Chapter 10 Michael Was Not Worth It

Chapter 10 Michael Was Not Worth It

Olivia's face was already pale from feeling unwell.

Now, seeing this scene, she went completely pale.

She always knew Michael didn't love her.

But they weren't even divorced yet. It was one thing if he did this behind her back, but to be so blatant about it, hugging and holding each other right in front of her.

This was just too much!

The people in the private room hadn't noticed Olivia standing there.

But Michael did.

He hadn't expected Olivia to come back at that moment, and his expression changed for a second.

But he quickly regained his composure.

He didn't seem to have any intention of pushing Sophia away and even asked with concern, "How are you feeling? Can you stand?"

Sophia held her forehead and replied, "I think so..."

Though she said that, Sophia's face clearly showed signs of being drunk, and her body swayed slightly.

Then, she fell right into Michael's arms.

Michael wasn't angry. He just held her shoulders with a resigned expression, his tone indulgent, "You're drunk. I'll take you home."

With that, he reached for Sophia's bag and coat, then turned to the group, "Let's call it a night."

The people present didn't dare to say anything and quickly stood up, agreeing, "Alright, Mr. Johnson, take care."

Michael nodded and soon helped Sophia out.

Olivia stood at the door of the private room.

As they passed by her, Sophia suddenly stopped and said softly, "Michael, maybe I should go by myself. You should take Olivia home; she drank tonight too..."

She pretended to be considerate.

Michael glanced at Olivia and replied indifferently, "No need. She only had one drink; she won't be drunk. She can get home on her own.

But you, being this drunk, if something happens, I wouldn't know how to explain it to your parents!"

After saying this, Michael led Sophia past Olivia.

At that moment, Olivia noticed Sophia lifting her eyes in Michael's arms, a smug and mocking smile on her lips.

It was like she was declaring her victory!

She didn't look drunk at all.

Olivia clenched her fists but didn't step forward to stop them.

She knew it wouldn't make any difference.

After all, Michael had said she could handle it herself!

Michael had always been like this with her!

She remembered once when she got drunk at a company event because of a client.

She had called Michael to pick her up.

In the end, Michael just sent a driver.

He was busy with work.

To Michael, her safety was never important, not even as important as his work!

If he cared even a little, how could Sophia dare to provoke her like this?

Olivia tried to ignore the pain and not let it get to her.

That night, after the dinner ended, everyone planned to go to another place.

But Olivia declined.

She really wasn't in the mood. She thanked everyone for their kindness and left.

Outside the restaurant, she realized it had started pouring rain.

Olivia hadn't driven tonight, anticipating she might drink.

At this hour, ride-share apps were swamped with requests.

There were already over a hundred people ahead of her.

Olivia waited under the porch, shivering in the cold winter wind, her stomach aching.

Just before she came out, she had thrown up in the restroom, and now she felt awful.

At that moment, a familiar Rolls-Royce drove past her.

The wheels splashed water, some of it landing on her. She saw the tall, elegant figure of the man in the back seat, with Sophia leaning intimately on his shoulder.

Olivia's nose twitched, and she couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

She crouched down, her fingers trembling as she searched her phone for contacts.

The only number she felt she could call was her best friend, Evelyn.

"Evelyn, can you... come pick me up?"

Hearing her choked voice, Evelyn quickly asked, "Olivia, what's wrong? Where are you? I'll be right there!"

Olivia gave her the restaurant's address.

About ten minutes later, a red sports car screeched to a halt at the entrance of Azure & Gold.

Evelyn got out and quickly scanned the area, soon spotting Olivia.

She was huddled by a pillar, her eyes red, looking both disheveled and fragile.

Evelyn was terrified seeing her like this and rushed over to grab her hand, "Olivia, are you okay? Your hands are so cold, and your clothes are wet. Who did this to you? Tell me, and I'll deal with them!"

Olivia shook her head, not wanting to say anything.

She leaned into Evelyn, as if drawing strength from her, enough to keep her from collapsing.

Seeing her in such a state, Evelyn didn't press further. She patted her back soothingly, "It's okay, it's okay. No matter what happened, you have me. Let's go home first, alright? Your clothes are wet, and it's so cold outside. You'll get sick."

Olivia didn't refuse.

Evelyn immediately took her to the car and drove her home.

Her place wasn't far from the restaurant.

As soon as they got inside, Evelyn urged Olivia, "Go take a hot shower, dry your hair afterward. There are clean robes in the bathroom. I'll find you some clothes."

Olivia nodded and did as she was told.

After a hot bath, she came out to find Evelyn had made some hot soup, calling her over, "Come drink this. I put a lot of sugar in it; it's sweet."

Olivia obediently drank the soup.

It was indeed very sweet, and the sweetness somewhat soothed the bitterness in her heart, making her feel a bit better.

Evelyn patiently waited for her to finish, then asked with concern, "Can you tell me what happened now?"

Olivia hadn't intended to talk about the distressing events.

But seeing her current state would only make Evelyn more worried.

If she didn't explain, Evelyn would keep asking until she found out.

So, Olivia briefly explained the situation.

She didn't go into detail, but Evelyn was smart enough to piece things together.

She could almost picture the situation Olivia had faced.

Enraged, she slammed the table, "How dare Michael treat you like that? Has he forgotten who took care of him when he couldn't walk?

Without you, he'd still be a cripple. Now, he dares to blatantly mistreat you and flirt with his ex while you're still married!

I used to think he was cold and upright, but he's nothing but scum... disgusting!"

After venting her anger, Evelyn sat back down and hugged Olivia, feeling heartbroken. "Olivia, have you been suffering a lot lately? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Though she might not be able to help much, she could at least offer comfort or pick her up anytime, providing a place to stay.

Feeling Evelyn's concern, Olivia's cold heart began to warm.

She shook her head and softly replied, "There's nothing worth mentioning... Now that I've resigned from the Johnson Group's R&D department, I can focus on my own career."

She looked at Evelyn with a hoarse voice, "Evelyn, I'm planning to divorce Michael! You were right before. Giving up my career for a man isn't worth it. I now realize how wrong I was!"
