Chapter 214 Cannot, Inconvenient
The old man on the other end of the phone said cheerfully, "Alright then, I'm counting on you, Aurelia. You're the only one who can pull this off.
That stubborn boy won't listen to me. If you can convince him and bring him back, I'll arrange the engagement between him and your family right away."
A hint of joy flickered in Aurelia's eyes, but her tone remained reserved and modest. "I can only try. I'm not sure if it'll work."
Finnegan didn't insist she had to succeed.
He knew Andrew was a man with strong opinions.
But what if it worked?
Any guy would like an excellent girl like Aurelia, right?
Thinking this, Finnegan felt more confident.
Aurelia didn't chat long with Finnegan and quickly hung up.
After leaving the airport, a driver picked her up, and she headed straight to Maple Grove Villa.
At eleven-thirty at night, the doorbell rang. Andrew was still working on documents.
Hearing the doorbell suddenly, he told David to answer it.
David wondered, "Who would come looking for you this late? Could it be Mr. White?"
Andrew didn't know many people in Emerald City. It seemed only Benjamin would come visit.
However, David didn't expect to see Aurelia when he opened the door.
David looked surprised. "Ms. Kingsley, what brings you here?"
Aurelia had a gentle and dignified manner. She smiled softly. "I'm in Emerald City on business and thought I'd drop by to see Andrew. Has he gone to bed?"
Hearing this, David's tone was hesitant. "Not yet..."
He didn't quite understand Aurelia's purpose.
Normal people didn't visit in the middle of the night, do they?
After thinking it over, David concluded that Aurelia had ulterior motives for coming to see Andrew.
Aurelia didn't know what David was thinking. After hearing his answer, she said, "Could you please let him know I'm here?"
"Okay..." David agreed, then realized with growing alarm.
He was in trouble. He seemed to know why Aurelia had shown up.
He might have really missed tracking this person.
Last time Finnegan said he might send someone, but David never expected he'd send Aurelia.
But thinking about it now was useless. David hurried back to report.
Andrew, inside, frowned slightly when he heard who it was, but quickly relaxed.
He set his documents on the sofa and got up to go to the door.
When he saw Aurelia, he asked calmly, "On a business trip?"
"Yes." Aurelia nodded, her beautiful eyes fixed on the man before her.
She hadn't seen Andrew in a long time.
The man was as devastatingly attractive as ever—white shirt, black dress pants, gold-rimmed glasses perched on his high-bridged nose, making him look restrained yet full of magnetic appeal, still making her heart flutter.
However, Aurelia didn't let her emotions show too obviously.
She knew the man didn't like people staring at him, so she said, "I heard from your grandfather that you're not too busy lately, so I took the liberty of coming to see you. You don't mind, do you?"
Andrew already understood why she was here.
But he didn't call her out directly. He just nodded politely and said, "I'm doing well. Have you booked a hotel?"
Hearing his question, Aurelia's heart stirred, and she immediately said, "I left in a hurry today, and the flight was quite late, so I haven't had time to book one yet."
Aurelia felt she had gotten a bit closer to him, and excitement and anticipation rose in her heart.
Andrew didn't notice her scheming.
After glancing at the time, he said politely, "I'll have David book one for you and take you there to rest."
Hearing this, Aurelia's expression froze slightly.
She seemed not to have expected that after traveling all this way, she wouldn't even get through the door before being sent away.
Her expression hesitated for a moment, then she smiled. "It's fine, no rush. I don't have any activities during the day tomorrow. I'm meeting clients in the evening."
These words, though reserved, carried a hint of suggestion.
Even David could hear the implication.
Wasn't she asking Andrew to let her stay?
Truly worthy of being sent by Finnegan!
Coming on so strong right away.
However, Andrew seemed not to have caught her meaning.
He replied, "It's getting late. It's not safe for a girl to be out alone."
Without waiting for Aurelia to respond, he instructed David directly, "David, arrange for a driver to take Ms. Kingsley to a hotel."
David readily agreed, "Yes!"
Then he walked out and said to Aurelia, "Ms. Kingsley, let me help you with your luggage."
Aurelia hadn't expected him to arrange everything so thoroughly.
If she tried to insist, she'd only leave a bad impression, so she had to compromise.
"Alright then, I'll be going. You should rest early too." Andrew nodded slightly and watched her leave before closing the door.
After entering the house, his expression was somewhat cold, though it was hard to tell if he was bothered by the interruption.
Until Finnegan called him.
He answered, his expression still calm. "Why aren't you asleep yet? At your age, the doctor said early to bed, early to rise is good for your health."
