Chapter 64 Mr. Hamilton's Gift
Olivia turned her head at the sound and saw two familiar figures at the entrance of the banquet hall.
One was Joseph.
He was dressed in a suit today, no longer confined to a wheelchair, but walking with the aid of a cane.
Although his steps were slow, his posture remained upright and commanding!
Beside him was Beatrix, wearing a deep blue starry evening gown, her shoulder-length hair curled elegantly yet chic.
The guests naturally gasped in surprise when the two appeared.
"Is that Ms. Miller? She actually came? And is that Mr. Miller next to her? The Johnson family really pulled some strings to get such big names here!"
"That's Mr. Miller! But he might not be here for the Johnson family. At the last party, he showed up in a wheelchair just to support Mrs. Olivia Johnson."
"Really? Mrs. Olivia Johnson actually knows the Miller family?"
"Not just knows them—Mr. Miller admires her greatly. The project the Miller family had ended up in Mrs. Olivia Johnson's hands..."
The guests couldn't help but be astonished by this scene.
Some of them could hardly believe it.
It made sense for a top-tier family like the Johnsons to have connections with the Miller family.
But Olivia, who was said to be not very capable, how could she have ties with a family like the Millers, who had power in the military, political, and business spheres.
Yet, reality was indeed hard to believe.
Joseph and Beatrix headed straight for Olivia after entering.
Joseph's usually stern face softened into a warm smile. "Hey, Ella, we meet again!"
Beatrix also greeted with a smile, "Dr. Garcia, we heard it's your daughter's birthday today. Hope you don't mind us dropping by uninvited?"
Olivia was genuinely surprised to see Joseph and Beatrix.
She quickly smiled and stepped forward, "Of course not, Mr. Miller and Ms. Miller. It's an honor for my daughter to have you here!"
She then turned to Bianca in her arms and said, "Sweetie, say hello. This is Mr. Miller, and this is Ms. Miller ."
Bianca, still excited from receiving Daniel's gift, wasn't shy in front of strangers. She immediately greeted them, "Hello, Mr. Miller. Hello, Ms. Miller..."
"Bianca is so beautiful, just like her mother. Beatrix, bring the gifts we prepared for her," Joseph said, his face lighting up with joy.
Beatrix, who also liked Bianca, called over two bodyguards at the door.
Each bodyguard carried a rustic box.
Beatrix opened one of the boxes first and said to Olivia, "This night pearl is a gift from my grandpa, symbolizing that your daughter is the most precious 'pearl in your palm.'"
"And this jade pendant is from me, wishing your daughter peace, health, and happiness."
Olivia was taken aback.
These gifts were incredibly valuable!
The night pearl was lustrous and radiant, clearly no ordinary item.
The jade pendant was also top-quality jade, smooth and vibrant, worth a fortune.
"Mr. Miller, Ms. Miller, these gifts are too precious. I can't accept them." Olivia's first reaction was to refuse.
Joseph, however, was unfazed. "Why can't you? Compared to what you've done for me, this is nothing. Or are you treating us as outsiders?"
"Of course not."
Though she had only met Joseph a few times, he had introduced her to the military, helped her connect with Andrew, and supported her on several occasions.
She had long remembered these favors.
"If not, then accept them. This is a token from my grandpa and me for Bianca." Beatrix smiled as she closed the box and gently pinched Bianca's cheek. "She's so adorable. One look and I like her!"
Seeing no way to refuse, Olivia hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Then on behalf of Bianca, thank you, Mr. Miller and Ms. Miller. If you ever need my help, just let me know."
As they chatted warmly, the guests were all stunned.
Olivia was truly close with the Miller family, and they even gave such expensive gifts.
The night pearl and the jade pendant... so extravagant!
The Johnson family members were equally shocked.
"When did Olivia get such powerful backing?"
It was the Miller family!
Although their wealth might not surpass the Johnson family, they were a prestigious family, not easily associated with.
Hayden and Amelia's faces also looked grim.
