Oceana's Pov.

"Your father and I can never give you what will harm you."

"Mom, you are giving me to someone that will harm me, that's what you are doing and it's not fair, I don't like him."

"Stop acting so childish, do you know how many women want to be his wife, his Luna, do you also know how important he is in his clan? To this clan, we take the best and everyone wants him. Do you know the number of parents trying to get their children betrothed to him?" She persisted.

"Mom, them wanting their children to get involved with him doesn't mean we are the same. Those people just want power and fame, of course, they know what they are chasing after, I don't want this to happen, I don't want to get married, I'm already wealthy and powerful, what else do I want from him, I don't need him, I am doing just fine."

"Shut up your dirty mouth, Oceana, you are an Alpha, you should know what's best for the clan, don't act childish, you are better than this, not being…"

"I shouldn't act childish, shouldn't I be getting married to the person I love, finding my mate."

"Oceana, you are nearly eighteen.'

"There is nothing near eighteen, I am sixteen, I still have time.'

Well, my child, you don't.' She cut in. "Time is fast approaching, and rumors are spreading like wildfire that you haven't found your mate. Your little brother and his best friend found their mate at such a young age, once they are up to eighteen, they will be getting married to their respective mates, now, ask yourself, where do you stand? A lot of people are talking that a great and attractive Alpha like you hasn't found her mate, what would that make of you? I want you to stop this nonsense and consider him, you are quite young, with time you will understand that what I'm doing for you is for your good." She got up from the bed. "Respect yourself."

"What if I find my mate before I'm eighteen, wouldn't that be disgraceful to the clan and to the Alpha, he will feel so much embarrassed." I pointed out.

"It wouldn't be disgraceful, everyone will understand and know that you are destined by the moon goddess to see your mate. For the meantime, he is a good man, trying to understand you. I've seen how he tries to get your attention by sending you flowers, don't treat him like that, he is a good Alpha."

If only she knew that I had found my mate, her son, my brother is the one.

The Alpha is a complete jerk, he can never be my husband, I don't know why Mom doesn't want to understand that.

"You will be getting engaged to him soon, '' she continued. "Once you are eighteen, you will be getting married to him, if you choose to get married right away, I will prepare the wedding."

I was boiling with rage, my hands were turning red.

"It will be great, especially going through the wedding alongside your brother, Gérard, he is also getting married."

"He is getting married," I shouted.

"Why are you surprised, didn't you see the woman he came with, her name is Emily. She is the woman who is going to get married to your brother, she is a stunning one and your brother chose a good treasure very well, I am proud of him and the only one who remains is Carmine, but that aside, Oceana, I will be walking to my chambers, I shall rest for the next two hours, don't do anything harsh and think about what I have just said, keeping yourself locked up all day wouldn't help you, Oceana. Get up and keep your day going, you are an Alpha." She walked to the door, opening and shutting it behind her, I was in a daze.

I couldn't control myself, I sobbed for hours to no end, it shattered my heart into pieces, Gérard was getting married.

He was abandoning me once again and getting married, how dare he?

I was his mate, how could he leave me and get married without considering how it was going to affect me?

For the next couple of days, I didn't go outside, train or go to school, I didn't even care to see my best friend, Jessie, I just shut everyone out, my mind was too weak and numb to think, even the bitch Emily requested to see me, who does she think she is, I don't want to see her nor my brothers.

I don't want to see anyone.

All of a sudden, I heard someone unlock the door hastily, as he flare it open, his expression wasn't something I could describe at that moment.

Why was he here?

I shifted closer to my bed, relaxing my ass after knowing it was him when Adolph came in with a smile.

"Good morning, Alpha."

"Good morning to you, Alpha Adolph, for barging into my room like some scoundrel," I said and he flickered his white hair behind his hair and walked up to me wearing brown leather clothes and black boots. "I heard you've been hiding in your room all day like a drenched puppy." He teased and I nearly gleamed.

He is a vigorous Alpha.

"And your hair is like an old man's.' I was trying to get back at him but that didn't fit in, since he was handsome.

And also having white hair is part of the clan too, since he's the son of the Lycan King, who collaborates with my father, the Wolf King as the pack calls him.

"Don't care, it shows I'm part of the bloodline of my family and not a fake.' He proudly stated.

A thousand years ago, the Red Lycan Pack were always known for having white hair, a wolf without its hair was condemned and thrown out of the clan, seeing them as phony and at times they didn't spare their lives either and they could do anything to protect their clan.

"Whatever.' I rolled my eyes.

