Chapter 215 Secretly Causing Trouble
At nine in the morning, Olivia received a message from Andrew asking them to come downstairs.
Olivia told Bianca, who immediately grabbed her things enthusiastically and put on her shoes.
"You're all going out, leaving me alone at home would be too boring. I'll go get my nails done." Evelyn had nothing else to do anyway, so she followed them downstairs.
The three of them walked to the residential complex entrance and saw Andrew.
Bianca had really missed him after not seeing him for several days.
As soon as she saw him, she rushed over and hugged him, happily calling out, "Daddy!"
Although Evelyn already knew that Bianca called Andrew daddy, seeing it in person still felt quite striking.
She called him daddy so naturally and warmly, without any awkwardness at all.
Behind Andrew, there was suddenly a violent coughing sound.
The voice sounded somewhat familiar.
Olivia looked over curiously and discovered it was Benjamin.
He was slouched in the passenger seat, looking like he'd just woken up, choking on his own saliva with a flushed face, his expression still recovering.
Olivia greeted him, "Good morning, Mr. White. Why are you here too?"
Benjamin wanted to answer.
But he couldn't get a single word out.
He was obviously shocked by how smoothly Bianca called Andrew daddy.
Seeing it in person was truly different from just hearing about it.
So this was what Andrew was like as a father.
Right now, Bianca was hugging his neck, affectionately nuzzling his face, saying in a sweet childlike voice, "I missed you, Daddy. Did you miss me?"
Andrew held her, looking at Bianca with gentle eyes, and replied, "I did."
Bianca smiled happily, pressing her lips together.
Benjamin was too shocked to speak.
Unbelievable - they looked just like real father and daughter!
This was the first time he'd seen Andrew look so gentle.
Was this really the Andrew he knew?
Benjamin looked completely incredulous and coughed even harder.
David felt somewhat sympathetic and kindly patted his back, thinking Benjamin was pretty pitiful.
Woken up halfway through sleep to be dragged along as a shield, and now choking badly on his own saliva.
Andrew turned back and saw his embarrassing state, looking a bit disgusted. He answered Olivia's question for him, saying, "He's coming with us today."
Olivia was somewhat surprised by this answer.
This was the first time Benjamin was bringing someone along.
But she didn't think much of it, just nodded and thoughtfully handed him a bottle of water.
Seeing this, Evelyn's eyes lit up. "You can bring people? What's the activity today? Can I come too?"
She happened to be bored anyway!
Olivia didn't mind, but she glanced at Andrew to see what he thought.
Andrew nodded and said, "Today we're taking Bianca mountain climbing. The weather isn't so cold anymore, so we want her to experience some outdoor activities. Ms. Thomas, if you want to come, you can join us, but you might need to drive yourself."
They didn't have enough room in their car for everyone.
Hearing she could come along, Evelyn was happy and naturally had no objections.
She immediately said, "No problem, I'll go back and get my car right now, and bring some climbing gear!"
Evelyn left quickly and came back just as fast.
In no time, she came rushing back in her car.
After drinking some water, Benjamin finally recovered, but Andrew unceremoniously kicked him out of the car. "You ride with Ms. Thomas."
Hearing these cold words, Benjamin's heart felt ice cold.
He looked at Andrew sadly and said, "Andrew, you're just kicking me out like that?"
Andrew glanced at him coolly and said, "You're a man - how can you let Ms. Thomas drive alone? Or would you rather switch with David?"
Benjamin was incredulous. "You dragged me out of bed before I was even awake, and now you want me to be the driver?"
Evelyn rolled down her window in the other car and said considerately, "It's okay, I can be your driver."
Looking at Benjamin's half-asleep state, she didn't dare ride in a car he was driving.
She valued her life.
Hearing this, Benjamin got out of the car without any guilt and said bluntly, "Then I'll have to trouble you, Ms. Thomas!"
After speaking, he opened her passenger door and happily thought about catching up on sleep during the drive.
Andrew couldn't bear to watch.
Olivia was amused by them.
She discovered that Benjamin was quite cute around Andrew.
Soon, they all got in their respective cars.
After the car started, Bianca opened her little backpack and began pulling out all kinds of snacks for Andrew. "This is candy from Mr. McCoy, handmade pastries from Yara..."
And there were handmade keychains that Bianca had made herself at home these past few days.
She wanted to give everything to Andrew.
Before long, Andrew's arms were full of gifts.
The man's eyes were gentle, with a smile, "Thank you, Bianca, I really like them."
After hearing this, Bianca was also very happy and continued to take out her picture books from her little backpack to show him the drawings she'd made these past few days.
Andrew held her, commenting and guiding her on what areas needed improvement.
Although Olivia couldn't participate, she quietly watched from the side.
