Chapter 159 Andrew's Double Standards
After thinking it through, she tossed her phone aside and curled up against the headboard—it felt a bit more comfortable that way.
While waiting, she felt both sleepy and achy, her mind in a fog.
She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard footsteps approaching again.
She opened her eyes to see the man entering from outside, bringing a chill with him, carrying a tray in his hands.
On it were a thermos container, a hot water bottle, heat patches, and a black bag.
Olivia's ears instantly felt hot.
He... actually knew what to get!
Andrew seemed to sense her embarrassment and tried to keep his expression calm and composed. "There's porridge in here, and hot water. You should eat something first to settle your stomach, then drink the hot water. You can stick the heat patches on your belly and sleep with the hot water bottle. I heard... this helps make it more comfortable."
Olivia's ears had turned red, looking a bit shy. "Thank you..."
Andrew didn't make a big deal of it. "You go ahead then. I'll head back. Call me if you need anything."
With that, he set the tray on the table, and his tall figure quickly withdrew.
After he left, the warmth in Olivia's face took a long time to fade, though her heart was filled with warmth.
Andrew was truly thoughtful and considerate.
In everything he did, he knew just how far to go, always thinking of everything.
This was the first time anyone had taken care of her like this!
Thanks to Andrew's thorough preparations, that night, after all the discomfort, Olivia wasn't feeling as bad and managed to get a good night's sleep.
When she woke up the next morning, it was already nine o'clock, and she felt much more refreshed.
Andrew heard the news and came to check on her. "Feeling better today?"
After a night had passed, the awkwardness from the previous evening had mostly faded, and Olivia could face him calmly.
"Much better, thank you, Mr. Hamilton."
Andrew smiled gently. "Good to hear. I'll have someone bring you breakfast."
Olivia had no objections and casually asked, "Nothing's gone wrong at the medical area, has it?"
Andrew answered honestly, "No, quite the opposite. Things are going well. The mild cases have recovered, those who were hallucinating are back to normal, and the ones with fevers have turned to low-grade fevers. Two of them have completely recovered."
Olivia wasn't surprised.
She had already expected these results during yesterday's treatment!
While they were talking, David arrived with breakfast.
After thanking him, Olivia dug in.
Later, after finishing her meal, she returned to the medical area for the second round of treatment.
Andrew couldn't help there, so he headed to the training grounds.
Henry was there too, overseeing the training.
When he saw him, his usually stern and serious expression suddenly showed a teasing smile.
"I heard you didn't sleep last night and ran to the medical area in the middle of the night to ask the nurses for stuff?"
Andrew's expression was bland, his tone cold. "Are you that bored?"
Why bother asking about such things?
Henry said, "Not really that bored. It's just that when I went to the cafeteria this morning, everyone was talking about it. I listened for a bit."
Andrew frowned, clearly disliking being the subject of others' gossip.
Henry caught on immediately. "Can't really blame them... You're a legendary figure in the military district. So many people look up to you!
And then suddenly, out of nowhere, you're this good to a woman."
Bringing this up, Henry found it amusing. "Honestly, I've known you for so many years, and this is the first time I've seen you like this.
During missions before, when female special forces on the team got injured, you'd just roughly slap medicine on their wounds. When have you ever been this 'considerate'?"
Andrew gave a cold smile. "It's different. During missions, there's no time for niceties. Dr. Garcia came here because of me. She's working hard and suffering—I can't just ignore that."
His explanation was perfectly reasonable.
Henry just laughed. "I never understood what people meant by double standards before. Now I get it."
Andrew shot him a cold glance, half-smiling. "Looks like you really are quite free. As a special forces captain, slacking off and gossiping here—your skills haven't gotten rusty, have they?"
Henry raised an eyebrow. "What, embarrassed and angry? Whether I've gotten rusty or not, why don't you come test it out and see?"
Andrew narrowed his deep-set eyes. "The shooting range."
Henry's competitive spirit was ignited. He had no objections.
Both were people who acted decisively. In no time, they had changed locations and geared up.
The special forces members at the station heard that the two bosses were going to compete and rushed over to watch.
They all knew Captain Henry's abilities—he was outstanding among the younger generation.
As for Andrew, though he was a psychologist, rumor had it... his abilities were also extremely formidable, even far surpassing Henry's!
But few people had ever witnessed it.
Today, finally having a chance to see it, naturally no one wanted to miss it.
Soon, the area around the shooting range was packed with people.
Normally, discipline here was strict, and such loose behavior would never be allowed.
But Henry didn't stop it today.
After all, this was an excellent learning opportunity.
The man beside him was the most formidable leader in the history of the special forces district.
The special forces team he once led had been unstoppable overseas, becoming the nightmare of many terrorists.
Even just showing a bit of his skill would be enough for others to learn from for ages!
Soon, their competition began...
On Olivia's end, she finished more than an hour later.
The second round of treatment was easier than the first, with fewer patients, so the workload was considerably lighter.
When she came out of the medical area, she was planning to go back and rest, but happened to hear faint sounds of commotion coming from the direction of the training grounds.
She asked the bodyguard waiting there, "Is something happening over there?"
The bodyguard answered, "Mr. Hamilton is competing with Mr. Phillips. Dr. Garcia, would you like to go take a look?"
Olivia looked surprised. "Why would they suddenly start competing?"
The bodyguard couldn't really explain.
Out of curiosity, Olivia changed direction and agreed to go watch.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the shooting range to see the massive crowd.
Andrew was right in the center of the crowd...
The man had changed from his usual refined and elegant attire into a black special forces uniform, wearing black military boots. His tall frame looked incredibly sharp and cool, with a shooting vest on top.
At the moment, he wore protective goggles, holding a gun and aiming at rapidly moving targets ahead.
From her angle, the man's profile was sharp and well-defined, with an intense aura radiating from within, like a bullet about to leave the chamber.
Yet his movements were so composed.
Though it was extremely difficult, he just casually pulled the trigger a few times.
Bang bang bang—
After several consecutive shots, all the bullseyes were hit, without exception!
The scene erupted in enthusiastic applause and cheers.
But Olivia was completely stunned.
The surrounding sounds seemed to fade away in that moment, becoming blurred and unclear, leaving only those intense gunshots echoing continuously in her heart.
