Chapter 85 - Did you miss me?

Dimitri.

“Dimitri, please! I have told you. I had nothing to do with her murder." Turns out the maid in the house who was involved was Bianca Torres. The unfortunate thing is that she was killed before I got to her. It was made to seem like a robbery when she went to shop for groceries but I know better. I know that she was a pawn in their game and they no longer had any use for her. I was very close to uncovering the truth. I just knew that she would have spilled but I did not get to her first and they will suffer for it “But you know who did and I want a name." I feel no pity for him. Not when he coughs out blood nor when he cries and pisses himself like a child. Pussy!

“Please, we are not given such information." I wonder how much he is paid to lie through the pain. I first use the hammer on the table to hit his right-hand multiple times before I take out the knife and cut off two fingers. I still have not been able to locate her in a little over a month and my patience has run out. It took me some time to get to him and I have left enough dead bodies for them to know that I mean business and that I am coming for them. I am on the verge of losing everything and I will make sure to take them to hell with me.

“Then who has the information I need?" He hesitates “Whether you leave here alive or not depends on my mood. I am the one you should fear right now. You either give me what I want or I will have them replace you with Monica." His eyes open wide when I make mention of his pregnant girlfriend.

“No please don't."

“I already sent someone to fetch her for me. Do you want to tell me now or should we wait till she gets here?"

“No. Please have mercy!! It was Trace Summers. I heard him take a call and he was asked to come in for a job a picture was sent and it was the woman. The same woman."

“Now, that wasn't so hard. If you had told me all of these from the onset, you might never have had to come here. But you not only wasted my time and energy, you also lied to me."

“Please I'm..." Gurgling sounds bounce around the room as I slit his throat with the knife. I wipe off my hands as I make my way out of the basement and back to my study.

“He gave me a name," I say to Carter “Trace Summers."

“Well, that has to wait for now. Vanessa put on her phone for five minutes and I have been able to track them down." I take the laptop from him. He finally found her after so long. After a month.

“They are in Wyoming."

“Then that's where we are going. Get the jet ready." I change out of my clothes and we proceed to the tarmac. A few weeks ago, I received a text from an untraceable number saying she is fine. I had a feeling that it came from Hayden. But it could also be from her captors. It made me even more restless.

Soon, we arrive at Wyoming and go straight for the location her phone was tracked to. “Where are they?" I ask as we pass a market.

“I cannot tell. It was traced to this area but I could not get the exact location. At least we are here."

Brian stayed back to be with his family and Trent stayed back to track down Trace Summers so that he does not catch on to what we are doing and go into hiding. Carter and I are here with a few guards in case we are to put on a fight. I will not let them keep her away from me anymore.

I am still looking around when I catch sight of someone leaving a supermarket and I smile. I finally got you.

“What has got you smiling like a psycho?" Cater voice breaks the silence.

“Look over there." I point to the person and he also smiles as he starts the car. We signal for the others to follow.

“Would you look at that? Our magic map. She will lead us right to them."

She gets into a car and we follow but make sure to maintain our distance. She leads us through a long road and a place with a building and a large land mass. That must be where they are. We get out of the car and walk the remaining distance to the house. I tell the other guards to wait for my signal before they move. Diana was able to leave for the market. Maybe they are not being held captive after all. It is too easy to get into the house and I walk in silently.

“It is almost noon and they are all still asleep. What was everyone doing at night?" She asks herself and bites on an apple. We stay silent then Carter walks slowly until he is behind her and then, grabs her from behind and catches her mouth before she can scream and blow our cover.

“Relax! It's just us." He turns her around to face me and her face pales. I love the element of surprise. It makes me see the truth through people's faces and not schooled expressions. I get to see the true, raw reactions of people. Makes it easy to read them.

“Where is she?" She points up.

“I'll let you go and you will take us there. Quietly. Do you understand, love?" She nods in response and he releases her.

“How are you...how did you find us?"

“We just did," Carter responds.

“Hayden is out and Tianna is in there." He does not need to be told twice. We get to a door and she opens it. The room is bright with white and pastels making the room light and warm. The bed is in the middle of the room and there she is wrapped up under a blanket. “There she is."

“I don't trust that the people here are not out to harm you, so I expect that you keep my presence here a secret until I meet them." She nods again in response and I shut the door.

