Chapter 274 He Wants to Get a Little Closer

Chapter 277 I'll Go with You

After Yara left, Andrew helped Olivia sit down on the sofa.

He poured her a glass of water, which Olivia quietly took and slowly drank.

Andrew asked from the side, "Feeling bad?"

Olivia's reaction was slow. After a long while, she nodded, then shook her head.

Andrew found it amusing and asked with a smile, "So do you feel bad or not?"

Olivia frowned, taking several seconds before saying, "Feel bad..."

Andrew continued asking, "Where do you feel bad? Does your head hurt?"

Olivia shook her head and said, "No."

Andrew was very patient and asked again, "Then where do you feel bad?"

Olivia stayed quiet, as if thinking.

After thinking for a while, she pointed to her heart and said, "Here. It hurts here."

Andrew was a bit surprised.

However, he seemed to understand why she felt bad, but still deliberately asked her, "Why?"

Olivia's mood was clearly low. She seemed reluctant to talk, or perhaps she was organizing her thoughts. For each question, she stayed silent for several seconds before speaking.

"Evelyn is leaving, Mr. White is leaving too. They're all going away, and I won't have any good friends left."

Her tone was light, but this sentence made Andrew feel like his heart was being twisted.

He asked her, "Can't bear to see them go?"

Olivia nodded obediently and said, "Yeah, Mr. White is really good to Bianca. Evelyn is the best to me and Bianca. And... and... Mr. McCoy, he also went to Harmony City."

She listed the names one by one, and by the end, her voice sounded more and more upset.

"Is Harmony City really that great? Why is everyone rushing there?"

Andrew waited for her to continue, but after listening, he didn't hear her mention his name, which made him somewhat dissatisfied.

Originally, he had planned to have a good talk with her tonight, but he didn't expect her to get this drunk.

However, looking at her innocent expression, Andrew thought that when she was drunk, she might be easier to question.

So he asked directly, "What about me? I'm also going back to Harmony City. Will you miss me?"

Hearing this, Olivia raised her head and looked at him with a fixed gaze.

Andrew's deep eyes were very gentle. He didn't rush her and waited patiently for her answer.

Olivia stayed silent for a long time without making a sound.

Andrew raised his hand and, as if teasing a kitten, gently scratched her chin. His magnetic voice coaxed, "Answer me?"

Olivia held it in for a long time before lightly nodding, "Mm..."

Hearing the answer he was satisfied with, Andrew finally felt happy.

He smiled and said, "Don't want me to leave?"

This time, Olivia still didn't respond to him.

She lowered her eyes, and after a while, said, "Don't want you to leave. But even if I don't want you to, there's nothing I can do."

Her tone made it hard to tell if she was drunk or not. If you said she was drunk, her thinking was quite clear.

She said, "You're from Harmony City. You have your own things to do. Emerald City is just a place where you're staying briefly. You've already helped me and Bianca so much. I can't be selfish, and I have no right to ask you to stay."

Seeing her answer honestly, Andrew looked at her with increasing satisfaction.

Sure enough, when drunk, she was much more obedient than usual and easy to get information from.

Didn't she just say it all?

He continued asking, "So lying to Bianca saying I won't be back for a long time, and deliberately not contacting me—were you trying to distance yourself from me?"

Olivia fidgeted with her fingers. This time, unlike before, she didn't brush him off but said very honestly, "Yes, I did want to distance myself a bit."

Andrew instinctively frowned and asked, "Why?"

Olivia said, "I need to stay away from you, so I won't get in the way of your happiness."

Andrew didn't quite understand what she meant and asked, "What do you mean by that?"

Olivia pressed her lips together. Her expression looked a bit down and unhappy. Her voice became much softer, but Andrew heard what she was muttering.

She said, "I don't want to ruin someone else's marriage. I don't want to be a homewrecker. That's not good."

Hearing this, Andrew was even more confused. "Why would you think that?"

This time Olivia didn't say anything. She kept her head down and didn't look at Andrew.

"Did someone tell you something? Or did you hear something?" Andrew persisted in asking.

But no matter how he asked, it was useless. Olivia just wouldn't say more.

Andrew couldn't bear to pressure her.

In the end, he could only say helplessly, "Fine, rest first. I'll take you back to your room. As for what we were just talking about, we'll discuss it after you sober up."

Olivia's awareness was slow. When he reached out to hold her hand, she didn't pull away and just let him lead her back to the room.

Andrew helped her lie down and tucked her in. She just stared at him.

"Sleep now. Good night." After Andrew said this softly, he turned off the light, leaving only the small night light by the bed, and turned to leave.

