Chapter 379 Still Haven't Learned Enough Lessons
Olivia didn't care about anything else. She hurried downstairs and ran to the car.
Andrew was just opening the car door.
As soon as Olivia got in, she immediately asked, "Why haven't you left yet? Did you finish work and come back?"
Andrew shook his head and said, "I never left."
Olivia asked in surprise, "Why not?"
Andrew said, "I was worried. Tonight, I could tell from your parents' expressions that something was off. I figured they wanted to talk to you about us, and they're not very optimistic about our relationship."
Olivia was a bit speechless.
He could tell all that?
But thinking about it, with Andrew's profession, he could definitely see through people's thoughts at a glance.
Olivia hesitated, not knowing how to tell him.
Andrew took the initiative to ask her, "What did they say to you?"
Olivia was silent for two seconds before saying, "They were indeed quite surprised about our relationship, but they're not dissatisfied with you. They just think you're too good, which makes it seem a bit unreal."
Hearing this, Andrew's lips curved slightly. He raised his hand to brush her cheek and asked gently, "What about you? What did you say?"
Olivia said, "Although they're worried, I clearly expressed my own thoughts. They respect me, but they made one request."
"Hmm? What request?" Andrew looked at her curiously.
Olivia told him honestly, "They said that in the future, they need to make the decision about my marriage, and I agreed!"
Andrew just raised an eyebrow and said, "So that means to marry you, I still have to pass their test?"
Olivia nodded and said hesitantly, "I'm sorry, I couldn't refuse them. They're doing this because they care about me."
Andrew sighed, "What are you apologizing for? I'm not blaming you. I understand their concerns and thoughts. I know they're afraid you'll repeat past mistakes. I also understand they're worried my family won't treat you well, and that you'll suffer if you're with me."
He was right about everything.
Olivia instinctively looked at him, "You're not angry?"
Andrew shook his head, looking at her helplessly, "Silly girl, what's there to be angry about? They're afraid you'll get hurt because they love you. Having parents like this, I'm happy for you. Besides, their worries aren't unreasonable. My grandfather still hasn't given his approval. If this issue isn't resolved, in the future, being with me will indeed make you suffer."
At this point, he held Olivia and comforted her, "But don't worry, I'll resolve this soon."
Olivia certainly believed him.
But she was also very curious.
She looked up at Andrew and asked, "How do you plan to resolve it?"
Olivia wasn't stupid, and she'd been married before.
When it came to marriage, if parents objected, even couples who eventually got together would often face conflicts afterward.
Unless they could find a solution that worked for everyone.
His grandfather cared about her past.
But her past couldn't be erased by any means.
That marriage, and Bianca, would always exist.
Could Finnegan really come to terms with it?
Andrew's eyes, touched by the soft light, blinked gently. His expression was relaxed as he said, "I won't say for now, but I'll make him willingly accept it. Trust me, okay?"
Olivia was skeptical and couldn't figure out what method Andrew could use.
But the man's tone was so certain, and his confident expression was somehow reassuring.
Olivia chose to continue trusting him.
She nodded and said, "Okay, I'll leave it to you then. I trust you!"
This trust made Andrew very satisfied.
He pinched Olivia's cheek, then lifted her chin and placed a light kiss on her lips. "Alright, it's getting late. You should go back and rest. Since you don't have to go to the research institute these days, spend some good time with your parents. Contact me anytime if you need anything."
"Okay!" After talking with him, Olivia's mood improved.
After getting out of the car, she said to the man through the window, "Drive safely, and remember to send me a message when you get there."
"Mm." Andrew nodded.
Then he watched Olivia go upstairs.
However, that very night, news about Olivia at the research institute spread everywhere.
People were saying that the woman Andrew had taken a liking to was all show and no substance.
She got into the research institute through Andrew's connections, made mistakes there, and refused to admit it.
She even tried to blame her colleagues for her suspension.
Some wealthy heiresses in their circle all felt Andrew deserved better.
Aurelia originally couldn't find a way to deal with Olivia.
Now hearing the rumors in their circle, she was almost ecstatic.
She immediately sent a message to Rachel, asking: [Where did the news about Olivia come from?]
Normally, the research institute kept things very confidential, and ordinary people had no way of finding out such information.
Rachel had always looked down on Olivia and had already investigated thoroughly. She quickly replied: [It came from Charlotte's side. She has a relative at the research institute. The information is absolutely true!]