"They both were amazing, the pack wouldn't stop talking about them.' He pointed out and I knew who he was referring to.

"You must have also heard that my brothers are back, the clan's news spread like wildfire across the realms." I sneezed and hugged my chest avoiding his expression.

He took a seat beside me, where my mother sat and sighed. "Aren't you happy that your brothers are back, you have always wanted to see them all these years?"

Adolph is two years older than me, he is also my best friend, Jessie and I both grew up together with him, he is highly from a respected clan, so he knows me so well.

"Did Mom tell you to come to talk to me?'

He shrugged his shoulders. "No, your Mom only told me why you were downcast when I asked her what went on at the chambers." He explained.

My Mom is fond of telling the people I'm the closest to, to come to talk or advise me on certain stuff and I don't like that about her. Just because I'm close to them doesn't mean I always listen to them anyway.

"I see." I rolled my eyes.

"Let's go see them.'

"I don't want to, I want to be all by myself." I said.

Adolph got up and stretched out his hand. "Let's go outside, princess."

I looked at his hand and scoffed. "To do what," I questioned.

"You need some fresh air, this room is already smelling of tears, let the maids come in and clear it up, if you don't want to see them." He laughed.

"Why are you laughing?'

"I'm not laughing, I'm stretching." He rolled his eyes and softly chuckled.

"Seriously," I said.

He finally surrendered. "Okay, you just look so hilarious, your face is funny,' he giggled. "Come on, no playing, get up now." He dragged my hand and pulled me up from the bed. "You are such a lightweight."

Well, I haven't eaten properly for days.

I stood still, after getting my balance and pulled my hand away from him. "I don't want your mate to see me with you and start getting suspicious," I grumbled.

"You are my best friend, she knows that."

"But, she doesn't like me, she looks at me as if every minute now, I'm going to snatch you away from her, she doesn't see me as your best friend."

He laughed. "You understand how wolves are, they love to protect their property and their territory, she's nice."

"That doesn't mean, you will attack anyone that comes across it, the person might just have good intentions," I added.

"Well, not everyone thinks like you do, Oceana, unless you prove it to them." He said and pointed to the door. "Follow me, let's work through the garden and discuss specific stuff."

Adolph was more than six feet tall, dark purple eyes, pointed nose, clenched jaw, a handsome man who everyone adored, he was quite muscular, toned muscles, tattoos at his back, and a very white skin and pale pink lips.

When he turned eighteen, he came across his mate and bonded with her. We haven't gotten the chance to see each other as we normally do, since he mated with her. His mate is an attractive lady with almond silhouette eyes, everyone loves her. She's super kind but she has this tendency to be extremely jealous when anyone, especially a female comes close to her mate. I sometimes wonder what she thinks in that head of hers.

I sighed and followed him through the hallway, passing the maids then stopped midway.

Adolph must have noticed I wasn't following next to him and swiveled to me. "What is it?'

I know I shouldn't be asking or saying this but I'm super curious about what he thinks of them.

"If…if you find out, I mean hypothetically." I shut my eyes and opened them and gaze at his dark purple eyes. "Your sister…I mean if you find out your sister is your mate, what are you going to do, Adolph."

"You mean, my sister. The biological one." Adolph has a pretty younger sister, who loves to brag about her clan, and she's pretty strong too. Well, we don't usually get along, because she is always trying to compete with me in everything I do to show how good she is and Adolph being who he is, loves to call some people his siblings because of how friendly they are.

"Yes,' I nodded.

He thought for a moment and said. "It's kind of complicated because it's a taboo and it's been banned for a thousand years and burnt out of history. If such a thing still exists, one of them has to die." He revealed.

My eyes lit up in shock.

"Yes, Oceana,' he looked away from me and repeated the same words. "One of them will have to die or else they will both die."

"Why? They were ordained by the moon goddess, why should they die." I quickly reacted.

"I don't know, more stories about them were sold out a thousand years ago, I don't know much but if we are caught reading such books, they will have our heads. The realms are not going to take it likely."

"Those…those people, were they ever together till the end."

"That, I don't know Oceana,' he sighed. "By the way, why are you talking about this?'

I shook my head. "It's nothing, I just heard some rumors." Acting like it was nothing to talk about.

"Well, that kind of mate is forbidden." he finally spoke.

"Huh." I sighed. I know so little about them, yet, I'm scared.

Terrified, I'd never in my life dream of such a thing happening, our home has always been a peaceful one but what was going on?

Why can't I have what I want? Why is Gérard my mate of all people?
