Chapter 274 He Wants to Get a Little Closer
Olivia opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.
Should she ask him if the engagement was real?
If it was real, should they stop seeing each other?
But what right did she have to ask such questions?
If she talked about liking him, right now, it was just her own wishful thinking.
If he didn't like her at all, speaking up rashly would mean they couldn't even be friends anymore.
That wasn't what Olivia wanted at all.
She had too many concerns in her heart. In the end, she could only push down all her emotions.
After two seconds of silence, she finally said, "No, I just heard from Mr. White that you're very busy in Harmony City. You've been dealing with some troublesome things recently and probably can't spare time for other matters, so I didn't want to bother you or distract you."
She didn't realize that her insincerity was written all over her face.
Andrew stared at her for several seconds before calling her out. "Olivia, do you know you're really bad at lying? I'm sure that's not the real reason."
Olivia felt a bit guilty and didn't dare meet his eyes.
She had forgotten that this man had always been sharp and knew how to read people's hearts.
Her little flaws had nowhere to hide in front of him.
Regret was useless now. Andrew moved closer to her again. Olivia could even clearly smell the cool scent on the man's body.
He said in a low voice, "Olivia, if there's something, you can tell me."
He wanted her to trust him.
But Olivia was too timid.
She didn't dare.
She was afraid that if this continued, he would really see through all her thoughts. She could only force a smile and say, "I just don't know what you're busy with, and I don't know what to talk to you about.
I know about your work in Emerald City.
I also understand what you're busy with at the military district.
But in Harmony City, I know nothing. Whether things are going well or not, I'm not clear. I just thought, what if I said something wrong and touched on something that upset you? That wouldn't be good."
Hearing this, Andrew paused and seemed to believe her somewhat.
His information in Harmony City was indeed separate from here.
He hadn't told her what had happened to him, so it was natural for her to have concerns.
Andrew said seriously, "If you want to know, I can tell you everything. There's nothing I can't say."
When these words came from his mouth, Olivia felt something knock at her heart.
Just as she was about to carefully identify this feeling, suddenly there was a collision sound from inside the car.
The next second, Olivia saw the car door on the other side being pushed open forcefully.
Evelyn's figure rushed out from there and crouched by the roadside, vomiting violently.
David also got out in a fluster, looking back nervously at Andrew, afraid he had ruined Andrew's business. He quickly explained, "Mr. Hamilton, Ms. Thomas said she needed to throw up. I had no choice. I couldn't let her vomit in the car."
Andrew pressed his lips together and said nothing.
The conversation between the two was interrupted. Olivia couldn't care about anything else now. Her attention was all on Evelyn.
She was very worried about her and was about to go check on her condition.
But just as she ran two steps, Andrew pulled her back.
Olivia was caught off guard by this pull. Due to the momentum, her head bumped into Andrew's chest.
It didn't hurt, but it left her brain stunned.
She looked up blankly at the man in front of her.
Andrew loosely supported her waist, protecting her while whispering in her ear, "We'll find another time to talk about our matter in detail.
Whatever you want to know, I can tell you.
But there's one thing—don't avoid me anymore!"
This last sentence carried an undeniable and aggressive tone.
Olivia looked into his eyes and suddenly felt a bit startled.
This was the first time she had seen such emotion surging in the usually calm and reserved Andrew's eyes.
This look made her heartbeat suddenly speed up, almost out of control.
Before her brain could catch up, the man's hand had already ruffled her hair, saying gently, "Go on, take care of your friend."
Only then did Olivia come to her senses. She obediently said "Oh," then turned and walked to Evelyn's side.
Evelyn had finished vomiting. David was giving her water to rinse her mouth and handing her tissues.
Olivia looked very worried and asked with concern, "Evelyn, are you okay?"
As soon as Evelyn saw her, she threw everything in her hands to David and whined pitifully, "Olivia, I want to sleep."
Olivia found it a bit funny and quickly responded, "Okay, I'll take you back to sleep right now."
Then she took the person from David's hands. "Thank you for your trouble."
David didn't dare accept the thanks and quickly said, "No trouble at all."
Evelyn's entire body weight was almost pressing on Olivia, making her stumble and nearly lose her balance.
Fortunately, someone was supporting her from behind.
"Be careful."
It was Andrew.
Her entire back was almost seamlessly pressed against him.
Andrew held her shoulders, glanced at Evelyn whose eyes were already closed, and said to her, "Let David handle her. You just watch from the side."