Hearing his concern, Finnegan said with a smile, "I already took a nap. I just remembered something I wanted to tell you.
Aurelia is on a business trip to Emerald City. She should have arrived at your place by now. Did you see her?"
Andrew narrowed his eyes. "I did."
Finnegan said cheerfully, "Then remember to let her stay the night. It's not safe for a girl to be out alone."
Andrew didn't do as he wished and answered honestly, "I've already arranged a hotel for her. She's on her way there now and has probably already checked in."
"You..." Finnegan was choked by his words, then asked in disbelief, "Late at night, a girl just off the plane, and you send her to a hotel?
You have so many empty rooms in that villa. Can't you spare one?"
Andrew answered calmly, "I can, but it's not convenient for a girl to stay."
Finnegan's beard trembled. He felt Andrew had energized him with anger late at night.
He was hoping to hold a great-grandchild, but when someone was delivered to his door, Andrew wouldn't take the hint.
"I think you're trying to anger me to death!" After throwing out these words, Finnegan huffily hung up.
Andrew knew why he was angry, but he didn't care. He continued with his work, not taking this little episode to heart at all.
...
The next day, Olivia was still sleeping when she felt something nuzzling insistently in her arms.
She was nuzzled awake. Opening her eyes, she saw a fuzzy little head.
She couldn't help but laugh and lightly patted Bianca's little bottom. "Waking me up so early in the morning—aren't you afraid of getting spanked?"
Bianca said in a sweet childlike voice, "Mommy, wake up! Daddy's coming back soon. We made plans to go out today. We can't sleep in."
Olivia looked at Bianca's bright eyes, full of anticipation, and could only smile and say, "Alright, I'm getting up."
She had known about Bianca and Andrew's plans since last night. She couldn't stop it, so what could she do?
She could only try not to dampen Bianca's spirits.
After all, she was still sick, wasn't she?
Olivia got up and freshened up, then took the little one to breakfast and helped dress her up.
Since they were going out today, she changed her into a white sweater with a light pink jumper dress and a white coat, making her look soft and adorable.
Yara also came to help, braiding Bianca's hair into several beautiful braids with two cute little bells at the ends.
As she moved, her little head would bob slightly, and the bells would make crisp sounds—absolutely adorable.
Evelyn came over to mooch breakfast. When she saw the dressed-up Bianca, she was instantly smitten. "Bianca, how can you be so cute? Let me give you a kiss!"
She picked up the cuddly Bianca and kissed her repeatedly. Bianca giggled in her arms.
After breakfast, the mother and daughter waited at home for Andrew.
Meanwhile, after Andrew woke up, he saw David come to him looking dejected. "This was my oversight. I thought Mr. Finnegan Hamilton would arrange for a subordinate, or the butler, or even come himself. I just never expected he'd ask Ms. Kingsley to come. Mr. Andrew Hamilton, please punish me."
Andrew said calmly, "It's fine. My grandfather's thought process has always been like this—impossible to figure out."
As he spoke, he methodically adjusted his cuffs, then went downstairs.
Andrew didn't eat breakfast at home because Bianca had sent him a message saying she had prepared some for him and asking when he'd come over.
David had already arranged the car. The two were about to leave.
Unexpectedly, at that moment, Aurelia suddenly called.
David glanced at Andrew.
Andrew stared at the incoming call and finally answered it.
Aurelia's cheerful voice came through the phone. "Andrew, I ordered breakfast and would like to invite you to join me. Let's explore Emerald City together today. I've looked at some travel guides. I've been too busy with work and never had a chance to visit. It's a rare opportunity."
Her tone was full of anticipation.
But Andrew seemed not to hear it. He said, "No need. You eat by yourself. I have other plans today."
Aurelia was rejected again but didn't give up. She asked with a smile, "Is it work?"
Andrew said, "No."
Aurelia half-joked, "Then is it something very important? Can't you make an exception? I finally managed to squeeze out a day."
This softened tone would have made any other man relent and agree.
But not Andrew.
His tone also cooled a bit. "No, it is quite important. I don't like anyone or anything disrupting my plans."
Hearing his suddenly stern tone, Aurelia's heart tightened. She quickly said understandingly, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way, Andrew. You go ahead with your business."
She didn't dare push further and could only temporarily abandon her plan.
However, her expression couldn't quite hold up.
From last night until now, she had seen him, but all she got was being refused.
No one had ever rejected her like this, except Andrew.
But he was precisely the person she had been thinking about for so long!
After Andrew hung up, displeasure had already crept into his expression.
A few seconds later, he instructed David, "Change of route. Go somewhere first."
