Chapter 103 Crushed Sophia Easily
That evening, dinner was cut short because of the unexpected incident.
Olivia didn't stick around for long after that and soon said her goodbyes.
Half a month later, the upgraded version of the 'Miracle' drug was successfully launched.
However, Olivia skipped the launch event.
After all, it was an upgrade she had developed years ago, and she didn't see the point in attending.
Daniel didn't push her to go either. After the event, he brought her some good news. "The system you developed has been successfully integrated into medical equipment. I had our private hospital run the clinical trials first.
The hospital director and the team of experts have already recognized its value and are spreading the word to their peers.
Lately, other hospitals have started using the system too. Just like you said, it's been a huge hit. It's unmatched in the market, and several hospitals have already completed some really complex surgeries with its help.
Now, its reputation is spreading like wildfire, and orders are pouring in."
Olivia was stunned. "This... so soon?"
She had thought it would take at least several months to roll out the system.
But it had only been half a month.
She knew Daniel had put in a lot of effort as well.
Still, the speed was beyond her expectations!
Daniel stayed calm. "Did you think I was joking when I said it would be quick? Do you even know who I am?"
He had been running the Wilson Group for years, handling even more challenging tasks.
With such a successful product, if he couldn't get it out there, he wouldn't be much of a CEO of the Wilson Group, would he?
Olivia didn't hold back her praise. "Mr. Wilson, you're amazing. Our company wouldn't be the same without you."
Daniel raised his chin with a hint of pride. "This is just the beginning. Now that orders are pouring in, our own medical equipment production schedule is booked out for the next six months, and it's still increasing..."
He suddenly became serious. "Olivia, your hard work has paid off!"
Hearing this, Olivia felt a mix of emotions.
When she was developing the system, she had imagined Michael's surprise and recognition when he saw the final product.
But before that could happen, he had hastily replaced her with Sophia.
In a way, it was for the best.
She had achieved success on her own!
She hadn't become someone else's stepping stone!
Meanwhile, at the Johnson Group, in Sophia's office.
Nolan was reporting the situation. "Ms. Brown, an overseas company recently developed an advanced system, causing major hospitals and medical institutions to place orders with them, severely threatening our business!"
Sophia looked at the data Nolan handed her, disbelief written all over her face. "This... how is this possible?"
Previously, the Johnson Group's orders had increased by twenty percent, which had already pleased her immensely.
But now, an unknown small company had developed a system estimated to be worth billions of dollars.
And the value was still rising.
Compared to that, her achievements seemed like a joke.
This was insane!
"Isn't this backed by some major overseas corporation?" Sophia couldn't believe it. She carefully reviewed the company's information.
The company was called Nexora Tech, established just over a month ago, under the name of a small overseas firm called the Novalane Group.
Both were small companies, unrelated to any large enterprises.
Nolan confirmed, "We checked, and it's not. I even asked our R&D team, and they said the system is extremely complex, beyond our current capabilities."
"This is absolutely impossible!" Sophia still couldn't believe the company had no backing.
Usually, such a rapid rise had someone powerful behind it.
She couldn't accept being outdone! "Find out! I want to know who owns this company!"
She ordered Nolan.
Nolan, knowing she wouldn't give up, didn't dare delay, "Understood, I'll do my best."
After Nolan left, Sophia felt a sense of unease.
Previously, the system upgrade by the R&D department was based on the original system developed by Olivia, which was already cutting-edge technology.
She had barely managed to upgrade part of it using foreign knowledge, but couldn't make further breakthroughs.
But now, this emerging company had done it.
She feared that the twenty percent increase in orders would vanish.
And as fate would have it, her fears were coming true.
Not long after, the business manager called, his tone urgent. "Ms. Brown, we have a problem. Our partners and medical institutions are calling to cancel orders, saying our AI system is outdated and can't compete with Nexora Tech's. They're demanding refunds."
Sophia's face darkened. "Are you kidding me? Do they think the Johnson Group is a joke? Orders aren't something they can just cancel on a whim.
Ignore them. According to the contract, they're breaching the agreement first. If they insist on canceling, they'll have to pay a fifty percent penalty fee!"
The business manager sounded bitter. "I've already warned them, but they're willing to pay the penalty to cancel. Also, there's another issue with recent orders.
We promoted our products as having the most advanced system. If they turn this against us, we'll have no defense."
Sophia's heart sank further, resentment towards the new company growing. "Who the hell owns that damn company? Why did they have to show up now, just to mess with me?"
The business manager had no idea and said honestly, "What should we do now? Clients are eager to place orders with Nexora Tech..."
Sophia's face paled, and she began to panic.
Things seemed to be spiraling out of her control!
She had worked hard to establish herself as capable in Michael's eyes. Was it all going to be destroyed now?
At the top floor CEO's office, Robert had also received the news and was reporting to Michael. "Currently, customers canceling orders is bad news for us. The initial R&D costs and the impact on our reputation could cause significant losses for the Johnson Group."
Michael frowned deeply, looking at the information on Nexora Tech.
Robert continued with the details. "This company is remarkable. In just over a month, they've attracted numerous venture capital firms with just one system.
Now, many industry experts are eyeing this company, eager to invest with their money!
Their valuation has already surpassed two billion dollars, and it's still climbing!"
