Vanessa’s POV
I paced back and forth in the bathroom, my mind racing with disbelief. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I began talking to myself, overwhelmed by the thoughts I couldn't share with anyone else. After all, I couldn't exactly tell my best friend that her father was my mate.
"Okay, yes, I am shocked," I muttered, words spilling out in a breathless rush. "I mean, what the hell? Alpha Alexander is the next Alpha King?" My voice rose with incredulity, echoing the disbelief churning inside me.
As I grappled with the staggering revelation, I struggled to make sense of it all. "Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this," I continued, my words tinged with incredulity. "I mean, no one ever did because my dad was so shocked when he heard." The memory of my father's stunned reaction only deepened my confusion.
"And the rest of the pack members..." I trailed off, my brows furrowing. "They're just as bewildered as I am." I gestured vaguely, indicating the collective astonishment that had permeated our pack upon receiving the news from the Alpha King's messengers. "Shocked doesn't even begin to describe it."
"It's unheard of," I mused aloud, my thoughts swirling. "The Alpha King had never visited Blood Moon Pack or any other pack, for that matter." My tone was laced with disbelief as I tried to reconcile the unprecedented nature of Alexander's sudden ascension. Alpha Freaking King? The Alpha of all alphas in the world? Yeah, right.
"Other alphas visit and pay their respects to the king," I continued, my voice tinged with bewilderment. "But..." I shook my head, unable to comprehend the implications of Alexander's inexplicable rise to power.
As I struggled to make sense of these incomprehensible events, my thoughts turned to Alexander's humble origins as a rogue in the woods. "Everyone knows that Alpha Alexander—or just Alexander now, given how often he's made me scream his name in the past month," I chuckled wryly. "He was a rogue when Frida found him, fending for himself alone in the woods."
The memory of Alexander's unlikely ascent to power only added to the surreal nature of the situation. "She made him the Alpha because her father was dying and had no other male child," I continued, incredulous. "But how on earth is he now an Alpha King? It makes no sense."
The royal car glided smoothly along the winding road, cutting through the crisp morning air. Inside, a heavy silence hung between us, punctuated only by the rhythmic hum of the engine. I stole a glance at Alpha Alexander, but his expression remained inscrutable, masked by an impenetrable facade.
Beside him, Amelia fidgeted restlessly in her seat, her brow furrowed with worry, confusion, and a hint of excitement. Her eyes darted nervously from the passing scenery to Alpha Alexander’s stoic demeanor, as if searching for answers.
As for me, I couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation coursing through my veins. The prospect of visiting the royal palace for the first time filled me with a heady mix of excitement and trepidation. The very idea of stepping into those hallowed halls sent a shiver of anticipation down my spine.
"The royal palace," I murmured to myself, words tinged with awe and wonder. It was a dreamlike scenario, one I had never dared to imagine. Yet here we were, hurtling towards destiny in the sleek confines of a royal car.
As we drew nearer to our destination, I couldn't help but wonder what awaited us within the palace walls. What secrets lay hidden behind its grand facades? What role would fate play in shaping our destinies within its storied halls?
Only time would tell, but one thing was certain: our lives were about to change in unimaginable ways. This felt like the beginning of a journey we couldn't foresee but were ready to embark on. I was eager to see how things would unfold and how Alexander had become the Alpha King.
It's going to be interesting.
