Chapter 144 The Air Is Sweet
Later, after Olivia finished the porridge, she still felt a bit weak.
To prevent her fever from coming back, Andrew told her to keep sleeping and leave the hospital tomorrow morning.
Olivia didn't refuse, but still said, "If you're busy, you can go back first. You don't need to worry about me. I'll sleep, and I'm sure I'll be fine by tomorrow morning."
"How could I possibly leave you here alone?"
Andrew looked down at her and said firmly, "You sleep. I'll make do on the sofa for the night. We'll talk about everything tomorrow morning."
With that, he reached out to tuck in her blanket, then turned and sat down on the sofa.
Olivia watched his tall figure and felt strangely at ease.
How could someone be so thoughtful and considerate?
It was as if with him around, there was nothing to worry about.
Carrying this full sense of security, Olivia fell back asleep.
During the night, she occasionally felt someone touching her forehead.
But she slept deeply and never fully woke up.
A good night's sleep.
The next morning when she got up, her fever was basically gone.
Andrew had someone prepare clean clothes for her. "Wash up, come out for breakfast, then we'll check you out and take you back to the hotel."
Olivia nodded and did as told.
When she came out after changing, she looked a bit surprised.
These clothes... the sizes were just too perfect!
But if she remembered correctly, she hadn't told him, right?
"What's wrong, don't they fit?"
Andrew was already waiting for her at the breakfast table. Seeing her expression, he couldn't help but look her over.
The dress and jacket both fit perfectly.
He commented, "They suit you well. Looks like I estimated the sizes correctly?"
Olivia's ears felt a bit hot.
He could estimate that?
Just by looking?
That was pretty impressive...
"Thank you."
Olivia sat down across from him and said quietly, "How much were they? I'll transfer you the money."
Andrew handed her a spoon, looking somewhat amused. "You came to the hospital last night to bring me the bracelet. If you think about it, I'm half responsible. Do you really need to be so particular about this with me?
No need to transfer anything. It's a gift!"
Olivia was about to say something, but thinking it over, he definitely wouldn't accept it anyway, so she decided not to be polite about it.
After breakfast, David had already handled the discharge procedures.
Then he took Olivia back to the hotel.
When they arrived, Andrew asked her, "How many days will you be staying in Harmony City this time?"
Olivia answered honestly, "Today I'll sign a contract with two directors, and after that, I'll leave in the afternoon."
Andrew nodded slightly. "It's rare for you to visit. I should really show you some hospitality and treat you to a meal, but it seems there won't be a chance this time."
Olivia smiled lightly. "It's okay, you've already taken care of me all night, that's more than enough... So if there's nothing else, I'll head up now?"
Andrew had no objection, but before she got out of the car, he handed her a bag.
Olivia glanced inside the bag. "This is...?"
"New Year's gifts for you and Bianca."
Andrew answered smoothly.
Olivia blinked.
If she wasn't mistaken, inside the bag was a set of paintbrushes, plus a jar of candy and chocolates?
She couldn't help asking, "Which one... is for me?"
Andrew's eyes held a hint of amusement as he said, "The paintbrushes are for Bianca, the candy is for you."
Olivia, "???"
Isn't that backwards?
Andrew saw her confused expression, a smile flashing in his eyes, and said, "Bianca doesn't have low blood sugar, so she shouldn't need this. Plus she's still young, eating too much wouldn't be good for her teeth."
Olivia's cheeks flushed red as she finally understood what was going on.
Although... her low blood sugar was a fact.
But this feeling of being treated like a child was somehow embarrassing.
Olivia quickly opened the door and got out, saying goodbye. "Drive safely on your way back, Mr. Hamilton. If there's nothing else, I'll head up now. See you after the New Year."
With that, she waved and turned to enter the hotel.
Andrew watched her leave, unable to hide the pleased expression on his face.
David, who was driving in the front seat, "..."
Why does the air feel a bit sweet?
Must be the effect of that bag of candy!!!
...
When Olivia escaped back to her room, she happened to run into Daniel coming to knock on her door.
Seeing that she was actually coming back from outside, Daniel was very surprised. "Why are you up so early? And carrying all those bags? Are you feeling better?"
Last night, after he came back from the event, he had come to check on her.
But after knocking for a long time with no one answering, he figured she was sleeping deeply and didn't want to disturb her further.
Getting up early this morning to find her, he didn't expect she'd be outside.
Olivia didn't say much about what happened last night.
First, she didn't want Daniel to worry, and second, since she was fine now, there was really no need to bring it up.
She nodded. "I'm much better now. I just need to take medicine slowly and I'll be fine. This is a New Year's gift I got for Bianca."
Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. "Good that you're okay. Get ready, we'll go sign the contract later. I booked afternoon tickets back to Emerald City. Once you're home, take your annual leave.
Rest well during this time and take care of yourself. Don't overwork anymore."
"Okay."
Olivia had no objection. After putting her things away in her room, she went out with Daniel.
The Hamilton Mansion.
Andrew had just returned from outside when he ran into Finnegan, who was playing with his birds in the courtyard.
Finnegan was wearing white casual clothes, looking like he'd just finished exercising, full of energy and vitality.
"Grandpa."
Andrew walked over and greeted him casually.
Finnegan heard him and glanced over, asking casually, "Out all night. Where were you last night?"
Andrew hadn't slept well at the hospital last night. His eyes showed some fatigue, and his tone was a bit lazy as he said, "Attending the party, wasn't that what you told me to do?"
"Don't give me that."
Finnegan had just finished feeding worms to the birds and turned to glare at him. "You left halfway through last night, don't think I don't know!"
Andrew raised an eyebrow, half-jokingly saying, "Ran off with a girl."
Finnegan immediately bristled. "If you could really run off with a girl, I wouldn't have to go through all this trouble arranging for you to attend these kinds of events! All the socialites and young ladies invited last night were in that ballroom!"
Andrew took off his suit jacket, his tone casual. "I told you but you don't believe me. There's nothing I can do. I'm going to wash up first."
"Wait."
Finnegan stopped him, his expression turning stern. "You should know my intentions in arranging for you to attend that party, right? After the New Year, stay in Harmony City properly. Stop going to Emerald City!"
Andrew's expression remained calm. "I have unfinished work."
The old man insisted, "Your work doesn't last very long each time. There's no need to live in Emerald City long-term. Your home is in Harmony City!"
With that, he gestured around them. "Look at this huge house, just me, an old man, with emptiness everywhere. Can you bear it?"
Andrew smiled slightly. "What? Uncle's family, plus the butler, servants, and bodyguards—they're not people?"
