Chapter 17 He Disgusts Me
Every word Olivia said hit Chase where it hurt the most!
Chase never thought Olivia, who had always been meek and submissive, would dare to insult him like this.
For a moment, he couldn't believe it. His eyes widened for a few seconds before he suddenly flew into a rage.
How dare this woman, Olivia, defame him like that?
"Olivia, who are you calling a loser? How dare you?"
Olivia didn't flinch, looking at him with disdain as she continued, "A fool who can't even make a judgment call? Calling you a loser is putting it mildly. You're pathetic, hiding in the shadows, coveting Sophia while watching her and your brother being affectionate. You'll live your whole life in your brother's shadow!"
Chase's mind went blank with rage upon hearing this.
Was this woman really Olivia?
In the past, no matter how much he mocked or insulted her, Olivia would just swallow her pride or simply avoid him.
But now, she was sharp-tongued and unyielding!
Had she gone mad?
The most puzzling thing was, Olivia was supposed to be deeply in love with Michael, wasn't she? How could she say something about Michael and Sophia being affectionate?
Was she blinded by jealousy and anger?
Although he didn't understand, it didn't stop Chase from being furious.
Pointing at Olivia, he shouted, "Olivia, who do you think you are to lecture me?"
Chase had always been rebellious, bolstered by his privileged family background and his decent abilities, which placed him just below Michael in Emerald City's elite circles.
Usually, people would try to curry favor with him. Who had ever dared to humiliate him like this?
Olivia was unbelievably audacious!
In his rage, Chase's words became even more unrestrained, "You have the nerve to call others pathetic? Look at yourself! You worked so hard to heal my brother, married him, and toiled away at the company, but does he even spare you a glance?
Sophia is different. One phone call from her and he rushes over. He's been staying at Sophia's place every night lately, have you noticed?"
His words were indeed cutting.
Even though Olivia told herself she didn't care anymore, her face still darkened.
Chase noticed and suddenly felt less angry, his expression full of mockery, "Olivia, compared to me, you're even more of a failure! You can't even keep your own husband. You're the real loser! Just wait, my brother will soon divorce you, and then I'll see how you beg him not to!"
After saying this, he laughed triumphantly.
Olivia looked at his smug face, but her expression didn't change much.
She didn't even want Michael anymore. Why would she beg him?
In the past, she had indeed failed, wasting all her emotions.
But at least she had some dignity left, knowing when to cut her losses!
Olivia gave him a pitying look, "You're right, I'm not as good as you! Sucking up to women the way you do is truly rare. Keep dreaming, keep sucking up to Sophia, and see when she finally notices you.
And, it's not your brother who wants the divorce, it's me who finds him dirty, got it?"
With that scornful remark, Olivia didn't waste another second on him and quickly left with Bianca.
Chase stood there, baffled. "Olivia, what do you mean?"
Could it be that Olivia was going to give up on Michael?
No, that was absolutely impossible!
Everyone who knew her knew how much she loved Michael. She would never let go in this lifetime!
That must have been just a bluff!
After leaving the Johnson Mansion, Olivia took Bianca home.
Her mood wasn't affected by Chase's provocation.
But she did feel a bit sad about the jade pendant Emily had given her being taken away.
Still, she didn't regret it; the divorce was necessary.
But when was Michael coming back?
Meanwhile, in Silverlight City, at a cozy coffee shop, Sophia had just finished meeting with a client and was sitting at her table, looking dejected.
Michael came to pick her up, and as soon as he walked in, he saw her looking so downcast.
He quickly walked over to her and sat down, asking with concern, "Why the sad face? Did things not go well with Mr. Howard?"
Sophia's eyes were red as she looked up at him, seeming deeply wronged. Her mouth moved a few times, trying to speak, but the words wouldn't come out.
She looked pitiful!
"What happened?" Michael frowned, his expression becoming more tense, "Did Mr. Howard bully you?"
Sophia shook her head, her voice choked and pitiful, "No, it's my own fault! I'm sorry, Michael! I let you down. I couldn't keep Mr. Howard!
I already apologized sincerely to him, but he still said that because of the Johnson Group's negligence, the system we submitted had a flaw, causing a batch of medical equipment to be delayed. So, he won't be working with us anymore!
I'm so useless, I couldn't even persuade him, even though I was full of sincerity and offered to compensate for their loss, he still decided not to cooperate."
As she finished, tears rolled down her cheeks.
Michael was stunned and instinctively tried to comfort her, "Don't cry..."
But Sophia seemed deeply hurt, yet tried to be strong, biting her lower lip, "Michael, should I not have taken this position? When Olivia was managing things, everything was fine, no problems at all. As soon as I took over, we started losing clients.
They seem to have issues with me. Do they think I pushed Olivia out?
Maybe I should go back and apologize to Olivia, give her back the director's position?
If she comes back, maybe things won't be like this anymore!"