David was very tactful and immediately took Evelyn over, saying, "Yes, Dr. Smith, we still have to go upstairs. Let me help support Ms. Thomas."
Hearing this, Olivia didn't insist.
She knew that drunk people were heavier than usual. She really couldn't carry Evelyn by herself.
So she felt at ease handing the person over to David and said to him, "Thank you then."
David smiled and said, "No trouble."
As a grown man, he had plenty of strength. He easily led Evelyn forward. Evelyn was probably completely drunk and didn't make a fuss anymore, obediently being led along.
Seeing this, Olivia breathed a sigh of relief, then turned to say goodbye to Andrew. "Then... Mr. Hamilton, I'll go up now?"
Andrew's eyes gazed deeply at her and said, "Besides what I just told you, there's one more thing."
"Hmm?"
Olivia looked at him questioningly and asked, "What is it?"
Andrew said seriously, "Don't call me Mr. Hamilton anymore. Call me by my name. That title is too distant. I don't like it."
Olivia's head was buzzing, echoing with this sentence.
What did "too distant" mean?
Did he want them to be closer?
Olivia wasn't sure. She didn't ask, and didn't dare to ask.
On the way back, all Olivia could think about was Andrew's last words.
Unfortunately, her brain tonight seemed stuck and couldn't process things.
Also because she was too timid, she only dared to hide in her own shell and didn't dare to ask directly.
So that night, after returning home, Evelyn fell asleep as soon as she hit the bed due to the alcohol, but Olivia successfully stayed awake.
She tossed and turned, unable to sleep, clearly replaying the man's words in her mind.
The more she thought about it, the more her heart was in turmoil—it was like all her emotions were churning up a peaceful pond.
She had worked so hard to tell herself to suppress all those impossible, forbidden thoughts.
But how long had that lasted?
As soon as Andrew appeared, the calm she had barely restored was broken again.
That night, Olivia didn't know how she finally fell asleep.
The next day, she successfully overslept.
When she woke up, Yara had already sent Bianca to school.
Evelyn also slept until noon. The discomfort of the hangover made her grimace. When she crawled up to find Olivia, her mind was still foggy.
"Olivia, how did we get back last night?"
Her memory still stopped at the bar's lounge.
Hearing this, Olivia looked at her with a haunted expression and asked back, "What do you think?"
After stirring up a huge wave last night, Evelyn had just gone to sleep, and now she woke up having forgotten!
Evelyn began to think hard. After a while, she said to Olivia, "I think I dreamed about Mr. Hamilton and gave him a good scolding in the dream!"
At this point, Evelyn's face showed a bright smile. "At least I stood up for you in my dream!"
She was relatively timid in reality. Complaining was one thing, but she didn't actually dare to scold Andrew to his face.
But Olivia's expression not only didn't smile, it even looked somewhat resentful. "You think that was a dream?"
"Huh? Wasn't it?" Evelyn looked at her expression and belatedly realized something. Her face changed slightly. "Don't tell me he really showed up last night? I really scolded him?"
Olivia couldn't hold it in. She grabbed her neck on the spot and yelled, "You still have the nerve to ask! Because you drank too much, my secret was almost exposed by you!"
Evelyn was shaken dizzy and quickly said, "I was wrong, I was wrong. Calm down first."
The matter was already past. Olivia wasn't really angry with her.
Besides, she knew Evelyn was just standing up for her last night.
After Olivia let go, Evelyn immediately asked her with gossip: "What did I say then? What exactly happened? Tell me the details?"
Olivia glared at her irritably and told her about the good deed she had done.
She said through gritted teeth, "Do you know how much effort I spent trying to cover up what you said? You even loudly called Andrew a scumbag! Everyone present was shocked by you!"
Thinking about that scene, Evelyn's scalp started to tingle too.
She had actually been bold enough to do that.
But even so, she couldn't help asking Olivia, "So what was Mr. Hamilton's reaction then? I called him out like that, he must have had some response, right?"
Olivia's expression hesitated.
Later, Andrew did have some reaction. He was obviously reminded by Evelyn's words.
But the relationship between them, for now, was still unclear.
Olivia could only reply, "He said he wants to find time to talk with me again, that's all.
But even so, it still doesn't change the fact that he has a fiancée.
If you get a chance to see him next time, don't talk nonsense again."
Evelyn couldn't help but sigh. "True. No matter how much I remind him, the fact that he has a fiancée can't become false."