I walk to the bed and sit beside her sleeping figure. She looks so peaceful, so beautiful. To think that this same person carries a storm when she argues. I take off my shoes and lay beside her. I have missed having her next to me. Her coconut and vanilla scent makes me relax and steadies my heartbeat. I move the blanket a bit to reveal her belly. It has grown bigger since I last saw her so I put my hand on it to feel my child. She stirs when the baby kicks once and then twice and then again making me smile. It's like he acknowledges my presence. He knows I am here.

“Shhh, baby. Let's not wake mummy up. She needs to rest up for our journey back home." I move my hand to her hair and then cup her face and she snuggles closer to me. I have also missed her so much. I can't remember the last time I had this much peace.

I lay my head on her pillow and kiss her forehead. People may think I am crazy for staring like this but I want to make sure she does not slip away when I move my eyes. I want to keep looking at her. It's like my eyes are the only things that can capture her soul and keep it with me. My ring and a piece of signed papers were not enough the last time.

After a half hour of lying in the bed with her, she stirs awake and opens her eyes and they come in contact with mine. Her honey ones stare into mine. She does not look surprised. Maybe she was dreaming of me. She cups my face and I pull her close by her waist and that is when the fear and surprise registers. She tries to push back from me but I hold her in place.

“Dimitri,"

“Vanessa, darling."

“Dimitri, how...?"

“What? Are you not happy that I am here? Did you not miss me?" My reaction is a lot calmer than I would have loved it to be but that is her effect on me.

“No Dimitri, I...I didn't"

“You don't need to say anything. At least not right now. We're leaving."

“What? No!" She struggles to get out of the bed because of her body changes and when she does, she moves a few feet away from it. “I am not going back there."

“You do not need to. I can move you to a different house if you want me to. I will move you to a different state or country if it pleases you."

“But it would still be with you. I don't want to." She starts to cry. Am I that horrible or terrifying that she would not want to be with me?

“You do not have a choice. You are my wife and you are carrying my child."

“Dimitri, I could have died in that house or at the hands of that guard and his accomplices!"

“I can and will protect you. You are my wife. My Queen and like I told you before, your place is by my side."

“Please Dimitri don't make me do this." I stare down at her as she comes closer and finally notice her milky thighs under the short blue nightdress. Her hips and thighs have filled out more than before. The sight of them makes me hard. I reach out and touch her through her dress before raising it to feel her naked skin. She moans as my hands come in contact with her skin.

“See? You missed me too. Your body cannot deny it." I breathe her in. God! I have missed this so much. I am about to kiss her when the door is thrown open and I come face to face with the man I should have killed.

“Mum wanted me to bring you breakfast in bed even though I constantly tell her I'm not your maid..." He is holding a breakfast tray. The smile falls off his face as he sees me but it's back on his face in no time. It is like he deliberately wants to piss me off. Why the hell was he bringing her breakfast?

“Dimitri, nice to see you again." I walk up to him and throw my fist in his jaw causing the tray to fall. I don't give him the time to recover before I punch him again.

“Dimitri, please stop!!" Why is she trying to help this lying bastard who probably wants to kill her. She thinks he is full of integrity because he helped her escape an attack. But I know better and I know that I am going to kill him for coming close to her.

He dodges the next punch, uses his right hand to block it and then sending me back with one of his own but I do not stop. I reach to my back and take out the gun in my hand. Vanessa's screaming does not stop and soon enough the room is full of other people. I see Hayden coming out from the side but Carter stops him and points his gun at him.

I look around now and notice that we are in their spacious hallway. “Dimitri, you do not have to do this. I'll go back home with you. I'll do anything you want but please, don't shoot him." It infuriates me that she keeps pleading on his behalf.

“Go ahead. Do it." He taunts with a smile on his face so I shoot him a little below his shoulder earning loud screams from the women present including Vanessa who is holding on to my bicep as if her strength would be enough to move me. He falls to his knees “That must hurt but I won't kill you until you tell me who sent you."

“Dimitri, he is innocent. I promise."

“Why the fuck do you keep defending him. He isn't who you think he is. His name isn't even Warren Evans like he told you!!!" The look on her face isn't one of surprise which means that she knows his real identity. I point the gun at his head aiming to kill.

“Dimitri, think this through. We can settle this..." Another scream erupts following the sound of the gun.

A woman throws herself between the imposter and the gun “I won't let you hurt him." It a voice I recognize too well but it belongs to a person who is supposed to be dead. She turns around slowly to face me with tears in her eyes. I stumble backwards but I keep a firm grip on the pistol.

“Please Dimitri, don't." Impossible. There is no way this is real.

“Mom?!" I hear something drop to the ground and I turn around to find Vanessa unconscious on the floor.