In the other car, Benjamin had planned to sleep, but who would have thought that Evelyn drove so aggressively.
Taking a turn, she suddenly turned the steering wheel all the way, nearly flinging the drowsy Benjamin out of his seat.
It scared him wide awake.
He realized his understanding of her was somewhat wrong.
After another sudden brake, Benjamin couldn't help but open his eyes and complain, "Ms. Thomas, this is a road, not a race track. Can you take it easy? Safety first!"
Evelyn looked at him innocently and said, "I'm already taking it easy. Look for yourself, I'm only going fifty to sixty miles per hour."
Benjamin was incredulous.
Impossible!
At this speed, how was she creating that feeling of being about to fly out?
"Drive some more, let me watch." His drowsiness had completely disappeared now. Benjamin couldn't sleep - he had to see for himself how she was driving!
"Okay." Evelyn didn't mind, calmly agreed, and actually cooperated by driving for him to see.
As a result, the whole way was perfectly steady.
Benjamin was starting to doubt himself. "You're actually driving pretty well."
So what was with that race-car-like driving earlier?
Evelyn asked him innocently, "Mr. White, were you dreaming and got confused?"
With her saying this, Benjamin couldn't help but doubt himself too. "Maybe... that's really possible."
Because there was nothing wrong with Evelyn's driving.
Looking puzzled, he leaned back in his seat, planning to catch up on sleep again.
Half asleep, that feeling of being flung out came again.
This time, Benjamin was sure he hadn't felt wrong.
But he didn't say anything, instead half-closing his eyes to observe.
Then he discovered the driver was messing with him.
The car's speed really wasn't particularly fast, but it averaged between seventy-five to eighty-five miles per hour.
Changing lanes, passing cars, sometimes hitting the brakes, creating a jerky motion.
Benjamin couldn't take it anymore and stared at her, asking, "Are you deliberately trying to keep me from sleeping well?"
Evelyn didn't expect him to be awake.
Caught off guard, her expression froze for a moment. She started to slow down gradually, then looked at him innocently. "Huh, what did you say?"
Benjamin laughed in frustration. "Going to say I was dreaming again? Ms. Thomas, I really didn't expect this from you - is this what you're really like?"
Evelyn had originally wanted to keep up the act, but seeing it wouldn't work, she just gave up and said, "Sorry, I was going to let you sleep, but I found that when there's someone in the car, if it's too quiet, I'm not used to it."
Benjamin found it funny. "So you came up with ways to wake them up?"
Evelyn said, "Not exactly. Mainly I was too bored and wanted to speed, but when I picked up speed, I remembered you were sleeping, so I had to slow down.
Back and forth, I found it was actually pretty fun."
Her expression made it seem like she'd discovered something interesting.
Benjamin gave up - he was completely awake now!
After settling in and holding on tight, he said to Evelyn, "You like speeding? Then go ahead and speed. I'm not sleeping anymore, I'll keep you company and see just how good your driving skills are."
"You sure?" Evelyn looked him over uncertainly.
After all, Benjamin looked refined and gentle, not like someone who enjoyed extreme thrills. What if he got scared out of his wits in her car?
In that case, she really wouldn't know how to explain it to Olivia and Andrew.
Benjamin kept a straight face, looking brave and fearless, saying, "I'm sure! Speed if you want to."
"Alright!" Seeing him say this, Evelyn had no more concerns. "You said it yourself!"
As her words fell, Evelyn floored the gas pedal.
Benjamin hit the seat from the momentum and was immediately startled.
He hadn't expected Evelyn to speed so decisively.
The scenery outside the window flew backward rapidly. The car kept accelerating. Seeing a car appear ahead, Benjamin thought Evelyn would slow down.
But unexpectedly, not only didn't the speed slow down as he expected, Evelyn floored it even more.
Just as they were about to hit the car ahead, Evelyn jerked the steering wheel and passed right by that car.
The gap between the cars was only a few inches, making Benjamin's heart jump into his throat.
About forty minutes later, Olivia's car finally arrived at the foot of the mountain.
When they arrived, they saw Evelyn and Benjamin were already waiting.
Not exactly waiting though.
Benjamin looked pale, standing by the roadside, holding onto a tree and throwing up.
Evelyn stood beside him, holding mineral water, occasionally patting his back, looking somewhat apologetic.
"What happened?" Olivia asked Andrew suspiciously.
Andrew shook his head, picked up Bianca, and walked over to ask what was going on.
As soon as they got close, they heard Evelyn saying to Benjamin rather helplessly, "Mr. White, if you can't handle it, just say so. Why act tough? If I'd known you were this useless, I wouldn't have driven so fast!"
After speaking with a mixture of laughter and tears, she unscrewed the mineral water cap and held it in front of Benjamin. "Drink some more water, it should help you feel better."
