Anything for breakfast, mother? Did you cook anything?” I asked.
She gave a light chuckle.
“Oh, now. I’m forced not to think that you’re up to something with your sudden niceness.”
I stared at her, the smile slowly leaving my face.
“Mother you prefer my hostile side? My cold attitudes?” I asked.
She didn’t utter anything but to divert her attention from me to the phone in her hands.
For a moment I stared silently at her, waiting for her response.
She tore her gaze from the phone in her hands to me.
“You know I hate cooking but anything for you. I’d cook tomorrow for you before going to school, but right now I have an interview to catch up with the media,”
“Okay,”
“I can cook when I’m back from the interview and have it delivered to you at school, okay?” She asked.
“I’d appreciate that,”
She stared at me once again with some hideous expressions. She smirked but when our gaze met, she smiled and walked off.
I shouted after her. “Would the authorities be against me going to school since under house arrest?”
