  Chapter 258
  Olivia
  ~•~
“They’ve been able to track those men to an address, we’ll be on our way right now,” Alexander announced to me as he came outside to meet me.
I wiped off my tears with the back of my hand because I couldn’t stop myself from crying earlier after he left me alone.
“I’m coming with you,” I told him before he could even say I should go back home. I was patient enough to sit outside and wait while they were looking for her.
But I couldn’t go back home. I needed to go with them to the location.
Alexander’s face fell. “Olivia, we don’t know what we are up against. What if the place is really dangerous?” He asked. “It took me a lot to even convince the detectives to let me go with them.”
Everything Alexander said to me fell on deaf ears. I was determined to go and nothing any of them could say would make me change my mind.
If Riley was in danger, I didn’t mind being in danger too.
Alexander let out a defeated sigh when he realized that I wasn’t taking no for an answer. “Okay, fine.” He replied. “I’ll have to talk to the detectives first.”
I knew it wasn’t part of their protocol but they needed to understand how badly I wanted to be there. Even if they didn’t let me, I would still follow their cars. So it was better they allowed me.
As Alexander went back into the detective’s office, I pulled out my phone from my bag and called Amanda’s number. She asked for me to keep her in the loop, and I wanted to do just that.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Amanda’s worried voice echoed from the other end of the line as she answered the phone on the first ring.
It was as though Amanda was always on her phone, waiting to receive a call from me. I understood that she felt like she was responsible for Riley’s disappearance, but that wasn’t even the case anymore.
Even if Riley didn’t go to her house, she would have still been kidnapped. From what I had seen on the CCTV footage, whoever took Riley must’ve been planning to do it for a while.
“Riley was kidnapped. We saw footage from the gas station.” My heart broke as I explained the situation to my sister.
Amanda gasped. “What? Are you for real?” His voice was shaking and it took everything in me to hold myself back from breaking down into tears.
I let out a wistful sigh. “Yes.” My voice was barely above a whisper.
“Oh my goodness! Who took her?” Amanda asked with a mixture of fear and curiosity in her voice. “Who would even want to kidnap Riley? What do they want from her?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “I have no idea, Amanda.” The thought of everything made my stomach churn. I felt really terrible knowing my baby was in danger.
“What are the police doing to find her?” Amanda demanded, her voice slightly cracked. “It’s been over two days now, I hope she is safe.”
  I hoped so too.
I didn’t even want to focus on my negative thoughts. I decided to be more optimistic. “I’m certain she’s okay. Maybe the kidnappers just want money or something.”
I was telling Amanda what I wanted to hear.
In the middle of our conversation, Alexander and the detectives came out of the office. “I’ll have to call you later,” I told Amanda before ending the call.
I stood up from my chair and turned to Alexander. “Am I allowed to come with you guys?” I asked, a glimmer of hope in my eyes.
Alexander nodded. “Sure. But if anything happens to us, they won’t be held responsible.” He wasn’t happy with the decision but he had no choice but to allow me.
“Nothing will happen to us,” I assured him as if I could see the future.
We trailed behind the detectives as they made their way to the entrance of the building. They also arranged for a few more police officers to accompany them.
“I hope we find her today,” I spoke as I settled down in the front seat of Alexander’s car. We were meant to drive behind the police cars.
“Me too.” He replied, letting out an exhausting sigh. “I hope it isn’t a dead end.” He added and I nodded in agreement.
I wouldn’t be able to live if it was actually a dead end.
The police cars started driving out and we drove behind them. I had a lot of things to say but I didn’t want to distract my husband as he was focused on the road.
I was really exhausted and decided to close my eyes for a while. I wasn’t sure if I had gotten over an hour of sleep ever since I realized Riley was missing.
A few moments later, I felt a gentle tap on my lap.
“We are here.” Alexander’s voice woke me up from my sleep.
I jerked back to reality and straightened my dress as I looked around the surroundings. It was a deserted area with only a few buildings.
But there were a lot of trees.
The detectives asked us to stay inside the car while they did their jobs. I wanted to go outside badly but Alexander wouldn’t even let me voice out my opinion.
I could tell from the way he stared at me.
Even if I did, he wouldn’t even listen to me.
We watched as the police cars surrounded the building. I had no idea where we even were. “Where’s this?” I asked Alexander as my curiosity got the best of me.
“Someone in New York. I have no idea either.” He replied, his eyes fixed on the gate of the compound. “I’ve never heard of this place.”
About a few minutes later after the policemen went into the building, we heard a loud noise from the building even if we were parked at a good distance away from the house.
My heart flew out of my chest and I couldn’t help but wonder what was happening. “Can we go inside and see?” I asked, my mind racing with different thoughts.
Alexander shook his head. “No, we have to be smart about this.”
A few moments later, the gate swung open and two black SUVs drove out in a hurry. “What if Riley is inside one of those cars? Alexander, we have to stop them!” I exclaimed, my voice rising.
