Chapter 324 Your Matters Are All Important
Olivia also heard the movement behind her and instinctively turned around, meeting Andrew's half-smiling expression.
Olivia didn't expect him to suddenly show up. Startled, she quickly responded to Rodolfo, "Okay, you arrange it. I have something to deal with here, gotta go."
After putting away her phone, she looked at Andrew and asked, "When did you get here?"
She was actually worried that Andrew had overheard her conversation with Rodolfo about those unpleasant matters.
Andrew teased, "Tall, with muscles—so that's your type?"
Olivia didn't expect him to have heard that part. Feeling a bit awkward and afraid he'd misunderstand, she quickly explained, "No, I didn't—it's not what you think."
Andrew nodded, looking at her with understanding, "Then what is it?"
Feeling helpless, Olivia had to tell him, "Mr. McCoy just called to say I start work tomorrow. I'm worried about Bianca, so I asked him to help me find some bodyguards to look after her. That way, even when I'm at the research institute, I won't be constantly worried about her."
Olivia left out the specific reasons.
Andrew nodded, then said, "Why didn't you come to me about this? My people should be just as good as anyone Mr. McCoy arranges."
This sounded a bit like he was competing for her attention.
Olivia almost laughed at her own thought.
She quickly explained, "I just thought it was a small matter and didn't want to bother you with it. You're already busy enough."
But Andrew shook his head, saying, "To me, anything concerning you and Bianca is never a small matter. Besides, I already had people watching, so you don't need to worry. You can focus on your own work."
After discovering that Aurelia had sent people to spy on them last time, Andrew had made arrangements, and those people had never been withdrawn.
Olivia was somewhat surprised to hear this.
She hadn't expected Andrew to have thought of this even earlier than she had.
Olivia couldn't help but wonder—had he also seen that news online?
After a few seconds of silence, she decided to ask directly, "The news from a few days ago—did you know about it too?"
Andrew raised an eyebrow.
So that was why she wanted to hire bodyguards?
The man simply reached out and ruffled her hair, comforting her gently, "Olivia, with me here, the things you're worried about won't happen. As long as you stand firmly by my side, I'll handle everything else. No one can take Bianca away."
Looking at the man's gentle yet determined eyes, Olivia's trust in him didn't diminish one bit.
She nodded, "Yes, I will. I trust you."
As if the pressure on her had been transferred to the person in front of her, Olivia softened completely, immediately moving closer to him and snuggling obediently in his arms.
Andrew gently stroked her head, enjoying this sweet moment.
With Andrew's help, Olivia entered the research institute the next day with peace of mind.
Once she started, she was immediately swamped with work.
There were capability tests and evaluations for new team members, various meetings before projects started, and task assignments...
By the time they actually entered the research and development phase, half a month had already passed with all the preparations.
Because of this, her time with Andrew and Bianca had decreased significantly.
Every night when she came home under the moonlight, Bianca was already asleep.
In the mornings, mother and daughter could still see each other, but only for the brief time during breakfast.
After that, Bianca had to go to school, and she had to continue to the research institute.
As for Andrew, during the first half of the month, he had arranged most of his time for the mother and daughter.
After Olivia got busy, he also started dealing with the backlog of work in his hands, just as busy as Olivia, if not more.
Especially with the Robinson Group—in the few months since Andrew took over, they had tasted the benefits his leadership brought.
Supporters began to shift, hoping Andrew would firmly control the entire Robinson Group so they could all gain more alongside him.
But the other faction supporting his stepmother firmly opposed Andrew.
Whether big or small matters, they always pulled some tricks.
Over time, undercurrents surged within the Robinson Group, breeding quite a bit of trouble.
Andrew acted decisively and boldly, clearing out a wave of troublemakers and cutting off many of their wings.
With more business on his hands, he naturally became even busier.
In the past, Andrew, who appeared at Harmony City's high society events only a few times a year, now showed up at business occasions from time to time.
Sometimes, if lucky, people could see him twice in one week.
But what surprised people was that every time they saw Andrew, the person beside him was either his assistant David or Benjamin.
As for Olivia, who had appeared at that party, no one had seen her even once since then.
After that party, quite a few people had been secretly watching the progress between the two.
Some wanted to curry favor, while others were unwilling to accept that Andrew would marry a woman inferior to themselves, so they wanted to find opportunities to take advantage.