They had heard about Olivia's connection with the Miller family but hadn't taken it seriously without seeing it for themselves.
But tonight, witnessing it firsthand was a shock.
As the head of the Johnson family, Hayden hesitated for a few seconds before stepping forward to greet them. "Mr. Miller, we didn't expect you to attend our family banquet tonight. It's an honor. We must host you properly."
Amelia echoed, "Yes, Mr. Miller, your presence graces our banquet hall. Please join us for a few drinks later."
Joseph, who had been happily playing with Bianca, immediately withdrew his smile.
His authoritative gaze fell on Hayden and Amelia, exuding an inexplicable coldness. "No need. We have other matters to attend to and will leave soon. We came specifically to bring a gift for Bianca, and now that it's delivered, we won't stay longer."
His refusal was blunt, giving Hayden and Amelia no face at all.
Beatrix didn't even spare them a glance.
Hayden and Amelia felt awkward.
Olivia stepped forward and said, "Mr. Miller, Ms. Miller, this isn't my event tonight. Next time, I'll treat you both to a proper meal."
"Sure!" Joseph's face lit up again, demonstrating to everyone what it meant to switch faces and show favoritism.
After a few more pleasantries, Joseph and Beatrix took their leave.
Bianca, happy with her gifts, clung to the boxes, unwilling to let go.
Olivia smiled at the sight, ready to leave herself, when someone else arrived at the door.
"It's my teacher." Bianca was the first to notice the newcomer.
Olivia looked up and saw that it was indeed Benjamin.
Benjamin, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, looked not overly formal but still exuded a refined and noble aura that fit the scene perfectly.
He walked in with a sizable gift box, smiling. "Bianca, happy birthday! I brought you another gift!"
Bianca's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she looked at the gift box.
Olivia was surprised. "Mr. White, didn't you already give Bianca a gift at school today? This is too much!"
Benjamin laughed as he placed the gift on the ground. "This time, it's not from me. I'm just delivering it on behalf of someone else."
Olivia was momentarily stunned but quickly understood.
The only person who could ask Benjamin to deliver a gift was... Andrew!
"He..." Olivia wanted to ask something.
But Benjamin raised a finger to his lips, signaling her not to ask.
He then said, "Bianca will definitely love this gift."
Olivia couldn't help but be curious.
Anything from Andrew was bound to be special.
The previous drawings and the harmonica had already brought significant changes to Bianca.
What would it be this time?
Bianca was also full of anticipation.
Seeing their identical expressions, Benjamin chuckled, squatted down, and opened the gift box.
Inside was a small iron cage, housing a furry creature that looked very familiar!
"It's Lightning." Bianca recognized it immediately and was thrilled. She quickly handed her other gifts to Evelyn and struggled to get down from Olivia's arms.
Olivia quickly set Bianca down.
Bianca ran over and opened the cage.
The little Lightning, initially wary in the unfamiliar environment, looked fierce like a little wolf.
But upon seeing Bianca, it immediately relaxed, whimpered, and ran towards her on its short legs.
Bianca reached out and hugged Lightning tightly.
Lightning licked her enthusiastically, clearly very happy.
Olivia was stunned!
This was a military dog!
Adopting one required meeting strict conditions and qualifications.
One needed enough experience, financial stability, a suitable environment, and even a good political background.
Ordinary people had no chance of adopting a military dog.
Let alone one like Lightning, clearly trained for future service!
But now, Andrew had given this little military dog to Bianca!
Amelia, seeing this, sneered, "It's just a dog. What's the big deal? Olivia, look at you, raising Bianca to be so easily impressed!"
Olivia's eyes darkened, about to speak.
But Benjamin spoke first, "This is the most precious breed of military dog, usually not available for adoption. It's only because of Bianca and Ms. Garcia's connection that an exception was made... At least, you don't qualify!"
Amelia was shocked.
The most precious military dog?
Everyone else was equally stunned.
A military dog as a gift?
Who could be so generous?
Which high-ranking officer from the military?
What kind of background did this Johnson family daughter-in-law have?