Olivia watched his back. Her heart felt empty, as if once he left, she would never be able to catch that shadow again.

She suddenly felt a bit panicked. Before Andrew could leave, she anxiously got out of bed and grabbed the corner of Andrew's clothes.

The sudden action surprised Andrew.

He instinctively turned to look at her and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

Olivia's tone was a bit anxious. "Are you going back to get engaged?"

A trace of surprise showed in Andrew's eyes.

Before he could speak, Olivia withdrew her hand and then said softly, "If that's the case, then let's not contact each other anymore, okay?"

As if explaining, she murmured, "Bianca is very hard to comfort. She always wants to find her dad. Before, to help her recover, you kept playing that role, but we can't do that anymore.

I finally got her to accept it, but then you appeared again.

If this continues, I don't know what to do anymore. So please, can you do this for me?"

Andrew didn't agree. He couldn't possibly agree.

He caught certain words in what she said, narrowed his eyes slightly, "Engaged? Who told you I'm getting engaged?"

Olivia didn't notice the change in his expression and said honestly, "I heard it. In Harmony City, I met your fiancée. She said it herself."

Andrew frowned and asked, "When?"

Olivia answered every question, "During the meal."

They had only eaten together once in Harmony City.

It was that time, when he was taking her back, that she started acting very strange.

Andrew finally understood what was behind her strange behavior.

No wonder she left without saying goodbye that day. No wonder she deliberately distanced herself.

Andrew felt both annoyed and amused.

She heard all that, so why didn't she come ask him about it? She just knew how to hide.

He looked at Olivia with interest. "Does it bother you that I'm getting engaged to someone else?"

Olivia didn't know how to answer this question. She lowered her head somewhat awkwardly, picking at her fingers. After a while, she said, "I don't really have the right to care."

Andrew studied her and suddenly smiled.

He reached out to lift her chin, his tone serious as he said, "What if you did have the right? Would you try to stop me? I'll give you that right."

Olivia looked at him blankly, as if she didn't quite understand what he meant.

Andrew didn't care whether she was drunk or not right now. He told her in a low voice, "I was planning to ask you tonight anyway—do you want to come with me to Harmony City? If I give you the chance, will you come with me?

Olivia, answer me."

These past days, Andrew hadn't been entirely occupied with the Robinson family's affairs.

The other reason he was busy was because of Olivia.

He had been helping her apply for a position at the research institute in Harmony City.

In the past couple of days, he had even made a trip to the Emerald City military district, using his connections to find someone to recommend her.

Although he hadn't discussed it with her beforehand, Andrew still wanted to try to bring Olivia to his side.

However, he also knew this wasn't a small matter.

Before succeeding, he didn't want to reveal it.

It wasn't until these past two days that he finally got definite news.

Only then did he decide to ask her out, planning to have a good talk with her.

Those things that were originally uncertain—after seeing Olivia's obvious reactions, Andrew had no more doubts and simply asked directly.

Olivia had been revealing her true feelings under the influence of alcohol. Without Andrew's guidance, her mind was actually quite foggy.

Now hearing his words, she had already forgotten what she had just asked him.

She looked at him in confusion and asked, "Go with you? Where?"

Andrew chuckled softly and said, "To Harmony City, to stop me from getting engaged. Will you or won't you?"

The two words "getting engaged" seemed to trigger certain memories in her mind. Without thinking, she shook her head and said, "No, that's not good."

Andrew asked her, "What's not good about it?"

Olivia looked at him very seriously and said, "Ruining someone else's marriage will bring bad karma. I don't want to be that kind of person. I hate homewreckers. I don't want to be a homewrecker."

That serious tone successfully made Andrew laugh, even the corners of his eyes showing some amusement. He said, "What if it's just a fake engagement? Then breaking it up isn't wrong, and you wouldn't be a homewrecker.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no such thing as a homewrecker. What others think has nothing to do with me. I only want what I want.

Of course, if you feel bad about it, then make it up to me with one. What do you think?"

"Make it up? Make what up? How?" Olivia tilted her head, her confused eyes showing some seriousness.

Andrew said gently, "You'll know when you get to Harmony City. Right now, you just need to answer me—will you come with me or not?"

Olivia stared intently at the man in front of her.

This face was extraordinarily handsome, with a gentle smile. The affection in his eyes seemed like it could steal one's soul.

His low, magnetic voice carried an irresistible temptation, making people involuntarily fall under its spell.

Olivia looked at him for a long time. Finally, unable to resist the enchantment, she couldn't help but step forward, reaching out to wrap her arms around his lean waist. She nodded obediently and said, " I'll go with you."
