Chapter 99 This is the Revenge for Michael
Olivia froze, instinctively pulling her hand back.
Even though she had used ice to try and reduce the swelling in the private room, it hadn't completely erased the marks Michael had left.
When she got back, she hadn't felt any pain and didn't pay much attention to it. She hadn't expected Evelyn to notice so quickly.
She was about to signal Evelyn, but Victoria had already heard and was immediately concerned.
"What marks?"
"Who hit you? Let me see..."
Realizing she couldn't avoid it, Olivia reluctantly explained, "No one hit me. It's just... from being pulled around a bit."
As she spoke, Victoria had already pulled up her sleeve.
Seeing the glaring red marks around her wrist, Victoria was horrified. "This... who did this?"
Olivia hesitated, unsure if she should answer, but Bianca, in her sweet childlike voice, chimed in, "Daddy... pulled Mommy's hand..."
"What?" Victoria frowned, anger rising. "Why would he lay a hand on you?"
Evelyn was also puzzled. "Weren't you taking Bianca to see Mr. Hamilton? How did you run into him? Did he come downstairs to block you again?"
Olivia didn't really want to talk about him.
But if she didn't explain tonight, the three in front of her probably wouldn't sleep.
So, she had Yara take Bianca for a bath and then briefly recounted the events.
Evelyn was furious after hearing it. "How dare Michael accuse you of cheating? He's the one who cheated and found a mistress, and now he has the nerve to accuse you? When you were treating his leg, why didn't you treat his brain too? The man's got a serious problem!"
Vaughn and Victoria were equally angry and heartbroken.
They had raised Olivia with such care, never once speaking harshly to her.
Now, married, she was not only subjected to emotional abuse, neglect, and bullying, but also slandered and beaten by Michael.
Vaughn's usually mild temper was pushed to the brink. "This Michael is too much!"
He stood up abruptly, anger driving him towards the door.
Olivia was startled and quickly grabbed her father. "Dad, where are you going?"
"I'm going to find Michael!"
Vaughn, full of anger, tried to pull away from her. "Olivia, don't be afraid. I may not be powerful, but I can protect you. He won't get away with bullying you. I'll get justice for you."
Olivia couldn't let him go.
She understood Vaughn and Victoria's pain but also knew Michael's ruthlessness.
Going there would only bring more humiliation.
Vaughn and Victoria had dedicated their lives to education and were highly respected. How could she let them suffer such indignity?
"Dad, it's not worth it to argue with him. Even though Michael hurt me today, if we look on the bright side, these marks can be evidence for the divorce. That's our ultimate goal, right? There's no need to start a conflict!"
As she spoke, she gave Evelyn a look, asking for help.
Evelyn, though equally furious and wanting to punch Michael, remained rational.
She quickly helped to persuade, "Olivia's right. The divorce is already difficult. If we go and confront him, it might backfire and make things harder for Olivia. We can't act impulsively now!"
Vaughn, still angry, was eventually convinced.
He knew that Olivia's divorce was already a tough battle and didn't want to add to her burden.
Understanding this didn't make the pain in his heart any easier to bear.
That night, Vaughn and Victoria were sleepless until dawn.
The next morning, Olivia noticed Vaughn and Victoria looking exhausted at the breakfast table, which troubled her deeply. After breakfast, she quickly sent Bianca and Lightning, to cheer them up.
Bianca, still buzzing from Andrew's guidance the previous day, first pulled Vaughn and Victoria to watch an underwater cartoon, then had them draw various fish and sea creatures.
Lightning, ever the clever dog, held a pen in its mouth, trying to draw on the paper.
Though it didn't produce much, it lifted Vaughn and Victoria's spirits.
Vaughn even tried teaching Lightning to draw properly.
Olivia thought that if this continued, their dog would soon become human.
She recorded a short video and sent it to David, joking: [Will Lightning always be a dog?]
David laughed when he got the message and showed it to Andrew.
Andrew's eyes twinkled with amusement as he replied: [Not necessarily!]
Olivia couldn't tell if it was David or Andrew who replied.
Andrew, usually so noble and aloof, didn't seem like someone who would joke.
But seeing Vaughn and Victoria's mood improve, she felt she had achieved her goal.
Just then, Daniel called. "The AI medical device company is set up. Want to come check it out?"
Olivia was surprised.
It hadn't been long since they discussed it, and Daniel's efficiency was impressive!
She didn't hesitate and rushed over.
When she arrived, Daniel was already waiting.
He was in his usual black suit, but with his shirt collar unbuttoned, giving off a mix of elegance and rebellious charm.
He led Olivia on a tour, explaining, "As you requested, the company isn't listed under the Wilson Group. We used an overseas branch, so no one can trace it back to us. The staff is all hired, including two top computer experts from the Wilson Group whom I secretly transferred. We also recruited several top talents from prestigious universities, ready to make a mark."
Olivia was surprised. "Isn't it risky to transfer people from the Wilson Group?"
Daniel replied, "It's fine because I believe in this company's potential and your vision. AI development is a frontier many top companies aim to break into. If we can develop advanced systems for medical devices, we'll be way ahead in the market!"
Olivia was momentarily speechless.
Daniel had always been like this.
He had unwavering trust in her abilities.
Whether it was pharmaceutical research or AI medical systems, he supported her without hesitation.
Unlike Michael, who only belittled her.
Feeling a mix of emotions, Olivia quickly suppressed them and smiled at Daniel. "To not disappoint your trust, I have a surprise for you…"
She opened her laptop and started typing.
Soon, lines of code flashed across the screen.
"What's this?" Daniel asked, curious.
Olivia explained, "This is a new system I developed while still at the Johnson Group. It was challenging, and the technology wasn't quite there, so I couldn't crack it then. After months of work, I finally succeeded. I intended to use it at the Johnson Group, but Michael, because of Sophia, kicked me out before I could. Now, with our new company, I think it's the perfect start! This system is the most advanced and unique in the market. I've verified it through extensive algorithms and tests. It's ready for a medical device application!"
Daniel was genuinely thrilled.
He didn't understand system development but trusted Olivia's capabilities.
'Unique' meant it was groundbreaking!
If it was as Olivia said, Michael had truly lost out big time!
