Chapter 158 Can It Not Be Soft?
On the way back to their lodging, she was almost moving on pure instinct, following Andrew.
Andrew was beside her, seemingly saying something, but she didn't hear a word of it.
It wasn't until she tripped over a step that she was forced to snap back to reality.
"Are you okay?"
Andrew caught her, his handsome features showing some concern. Still shaken, Olivia looked at him and replied, "I'm... fine."
Then she raised her hand to rub her temples, her tone apologetic, "Sorry, I was just too tired. I didn't hear what you were saying."
Andrew could tell.
Earlier when they were walking, she seemed a bit dazed, clearly exhausted.
He felt even more guilty, "I should be the one apologizing. If I hadn't called you here, you wouldn't be this worn out."
Olivia shook her head, not minding it, "It's okay. Although it was tiring, we got through it, didn't we?"
At this point, she noticed they had already returned indoors.
The room before her was simply furnished, with just an iron bed, wooden desk and chairs, and a wardrobe, but it was kept very clean.
After looking around, she asked, "Am I staying here tonight?"
Andrew nodded, "The mountain station has limited facilities, but the bedding is all new and washed. I hope you don't mind."
Olivia took a look.
The blanket was folded neatly, and the layer underneath looked particularly thick and soft - clearly an extra layer had been added.
She wasn't a fussy person to begin with, and especially not when she was this exhausted. She immediately walked over, sat on the bed, and said, "I don't mind at all. This bed is pretty soft, I'm sure it'll be really comfortable to sleep on."
David, standing by the door, thought to himself: Of course it's soft! Mr. Hamilton specifically arranged for this!
Seeing that she really didn't mind, Andrew felt a warmth in his chest. He walked over and asked, "Before you rest, do you want to eat something? We have soup here. You can warm up with it before sleeping."
Olivia really had no appetite, so she shook her head, "No thanks, I'd rather just wash up and go straight to sleep... To be honest, I really want to just lie down right now and sleep for a whole day!"
After half-joking, she took off her outer coat.
It wasn't as cold indoors as outside, but the temperature was still terribly low, and she almost didn't want to take it off.
However, that thought only flashed through her mind briefly before disappearing.
"Thanks for the coat. Good thing I had it to block the wind earlier, otherwise I probably would've frozen solid."
As Andrew took the coat, he was about to say "It's okay."
But his fingertips accidentally touched her hand, feeling a bone-chilling coldness.
This temperature...
His brow furrowed, and he immediately said, "Your luggage is in the closet. There's hot water in the bathroom. Take a hot shower first, then get some good rest. If you need anything, just find me."
Olivia had no objections.
Perhaps worried she might catch a cold, Andrew didn't stay long and left quickly.
After he left, Olivia didn't delay either. She quickly found her clothes and went to take a shower.
When she finished, her head had barely touched the pillow before she fell asleep.
She thought she'd sleep deeply, but halfway through the night, she was woken by a cramping pain.
Olivia opened her eyes, feeling helpless.
The pain came from her abdomen, clearly a sign of her period.
She'd left in such a hurry this time that she hadn't brought any supplies at all.
At this late hour, would she have to go to the medical area and ask those nurses...
Everything really happens at the worst possible time.
Olivia felt like crying but had no tears. She could only endure the cold, crawl out from under the covers, and leave the room.
It was past 3 AM, everything outside was silent, and the cold wind was biting.
Olivia had planned to make it quick, but as soon as she stepped out, she was startled by two figures standing at the door.
They were two bodyguards in black.
When they saw her, they immediately greeted respectfully, "Dr. Garcia."
Olivia patted her chest and couldn't help asking, "Why aren't you sleeping in the middle of the night? Why are you here scaring people?"
The bodyguards were stunned and quickly explained, "Sorry, we're here on Mr. Hamilton's orders to watch over you. He was worried you might wake up and need something... Is Dr. Garcia going somewhere? If you're looking for someone or need to get something, you can tell us."
Olivia paused.
So Andrew had arranged for them?
She felt a warmth in her heart but declined their offer.
How could she ask two strange men to help with this kind of thing?
"No need, I can go myself."
The bodyguards looked disapproving, "It's very cold outside. Dr. Garcia has been busy for a day and night and hasn't recovered yet. Going out could make you sick. You should let us do it."
Olivia clutched her coat tighter and insisted, "Really, no need!"
The two bodyguards were in a difficult position.
They were following orders. If they just let her go out like this, they'd probably be blamed in the morning.
Just as both sides were at a standstill, the door to the next room suddenly opened.
Steady footsteps came from inside.
Olivia looked over and was surprised to see it was Andrew.
The man had clearly been woken up. His handsome features were slightly tense, still carrying some lingering displeasure, his voice low and cold, "What's all the noise?"
When the bodyguards saw him, they looked like they'd seen their savior and quickly reported, "Mr. Hamilton, Dr. Garcia woke up and insists on going out. We asked if she needed help, but she refused!"
Andrew's eyes narrowed slightly, and only then did he notice the figure being blocked.
He immediately strode over with his long legs and asked gently, "Why are you awake? Where are you going?"
"..."
Olivia felt awkward and embarrassed.
Why was Andrew sleeping next door?
If she'd known, she wouldn't have argued with them!
"Hmm?"
Seeing her silence, Andrew asked with confusion, "Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"
"No... it's just..."
Olivia mumbled, really unable to say it.
However, her lower abdomen was indeed cramping in waves, making her feel very uncomfortable.
She unconsciously covered it with her hand.
Seeing this, Andrew's brow furrowed, "Your stomach hurts?"
Olivia felt like breaking down.
If only it were a stomachache...
She stammered, "No, I just... want to go to the medical area to find a female nurse... You don't need to worry about me, I'll really be back quickly!"
Seeing her like this, Andrew finally realized belatedly what was going on.
He was slightly taken aback but quickly recovered, his tone natural, "I understand. Go back inside first, it's cold out here, don't freeze. As for your discomfort... I'll figure something out."
Without waiting for her response, he turned and pushed her back inside.
When Olivia was back under the covers, she still had some doubts.
Did he really understand?
He's not going to bring back stomach medicine, is he?
Olivia hesitantly reached for her phone, thinking maybe she should send him a message to explain.
At least text would be less awkward!
But she couldn't turn it on.
Her phone had died at some point.
Olivia was completely numb and gave up struggling.
Whatever!
This wasn't the first time she'd been embarrassed in front of him!
One more time wouldn't hurt.
