Chapter 16
Scarlet's POV.
Like hungry wolves that want to devour their prey once they catch it, this journalist and reporters started running after us. I felt my heart racing to the beat, and before we could even realize it, we reached the parking lot.
“Who the hell leaked the news? Weren't we supposed to give an exclusive interview tomorrow about the announcement of my becoming the CEO?” Whoever leaked the news should go to hell for real.
These journalists and reporters don't look like they want to interview me or appreciate me. Instead, it looks like they want to get a hot scoop. And screw me over if even a wrong word comes out of my mouth.
Lyla and I ran as fast as we could, as if our lives depended on it. We hide behind the black car, and my heart is still racing as those people keep looking for us in the parking lot.
“Really, who leaked this news?” I asked once again, and Lyla shook her head. Of course, how would she know?
We waited until everyone got tired of looking for us and left the location. And only after confirming that no one was left behind did we go inside the building.
“Lyla, is there any person in your mind that can be a perfect fit for Left Wing? Those kids can't be without a coach for too long; it might hinder their future.” I asked Lyla, as she's been working here for many years and has enough experience to read the people.
“Actually, I have three candidates in mind. All these of them are equally qualified if you talk about their professionalism. But I am not sure if they are actually fit to teach these kids.” Lyla took out the file from the wooden shelf and put it in front of me.
“We have three candidates? Are they from this industry? And are you sure they might want to work with us if we approach them?” I asked.
Lyla slid their information file so confidently that it makes me wonder if Lyla knows them personally or if it's just a recommendation or a suggestion.
The file contained three people about whom I have heard somewhere and sometimes in my life. From name to work experience, everything is recorded correctly.
There are many people who can take over the job of teaching the kids, but we are talking about Ray Entertainment Empire and its talent right now, so not just anyone can take over this job. I need to find someone qualified, and the people Lyla recommended somehow seem eligible for this post.
But the real problem right now is hiring them. But will I be able to complete this task successfully?
“According to the information, two of them are working with another agency. But why is the last one not active currently? Why is there such little information about this person?”
“Actually, I didn't want to recommend that person, but he's on the top of my list.” Lyla sounded hesitant about him.
“So you believe he's the perfect person to become our kid's coach?” I asked.
Lyla seems completely sure about this person. I don't trust people easily, but Lyla somehow makes me trust her subconsciously, as if she will never betray me. So I want to believe in her as well, but the last decision will be mine. After all, the responsibility is huge, and this matter is crucial.
“I am sure if our kids learn from him, they can win any competition. But the problem is, I am not sure if he will join us. He's known for his strict requirements and rough personality. Countless people have cried before him till now, just how cold and ruthless he is. And I doubt if he will even consider our offer. I am afraid he might reject us.”
“Why? Ray Entertainment is a well-known name in the entertainment industry. Everyone wants to have a connection with us, whether it's by joining us or having a good relationship with us outside the business. So why will he even reject it?” What kind of person is he? If Lyla is that sure, he might reject us.
“He hates Ray Entertainment. And it's not me who's saying it. Everyone says it. Everyone knows. He has countless times expressed his hatred for Ray Entertainment in his interviews. Last time I met him and tried to talk to him, he ignored me like I was a fly in his milk. It was so embarrassing. I felt like digging a hole and hiding in it at that moment.” Lyla looked completely embarrassed and angry while mentioning that incident. Her ears were red.
“Wow! I had no idea there was someone who could ignore you. Anyway, whether he wants to join us or not, we will know once we go to him and offer him this job. Get ready. We are seeing him soon.”
As the leader of Ray Entertainment, it's my responsibility to see everything. And right now, I need to meet that person.
We reached the parking lot, and I was just about to get inside the car when suddenly my phone started buzzing.
It was a new number, unknown to me. And, yet I picked it up, thinking it might be something urgent.
“How is my little girl doing these days?”
The voice that came from the other side sent chills down my spine. I looked at the number again and put the phone in my ear. I know this voice.
“What do you want from me? Why have you called me?” I asked him in a sarcastic tone.
How can I forget my ex-boyfriend, Ryan? He's the reason I have trust issues. He's one of the factors that contributed to my demise in that house.
“You got married so suddenly, and you didn't even consult with me, your dear boyfriend. But it's okay; I still love you. Leave that man and come back to me.” Ryan sounded confident that I would return to him if he talked to me.
He sounded confident that I still loved him. But I am angry. Just how dare he think I still love him after seeing and knowing what he did to me?
“Lyla, start driving.” I instructed her.
I looked at the number again and smiled sarcastically. Just who does he think he is to decide things for me?
If he were to be in front of me, I would have punched him until he fell out. But unfortunately, I can only hear this trash.
“Why do you think I still love you? I am already married, so having those thoughts is illegal. Get to the point. Why do you call me?” I asked him upfront, and Lyla gave me a curious stare.
“I know my scarlet. She won't ever forget about me. It's just been some days since your marriage, so it's impossible for you to forget about me. Come on, you still love me. You still want me.” Ryan once again sounded like he knew everything about me and my heart.
“I am not your scarlet, and I don't love you. The moment you chose Trista over me, we were done. You went to her despite having me. So there's no way I would still love you. Come out of your delusion; the reality is fast, different, and harsh.”
Ryan cheated on me with my stepsister. He was so happy to have her. So what does he want from me now? Shouldn't he be happy with her?
“Why are you bringing Trista into our matter? You love me. You want me. I know that. So just leave him and return to me.” Ryan became rude and possessive all of a sudden; I could feel it in his voice.
“If you are going to talk nonsense, then I don't think there's any need for us to have this conversation right now. I am busy right now, so hang up the phone.”
“Stop! Don't even try to hang up before hearing what I have to say. Look, I am a man, and every man has some desires and needs. I wasn't getting enough from you; I was unsatisfied with your performance, so I just found someone who could satisfy my needs. But I always loved, and I still do. So I am giving you another chance now. Come back to me.”
“You bastard! Are you even listening to yourself right now? Are you even aware of the nonsense you are vomiting? You cheated on me because I wasn't giving you enough. You are beyond repair. And what is this sudden realization of having me back? You like Trista, don't you? So just live your life with her. Don't disturb me or my husband.” I couldn't hear more and hung up on him.
Trista and Ryan have both gone crazy. None of them knows what they want in life. Or maybe I am the idiot in here. They actually know what they want in life, and they have the capability to fulfill those conditions.
Trista called me that day after she got to know Raymond was no good for nothing. And now Ryan, who called me suddenly, He must have seen the news; that's why he shifted the party. But what is Trista doing, then? Shouldn't she keep an eye on that bastard?
But what can I even expect from them? They went behind my back and got together. Both of them cheated on me too horribly.
“Are we there yet?” I asked Lyla.
She's been driving for the past four hours, but we still haven't reached yet. I even slept on the way and just woke up.
“There's still half an hour before we reach our destination. Miss Scarlet, if you are hungry, there's some packaged food in the backseat; you can munch on it until we reach.” Lyla looked so mature right now that I almost forgot her goofy personality.
“Hey, look in front of you.” I shouted as I saw someone in front of the car.
Lyla panicked and hit the break, but the sound of something falling still came to us. Did we hit someone just now?
