Chapter 161 The Person He Values, Who Dares to Neglect?
She started right away as she said she would. The moment she finished speaking, she pulled out her phone and opened the notes app.
Andrew didn't drag his feet either. After thinking quickly, he began describing various injury cases he'd encountered in the past, going into great detail.
Olivia listened carefully and took notes just as carefully. The expression on her face shifted from initial enthusiasm to seriousness.
Although Andrew was just describing various strange symptoms, it wasn't hard to tell from his brief words how dangerous those situations had been.
Visible injuries were actually the easier ones to deal with.
What was harder were the various strange infections encountered in the primitive forests.
Some came from the environment and temperature, others from dangerous plants, and still others from unknown viruses carried by animals, insects, and so on.
The more Olivia heard, the more alarmed she became.
Especially when Andrew mentioned the terrible state of team members who had died—it made her heart ache.
Perhaps noticing the gravity in her eyes, Andrew asked with concern, "You okay? Am I making this sound too scary?"
Olivia shook her head. "No, I'm just thinking that the information the director provided earlier was way too limited. The injuries and pain the special forces have experienced are far worse than I imagined.
With such inadequate preparation, any medicine developed would probably be very limited in scope... Good thing I asked you more today—it's given me a much clearer understanding.
Looks like I'll have to scrap my previous research plan!"
As she said this, her delicate brows were furrowed.
Their conversation had only lasted about half an hour, but her notes already filled several pages.
This made Olivia realize that her earlier preparation had been far from sufficient.
If only she had more reference cases right now!
She thought for a moment, then suddenly looked at all the special forces members present.
They were all the best people to consult.
If each person could provide just a little information, it would definitely solve her problem.
The only issue was that this would probably take up their training time.
The military district probably wouldn't agree to it.
Perhaps seeing what she was thinking, Andrew chuckled softly and said, "Why go to all that trouble? The medical area at this base has all the past medical records. I can take you to see them."
Olivia froze for a moment, her beautiful eyes sparkling with delight. "Really? Is that possible?"
Andrew's deep eyes fixed on her. "Normally it wouldn't be, but you've helped us out so much this time, I can apply for a special exception. Besides, you're developing these things to serve the military, so naturally the military should cooperate and provide some research materials."
Olivia got a bit excited and grabbed his arm. "That would be amazing! Thank you, Mr. Hamilton!"
Andrew glanced at her gesture, his eyes darkening slightly. He didn't pull away, just replied in a gentle tone, "No need to thank me. It's only right."
With that, he didn't waste any time and waved over to Henry in the distance.
Henry had been observing their interaction from earlier.
The thing about Andrew asking for 'feminine products' late last night—well, he'd only heard about it, hadn't seen it himself, so it hadn't really hit him.
But today, watching the two of them chat so comfortably as if no one else was around, and now seeing her holding his arm, his mind was absolutely blown.
He couldn't help asking David beside him, "In the past, if a girl grabbed Andrew's arm like that, wouldn't she lose her hand?"
David nodded emphatically. "Pretty much!"
Henry's curiosity was piqued. Just as he was about to ask how these two knew each other, he caught sight of Andrew calling him over.
He immediately walked over and asked, "What's up?"
Andrew got straight to the point, explaining the general situation and Olivia's needs.
Then he instructed, "I'll leave the application to you."
After hearing this, Henry had no objections.
Olivia was an excellent doctor, and the higher-ups had already instructed them to give her special care and treatment.
Not to mention, Andrew was clearly protective of her.
Anyone he valued—who in the special forces would dare neglect them?
Henry immediately agreed cheerfully, "Sure, just take her over. I'll fill out the application later. Dr. Garcia, feel free to look through whatever medical records you need."
Olivia had been worried that the application process would be complicated or that she'd be rejected outright.
She never expected it to go so smoothly!
She was thrilled and, for a moment, forgot to let go of Andrew's arm. She thanked him repeatedly, "Thank you so much for being so accommodating, Mr. Phillips."
Henry waved his hand. "No need to thank me. Thank Andrew instead. It's rare for him to speak up for someone—it would be unreasonable not to accommodate that."
That last sentence clearly carried a teasing tone.
Andrew ignored him, just gave him a cool glance, then said to Olivia, "Let's go. I'll take you to the records room."
Olivia was naturally eager to go and immediately agreed.
It was only then that she belatedly realized she was still holding onto his arm.
She panicked a bit and quickly let go, trying to make it look casual.
The movement looked natural enough, but her ears turned red.
Andrew noticed, and his deep eyes grew even darker...
For the entire afternoon that followed, Olivia was buried in the records room.
She had originally planned to spend these two days collecting all the materials.
However, there were just too many treatment cases here.
And a large portion of them, because they were so old, hadn't been entered into the computer system yet.
This meant that even after three days of treatment sessions ended, she still hadn't finished collecting everything.
When Andrew found out, his tone was calm as he said, "Then stay a couple more days. Leave whenever you're done."
Olivia hesitated. "Is that okay? Won't it take up too much of your time?"
"It's fine."
As Andrew spoke, he rolled up his sleeves. "David and I have nothing going on today. We can help you organize the key points—that'll speed things up."
Olivia couldn't have asked for more.
Soon, the three of them got busy again.
It had to be said, with Andrew and David's help, efficiency improved by more than double.
By the next morning, the data collection was down to just the finishing touches.
Olivia was both satisfied and happy.
The original purpose of this trip had been to treat the special forces members, but she never expected to gain so much more!
This trip was totally worth it!
Once she got back to Emerald City, she could immediately start the research and development work.
Filled with joy, she climbed up the wooden ladder to put stacks of files back on the shelves.
Seeing this, Andrew frowned slightly and said sternly, "Come down. Let David and the bodyguards handle putting those away."
Olivia didn't think much of it. "It's fine, this ladder is pretty sturdy. I've been climbing it the past few days with no problem..."
But before she could finish speaking, her foot immediately slipped and missed a step.
Olivia couldn't help but cry out.
No way, right?
Speak of the devil?
Because it happened so suddenly, her body had already lost its balance. Plus, she was in the middle section of the ladder, so at this angle, she'd probably fall pretty hard.
"Watch out!!!"
David instinctively shouted.
The bodyguards nearby were also startled and rushed over to help...
