64- An old story
Sebastian
Roderick seemed lost in thought as he spoke.
\- It's all right. She was in her early twenties, already considered a genius at the time, there's nothing Rebecca isn't good at, it's really unfair about her natural ability to learn anything and her monstrous memory. She had a best friend, who worked alongside her in the corporation, I suppose you already know her occupation, right? - she asks and I nod. - Well, one rainy day, her friend was captured by a cartel, raped and killed, she was found in a dirty alley in a remote area. Rebeca has an amazing network of information and to find out who killed her friend, she called in a lot of favors until she knew who had done it, this was all achieved in a matter of hours after the body was found, she was cold as a corpse, her eyes were tearless and the only thing she talked about was revenge, when she got the exact location of the cartel, she prepared herself as if she was going to war, I tried to stop her, but she couldn't be stopped, I was hit on the head and when I woke up, I went after her worried that something might have happened, when I arrived at the place at dawn, I found Rebeca covered in blood and wounds, she was sitting on a pile of bodies and smoking a cigarette, her hair was scarlet and sticky, her black clothes completely soaked with the blood that had dripped from her enemies, somehow she had managed to kill them all and when she had finished smoking her cigarette, she sighed, looked up, lit another cigarette, picked up her things and walked out of the place and then came back with gasoline, She doused the whole place and after taking the last drag, she threw what was left of the lit cigarette into the fuel and watched everything burn with a calm countenance, all I could do was watch it wide-eyed, I had never seen such a thing in my life and it was frightening, because I couldn't even recognize my sister in that cold being next to me. When the fire had taken hold, she went to her car in silence and drove home. I followed her closely, watched her go upstairs, clean herself up, have dinner and go to sleep, all without saying a word. The next day, she got up as if nothing had happened, went to her best friend's funeral and then decided to leave the country. It was on that day that she gained notorious fame and a nickname that became her codename. - it ends.
\- Blood flower. - I finish and he shakes his head.
Now it all makes sense, all her mastery and calmness and her fame, although no one knew it was a woman, still, her feats are amazing and now I understand what Roderick said when he said that I didn't see her in a real state of rage, she really did look totally different from what I've seen so far. His words also imply that she could do the same as she did that time if I had died in vain at her hands. Not only her family, Anastasia and everyone in that mansion would be in danger. I don't care about Anastasia, but I know that she would go mad when she realized what she had done to her own family, it would be a massacre that could end with her losing her sanity and ending her life because of guilt. Fortunately, that didn't happen, thanks to Roderick's perfect team, and I'm grateful for that.
\- Now I understand what you mean. I'm still surprised to discover that my wife's killer instinct is much greater than mine. - I say.
\- Now, I'd like to know what made you come here? - Roderick asks worriedly.
\- About that, I've found a safe place for everyone. Don't worry, Anastasia won't be able to touch you, however, you are forbidden to leave, there could be a killer anywhere waiting for an opportunity, it won't be long before Roderick finishes what he was doing, in the meantime, Rebecca has a plan to contain Anastasia for a while. - I explain.
Even though I don't like them at the moment, they're still her family and so I have to treat them well.
\- Thank you for that. - They thanked me in unison.
I nodded and stood up when the handle turned and instinctively drew my gun and took aim. The door opened and there stood Rebecca's friend Valerius Benu with a small handbag, his eyes wide and his hands raised high.
\- What the hell is this? What kind of reception is this in my apartment? - he asks, staring at me with wide eyes.
I lowered the gun slowly and he breathed a sigh of relief. Roderick stood up and walked over to him with a friendly smile.
\- It was a little mistake, Ben. Sorry about that. - I tapped the man on the shoulder and he relaxed.
\- No problem Rod, it's just that... Fuck, weren't you dead? What the hell! - he shouts and pulls away from my brother-in-law's touch.
The whole scene was funny to watch as he looked a little pale and confused as he stared at Roderick wide-eyed, unable to believe his eyes.
\- Well, it's a long story, there's a lot you don't know, the last few days have been chaotic and you can't imagine how much has happened. - I smiled awkwardly.
\- You're right, I don't know, but you'll tell me. I suppose Rebekah brought them here for some reason, I'm listening right now. - He grabs his suitcase and sits down where I was before.
\- Well, I'm going, here's the address of the place where you'll be staying. - I put a piece of paper on the table, say goodbye and leave.
I already know the whole story, there's no need to stay, besides, for some reason, I don't like that guy, he's too friendly with Rebeca, he's too intimate, it annoys me and knowing that he knows her better than I do deeply stirs my territorial and possessive side, I don't want any man to know her like I do, unfortunately, he came long before me, but I'm going to change the situation, call it jealousy if you like, the fact is that I want to be the only man to know her in every way. I know it will take time, but I'll get there.
When I got home, I met Walter on the way and asked if Rebecca was still asleep, he said no, she was in the basement looking after Hannah in any way she wanted, curious to see her in action, I went downstairs with silent steps and approached the place where Hannah was, with every step I took closer to the place, the louder her screams got and the more my curiosity grew, When I appeared at the door, to my surprise, Rebeca was sitting on a wooden chair as she stared at Hannah and laughed at her desperate screams and cries, more surprising than that, was the fact that Hannah, although dirty, didn't have a scratch on her, absolutely no bruises, even so, she looked as if she was about to die and that was bizarre to watch.
When she noticed me, Rebeca smiled and stood up, walked over to me, kissed my cheek and started walking down the corridor, I just followed her until the screams were no longer heard, she looked perfectly aligned, not a hair out of place, as if she had even touched Hannah.
\- What made her scream like that? - I ask curiously.
\- I just told her that I would let her rot in that place until the end of her life and that no one would save her. She's a proud woman and there's nothing more powerful than words, I just laughed in her face and broke her pride, I showed her without laying a finger on her how I can make her suffer, it drove her to despair very quickly, as she was already fragile. - I shrug.
My respect for her grows even more. It may seem twisted to see the whole situation this way, it's bizarre even, yet nothing about our lives is ordinary, we thrive on blood and suffering, what can you expect from monsters like us? However, even we feel beyond all the blood and pain, and just like the others, we also bleed and suffer, even if you think otherwise, we protect what's important to us by whatever method, that's how the world is, our world.
