CHAPTER 150
CHAPTER 150
POV ELIZABETH
“What is it?” I asked excitedly, sitting up in bed. He pulled a small black box from his pocket and handed it to me, and I immediately opened it. “My love, it’s beautiful, but where did you get this photo?” I asked, smiling and emotional at the same time.
“I got this photo from your mother, the day she moved here. I wanted to surprise you, and she gave it to me. Do you like it? She said you loved this photo because it was the very first one your father took when he bought your family’s first camera.” Matthew said, looking at me. I got on my knees on the bed, holding my gift, hugged him, and then showered him with kisses.
Matthew gave me a gold necklace, and on the pendant there were tiny diamond stones, along with a picture of me as a child and one of baby Elena, and our names engraved on it.

After an incredible night, waking up next to the one you love is wonderful. Opening my eyes and seeing my handsome husband is priceless, and stepping out of the bedroom to see my little princess still sleeping is something indescribable. I felt I had truly found happiness: my family!
After waking Elena, giving her a bath, and getting her ready, we went downstairs for another breakfast, and there were Mad and Emma. We greeted them and joined their table, and while we had breakfast, we talked.
“I heard that someone here got really close to Wesley during the party,” I said, looking at Emma, and popped a piece of bread in my mouth.
“Yes, we talked a little, but he’s so full of himself. He thinks way too highly of himself.” Emma said seriously.
“I’ve heard that before… and I’ve also heard that whoever complains the most is usually the one who wants it the most.” Mad said with a smile, and we continued breakfast between laughter and small talk.
After breakfast, we went to the garden, and while Matthew played with Elena, Emma, Mad, and I sat on the grass, enjoying the sun and chatting.
“So tell us, Emma, was there any spark between you and Wesley?” Mad asked, looking at her.
“Of course not. That Wesley is arrogant—totally not my type.” Emma replied, looking away.
“For someone who thinks he’s arrogant, you sure gave him a lot of attention.” I said with a smile and nudged Mad, who burst out laughing.
“Not true. You two are just making fun of me.” Emma said seriously, a bit annoyed.
“But admit it, Emma, Wesley is gorgeous—handsome and spectacular.” Mad said, sighing.
“If you think he’s all that, why didn’t you stay with him?” Emma shot back.
“Because it wasn’t meant to be… he’s handsome, yes, but not for me! Some things in life just can’t be explained, they’re simply lived. I believe we’re all born with our destinies already written, with someone meant for our lives. And even when we try to run from it, life always finds a way to bring that person back or place them in our path. And Wesley is definitely not for me.” Mad said thoughtfully.
“Hmm, you’re very inspired today, Mad!” I said with a smile, and she smiled back.
“And I can guarantee, if he’s not for you, he’s even less for me.” Emma said seriously.
“Emma,” I called, and she looked at me, “what about your boyfriend? Did you two break up?” I asked.
“It’s been a while. He was too immature.” Emma replied seriously, and Mad and I burst out laughing.
“Says the adult one.” Mad teased, and we smiled.
And that’s how we spent our Sunday—laughing and talking nonsense. My mother had already left on her honeymoon with James, and Dan had traveled to visit his family and deliver the wedding invitations. Mad didn’t want to go with him, so she spent the day driving Matthew crazy and making us laugh a lot.
Weeks later...
After many conversations, Matthew and I decided we didn’t want to find out the baby’s gender ahead of time. We chose to wait and discover it together at birth. The emotion would be so much greater—finding out in that exact moment, along with the joy of bringing another child of our love into the world.
The preparations for Mad’s wedding and Elena’s little party were in full swing. We decided not to do anything big for Elena—it would be a small party with just a few guests and lots of fun for her. After the holiday festivities, we focused entirely on the wedding, since Elena’s birthday was simple, and it didn’t make sense to throw a big party right before the huge wedding celebration for Mad.
Speaking of the holidays, ours was wonderful. As tradition, we spent Christmas celebrating with family, and New Year’s at the beach house—welcoming the new year with love, harmony, and prayers to God for peace, love, and health in the year ahead.
For the first time, I saw Mad so nervous and anxious. There were moments when she admitted she felt completely lost, not knowing what to do. Well, that’s normal. A wedding is such an important moment in our lives, and on that day, we don’t want anything to go wrong.
James’s house didn’t stop receiving presents. And speaking of gifts, Matthew and I gave them their honeymoon trip, fully paid for, to the destination of their choice. As for James, he gave his youngest daughter nothing less than a fully furnished apartment.

After a hearty breakfast, I decided to go out to the garden with Elena, to play a little and enjoy the sunshine. While she ran back and forth, I stopped for a moment, caressed my belly, and felt the wind brush against my face.
“Don’t move, I need to capture this moment.” Matthew said, smiling with his phone in hand. I struck a pose and he snapped a picture. “You look beautiful, my love!” I smiled and walked toward him.
“It’s your eyes.” I hugged him, and he kissed my chin. “So, how did it go at the doctor’s?” I asked, with my arms around his neck.
“It went well. But as we expected, according to the doctor, it was a spontaneous recanalization.” He gave me a quick kiss. “But maybe it’s because I’m so fertile, and I have one hell of a sexy wife, so the sperm just didn’t want to stay trapped and decided to go out for a little stroll.” Matthew joked, and we both laughed.
“Daddy! Daddy!” Elena shouted, running toward him and leaping into his arms, and I smiled as I watched the two of them.
Matthew and I were happier with each passing day. And even though people say nothing in life is perfect, my family is the most beautiful perfection created by God...