Aurelia immediately smiled.
Whether this was true or not, since Olivia had been suspended, she wasn't innocent!
Someone with questionable professional ethics who made mistakes but refused to admit them—what right did she have to stand beside Andrew?
A gleam of delight flashed in Aurelia's eyes.
She immediately instructed Rachel: [Do me a favor and spread this news around, preferably so it reaches Finnegan.]
Rachel immediately understood what she meant and said right away: [No problem, leave it to me!]
Then she sneered and said: [That woman really can't make the cut. She actually thought she could compete with you for a man—totally overestimating herself!]
After cursing Olivia, she didn't forget to flatter Aurelia, saying: [Aurelia, if those two break up and you get a chance to be with Mr. Hamilton, you must remember me!]
Aurelia smiled happily and said: [Don't worry, I won't let you down!]
After putting down her phone, Aurelia, who had been gloomy for several days, finally looked refreshed.
Charlotte's move allowed her to avoid taking action herself while still being able to fan the flames from behind.
It seemed Charlotte also hated Olivia extremely!
Aurelia's lips curved into a smile, her eyes full of calculation.
The enemy of her enemy was her friend.
Charlotte had already done so much—such an ally was worth cultivating!
Perhaps Aurelia could make her into a pawn!
Also, Michael, and that Sophia who came from Emerald City—all these people could be used to create trouble!
She didn't believe that with attacks from multiple angles, Olivia and Andrew's relationship could remain unaffected!
Thinking of this, Aurelia laughed out loud with delight!
Olivia had no idea about any of this.
Since her parents rarely came to Harmony City and she happened to have free time, the next morning after breakfast, she first took them to visit Rodolfo.
At noon, they all had lunch together, and in the afternoon, she took them out to tour the sights of Harmony City.
So Olivia completely missed the online rumors.
On Andrew's side, as soon as he stepped into the company, he heard about those rumors.
People outside were mocking Olivia, saying she not only degraded herself but also embarrassed Andrew.
The more Andrew had protected her before, the louder the mocking voices were now.
"They're saying that you've always had a stellar reputation in Harmony City, spotless, never had such a stain. But now, because of one woman, you've lost face."
David continued his report, "Right now, everyone in Harmony City's social circles is saying that Dr. Garcia isn't worthy of you. They're also saying the reason you don't bring her to public events is that Dr. Garcia isn't presentable."
Andrew's face was cold, and the air around him seemed to freeze.
He had thought that after being taught a lesson, Charlotte would know to behave.
Apparently, she hadn't suffered enough!
He instructed David in a cold voice, "Go ask the Ross family if they know how to discipline their daughter. If they don't, I'll personally help them with it!"
When the head of the Ross family received this message, he was already furious.
Although they hadn't shown much after the Morgan family broke off the engagement, they still harbored great resentment—they just didn't dare express it.
Now, with David being so blunt, he didn't dare offend him, but he also wasn't willing to lower his proud head.
He said dismissively, "David, you're making too much of this. My daughter just complained a bit carelessly, and someone overheard and spread it everywhere. We can't control other people's mouths."
David had seen all kinds of people and could easily see through the other party's attitude.
But he didn't remind him or get angry. In his mind, he started a countdown to the Ross family's downfall.
Andrew was giving the Ross family a chance out of respect for their status as an established family, letting them step forward to settle this matter.
But they weren't buying it.
Then the Ross family was really done for!
David regretfully reported the other party's attitude to Andrew.
Andrew didn't get angry either. He just looked up at David coolly and said, "You know what to do, right?"
"Understood!" Of course David knew.
This was exactly the kind of thing he was best at!
Evelyn, also in Harmony City, naturally heard these rumors at the first opportunity and exploded again without a doubt.
Were these people in Harmony City unable to survive if they didn't spread rumors about Olivia for a day?
Beyond her anger, Evelyn was also worried about Olivia.
Why would there suddenly be problems at the research institute?
The more she thought about it, the more worried she became. Unable to sit still for another moment, she hurried to find Olivia.
When she arrived, she happened to run into Daniel.
Daniel had also come because of this matter.
However, neither of them knew that Olivia's parents were there too.
So when they pushed open the door and saw them, they both froze, unable to react for a long time.
The questions they wanted to ask Olivia were completely forgotten.
