Chapter 190 Boyle is alive

Chapter 190 Boyle is alive
Butler Rose unfolded it and got the shock of her life. The note read:

YOUR FIRST SON IS ALIVE

She gasped. The first young master is alive.

She heard the honking of cars and looked outside the window. General Richard stepped out, followed by Edward. She panicked.

What was she supposed to do now?

She folded the paper and slipped it into her apron, then made her way out of the study.

Giving this to Richard could endanger her son. She gripped the paper tightly in her apron.

“Mother.”

She heard a familiar voice and turned. She slipped the note deeper into her apron.

She turned, surprised. “Killian, you are here.” She pulled him into a hug.

“I came for the funeral and to be with Eva,” he explained.

She pulled back and brushed his hair. “Thank goodness you are here. Don’t leave this house today. Go stay in my room. It’s the left room down the hall. My name is written on it. Stay there if you feel like resting. Don’t go to your penthouse, okay?”

Killian frowned. “But why? Is something wrong?”

“I will explain later, okay? Just do as I say.”

Reluctantly, he nodded. There was no harm in staying. As long as he was under the same roof as Eva, he didn’t mind.

Butler Rose went to the living room where both generals were seated. Now that her son was here, Edward had nothing against her. She just needed to get him away from Richard so she could tell him about the note.

“Welcome home, General,” she greeted Richard.

“My condolences, General Edward. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” she said.

“Thank you, Butler.”

“Is there anything you would like me to get you?”

Her stare lingered on Edward a little longer, which he understood as a signal that she had information for him.

“Fresh ginger tea will soothe me,” Edward responded.

She nodded gently.

“Rose, have the servants prepare a room for him. He will be staying with us for now.”

Her eyes widened slightly but returned to normal within seconds.

“Okay, sir. I will be in the kitchen,” she said, placing a little emphasis on the last words for Edward.

She turned and left.

Maverick dropped Eva on the bed. She didn’t let go of him.

This was his matrimonial room, but since the building was completed and they moved in, he had never laid down on the bed before.

“Maverick, please don’t ever leave me. I’m so alone. My brother left me, and now my mother left me too. It hurts so bad I can’t even breathe,” she choked as she spoke.

Maverick’s hand rubbed her back.

Things were getting messy. He wanted a divorce. He had promised to go to Heaven. He had been busy with the missing ammunition, but he still had time to prepare the divorce papers.

He couldn’t give them to her now that she was like this, right? They still shared a daughter.

“Maverick, promise me, please.”

“Havilah has been alone. I will check on her so she doesn’t get worried.” He gently peeled her hand off him and stood up.

“I will tell the servants to prepare a warm bath for you and serve you calming tea,” he added before walking out of the room.

Eva stared at the door he had left through.

It was one step at a time. He was opening up to her.

She lay back on the bed.

Her mother had committed suicide. But why?

Something was wrong, and she needed to ask her father.

The door opened and Killian filled the doorway. He held a tray in his hands.

Eva immediately sat up, fear and panic in her eyes.

“I hate when you look at me like that, Eva. I will never hurt you,” he said calmly.

He walked over, placed the tray on the table, and poured the contents of the kettle into the cup.

“You shouldn’t be here, Killian. My husband is around. Please just leave.”

He sat on the bed and stretched out his hand, offering her the cup.

“Why would you still care about him when he can leave you at your lowest, Eva?”

She swatted the cup, spilling the contents on the bed.

“He doesn’t threaten me.” She lay down, turning her back to him.

“He doesn’t need you desperately like I do, Eva.”

He adjusted the duvet to cover her, then lay down beside her.

“I will give you time to sort out what’s left. But I can’t stay away from you or our daughter for long.”

“Killian, please leave,” Eva said weakly.

“No. Get some sleep.”

The servant Maverick had sent to prepare a bath for Eva stood outside in shock, holding a tray in her hands. She quietly stepped back.

Maverick walked into Havilah’s room.

The little girl sat in the tent house in her room with her iPad.

“Avi,” Maverick called.

She set the iPad down and peeked out.

“Daddy.”

She crept out and hugged him. Maverick lifted her up.

“How are you, baby?”

“I’m fine now that you are here. I was scared because I couldn’t find mommy or you,” Avi said truthfully.

“We are here now. Is mommy doing better? She hasn’t been okay.”

“She will be fine.”

Maverick sat down on her princess bed with her on his lap, brushing her blonde hair.

“Havilah.”

She lifted her eyes to look at him.

“Mummy and daddy are not going to be together anymore—”

“Don’t you want me anymore, Daddy? But I don’t mind sharing you with Liam. Please don’t leave me.” Her eyes glistened as she hugged him tightly.

Maverick froze.

“You know Liam?” he asked her.

She nodded as tears fell from her eyes. “He is my friend.”

“Avi, not being with mommy doesn’t mean I would leave you. You are my daughter. You don’t have to choose between us. You can be with any of us anytime you want, okay?” he explained, wiping her tears.

“Mummy said you would leave us for Liam and his mama. Is that true, Daddy?”

What had Eva been telling her?

“I would never leave you, Havilah. I promise.”

Avi nodded.

Maverick stayed with her. Havilah happily showed him all her comics, her favorite toys, and her games.

She invited him into her tent. Maverick barely fit inside, but he squeezed himself in, even though half his body stuck out.

“Daddy, Grandpa said I would be a soldier, but I don’t want to. I don’t like guns and fights. I don’t want to be away all the time working like you. So I decided I would be an artist just like mummy.”

Maverick chuckled. “You can be anything you want. Daddy is here. I will support you.”

“Okay. I draw a lot, Daddy. See!”

She handed him her drawing book.

Maverick flipped through the pages.

She was really talented, just like Eva.

He realized he didn’t know much about her.

She had drawn the lake behind their house, a butterfly, and many other things.

Maverick kept turning the pages until he reached one where he saw a familiar emblem.
