CHAPTER 146
CHAPTER 146
POV MATTHEW
I have to confess, it wasn’t easy to make this decision. These past two days, I’ve thought a lot—fought a real battle between heart and reason. Because my heart was screaming at me the whole time that I should stay with her and support her in whatever she needed. To give her and the child all the love and care they needed and deserved in that moment... But my reason was telling me the opposite—that I wouldn’t be able to raise another man’s child.
But the heart won. Love spoke louder, showing me that my life without her made no sense at all, making my reason finally understand that I wouldn’t be able to live without her.
The child Elizabeth is carrying now isn’t the result of betrayal—it’s the result of a separation caused by my betrayal. And as Henry himself said, it’s the consequence of my actions. I needed to go through this to understand the magnitude of the damage my mistake caused us... And between raising another man’s child and losing my family again—I choose my family. I choose my wife, my daughter, and this new life that’s coming to bring us joy. I chose to be happy.
I love Elizabeth too much to bear living without her again. Our love is bigger than all of these obstacles, and because of that, I understand now that together we can overcome anything.
Even though we started the wrong way, I believe she is the woman God chose for me. She was the one meant to change my life and make me the man I am today.
Today, I’m proud of the man I’ve become. And I know that if I’ve truly become a man, it’s because of her. Because of her, I got this far.
I know it won’t be easy to raise another man’s child. I also know that this baby is a reflection of my betrayal and my mistakes. But I was sincere, and I meant every word when I said I would love that child as if it were my own—that there would be no difference between this baby and Elena. Because I will give it my all to make that true. I’ll do my best—I’ll be the best father and the best husband, always.
Two Weeks Later
I turned to the side and realized I was alone in bed. I leaned up a little and looked around, and it was clear Elizabeth wasn’t in the room. I got up and looked for my boxers, spotting them on the floor with the rest of our clothes, and got dressed.
If Elizabeth was already fiery before, now with the pregnancy, she’s even more. We make love every single day—at home, at the office—she gives me no rest...
I found her in the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror doing her makeup, wearing nothing but panties and a bra. I leaned against the doorframe, crossed my arms, and just watched her. Admired her, really—her little belly was starting to show.
“It’s already starting to show,” I said, eyes on her belly. She looked at me and smiled.
“It is, yeah... I’ve been thinking about how I’ll look at Mad’s wedding,” she looked at me, “with a giant watermelon in my belly.” She rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to the mirror, starting to apply her lipstick.
“You’re going to look gorgeous, my love.” I came up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist as I gazed at her through the mirror. “Why’d you wake up so early? Going somewhere?” I asked gently, breathing in her delicious scent.
“I am, babe. Today’s going to be crazy—I’ve got a ton to do and take care of,” she said seriously, watching me through the mirror.
“Is it really that important? Getting up this early on a Saturday?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, yeah, babe—it’s not every day your mom marries your father-in-law,” she said with a grin.
“True. And it’s not every day your dad marries your mother-in-law either,” I said, laughing. “But the wedding’s not until late afternoon—no need to wake up so early,” I said seriously.
“Love...” she turned to face me, “I have to take care of the final wedding details. I’m taking my mom to the spa for her bridal day, then I’m going out with Mad. And later, I’m heading to the spa myself,” she said, all business. “But speaking of going out—tell me, how was your guys' night yesterday? Where’d you go?” she asked, looping her arms around my neck.
Last night, we threw my dad his bachelor party. Actually, we decided to start having a guys’ night every Friday, and the girls would have their own. Then Saturday nights are for couples—we go out with friends to have fun together. And Sundays are just for family, and at night, we go out to dinner. That way, our marriage doesn’t fall into a routine.
“I was going to tell you when I got home last night, but you didn’t give me a chance—with all that fire,” she laughed and gave me a quick kiss. “We went to Wesley’s club. Threw my dad’s bachelor party there. There were some seriously hot strippers doing their thing... It was fun. And what about you girls? What did you get up to?” I asked casually, and she narrowed her eyes at me.
“Nothing special...” she smirked, “we just invited a few go-go boys and had a private pool party. Some of them had this... intense way of dancing—you should’ve seen it,” she said, trying to look serious. I burst out laughing.
“Oh yeah, smartass? I can just picture your mom in the middle of them dancing.” We both laughed, and I grabbed her by the waist, lifting her onto the bathroom counter. She wrapped her legs around my hips. “You think their intense moves are better and hotter than mine?” I asked with a playful smile, and she bit her lip.
“I don’t know... I guess I’ll have to try yours to be completely sure...” she replied, her gaze wicked, and I couldn’t help but smile.
I kissed her neck, and she closed her eyes, letting out a soft moan. I pulled my cock out of my boxers, slid her panties to the side, and began rubbing it at the entrance of her wetness—and she moaned again, digging her nails into my back.