Now that everyone knew Andrew wasn't bringing Olivia around, quite a few people were getting restless.
Rumors flew everywhere.
"Did these two break up?"
"Actually, they were never together."
"Mr. Hamilton probably never liked that divorced woman from the start."
Such comments were endless.
Some even thought that what happened at the party that night was just Andrew helping Olivia out because they were acquainted, to save her face.
Privately, he probably wouldn't even touch her.
How could someone as distinguished as him truly want a divorced woman?
However, the smarter ones naturally didn't see it that way.
After all, Saul's fate was still fresh in everyone's mind—he was still in jail.
Who would mobilize their connections and make such a big fuss just to protect someone they'd just met?
Even close friends who'd go through thick and thin together couldn't do this.
But it was also an undeniable fact that Andrew hadn't brought Olivia out again.
Some speculated that their relationship was probably real.
It was just that Olivia was divorced, and bringing her around would inevitably invite gossip.
Andrew probably also felt embarrassed, so he stopped bringing her out.
More perceptive people thought Andrew was doing this to protect Olivia.
However, regardless of which explanation, almost no one was optimistic about whether the two would make it to the end.
Jade had also heard some rumors, and when she came to discuss business with Evelyn that day, she casually mentioned it.
After hearing it, Evelyn found it ridiculous. "I think they have too much free time! Don't listen to their nonsense. Olivia and Mr. Hamilton are doing just fine! She came to Harmony City to enter the research institute in the first place. Before, she was in an adjustment period, so she had time. Now that the project has started, of course no one sees her. After all, that's a national-level research institute with a closed work environment, and what they're developing is classified. Olivia is destined to be on a different level from those people. Besides, everyone knows Mr. Hamilton goes to business meetings—why would he bring Olivia? Who parades their treasure around for everyone to see?"
Hearing this description, Jade immediately laughed, "I see. As long as they're okay. When I saw them last time, I thought they were well-matched. From appearance to personality to career, they're almost equals. Many people are pessimistic simply because they're blinded by jealousy. They refuse to acknowledge others' excellence and only use the so-called 'divorce' as an attack point. Such people are quite pitiful!"
Evelyn wrinkled her nose, "Those hoping they'll break up are just going to be disappointed!"
Jade changed the subject, "But Olivia not appearing all the time isn't a solution either. There will always be some opportunists trying to get close to Mr. Hamilton."
Evelyn's heart stirred, and she immediately asked, "Is it that Aurelia? Has she stirred up trouble again?"
Last time when Saul showed up, Benjamin said they'd investigated but found no leads.
But she always felt that woman had something to do with it.
She hadn't heard any news about her recently though.
Jade shook her head, "Not sure, but she's been surprisingly well-behaved lately. Aurelia wasn't low-key in the past. When Mr. Hamilton rejected the marriage, I heard she personally went to the Hamilton family to demand an explanation. But during this period, she's been so patient—it's really not like her!"
Not knowing Aurelia well, Evelyn speculated, "Could she have seen Mr. Hamilton's determination and actually decided to let go?"
Jade chuckled. "From what I know of her, impossible. Don't be fooled by Aurelia's gentle appearance! Actually, she's very ambitious! These past few years in Harmony City, she was once called the top socialite, always carrying herself with a superior attitude, and in her heart, she was certain she'd be Mr. Hamilton's future wife. No man other than Mr. Hamilton has ever caught her eye. There's no way she'll just accept being publicly rejected. Besides, with Mr. Hamilton's background and powerful connections, even without love, ordinary people wouldn't easily give him up. You have to know, just by getting him, even your entire family can rise to another level. The Kingsley family members are all shrewd, one more than the next, and they always put interests first. In my opinion, her current silence is just her taking a roundabout approach!"
Evelyn understood now.
It seemed this Aurelia really wasn't simple.
However...
"No matter how much she schemes, as long as Mr. Hamilton isn't interested, she probably can't cause much trouble, right?"
Jade shook her head, "Don't underestimate these Harmony City people, especially those from the top families. They're all very clever, with endless tricks up their sleeves, and they're ruthless when scheming against people! I've dealt with these people since childhood, and even I've miscalculated sometimes. That Aurelia is probably plotting something bad."
