Chapter 89

Chapter 89
He lowered me gently onto my feet near my dresser, then moved back a bit as his gaze slowly moved around the room, taking in my reading table that was a bit messy with my texts and laptop, and my bed, which was also messy, while my dresser and chest were at least arranged.
I rubbed my arm nervously.
“Sorry, it’s not exactly…” I hesitated awkwardly. “What you’re probably used to. I rushed out, so I didn’t have time to clean up.”
Lucien looked back at me immediately.
The softness that entered his expression then caught me completely off guard.
“I love everything that belongs to you. I love that your scent is so strong here.” He sat on the bed, picked up my pillow, and inhaled sharply into it, black hair falling across the pillow.
My core tightened painfully, and I could feel the pressure between my thighs. My clit, my heart. I had to bite back a moan, feeling like I was just about to lose control.
He took another breath, then dropped the pillow. I immediately saw the effect on his pants at his crotch. He was turned on just like I was, and the room suddenly felt too small, too hot, yet there were goosebumps all over my skin.
He stood, and as he did, I swallowed, a hand going to my dresser to keep myself steady. He stepped closer, and I moved back, clipped against my chair as his hands found my waist.
“My good girl,” he murmured softly as he came closer. The praise sent heat rushing straight through me, so much so that I closed my legs tightly together, and it worsened the intensity I was feeling. My heart was racing so hard I felt it would combust.
I looked down immediately, trying to hide how thirsty I was. Lucien studied me quietly for a moment before chuckling.
“This is why you didn’t want me in your room.”
“That’s one reason.”
I stepped backward unconsciously until my back and hips pressed against the chair.
Lucien followed closer, leaving no room for me to breathe. “What were the others?”
“They’re not important.”
“They are to me.”
His voice had changed again, rougher, as his arms caged me in gently against the chair without fully touching me, his body heat surrounding me until my pulse felt completely out of control.
I looked away from him, suddenly unable to handle the intensity in his eyes.
“How wet are you now, baby girl?” he asked suddenly, and the suddenness made me almost choke, his voice a seductive murmur.
“Look at me.” The command forced my eyes to his. “Answer me.”
My heart raced as I struggled to form a coherent response.
“Don’t lie to me.” A pause. “Do you want me to check for myself?”
A shiver ran down my spine as I shook my head fervently, not even able to breathe. I didn’t even know why I was saying no, but I felt that if he touched me now, I would be ruined.
“Then tell me the truth.”
“I knew you were just going to try to seduce me,” I said, my voice faltering under his intense gaze. “That’s why I didn’t want you in my room. The way you make me feel when you’re close to me…” My voice trembled embarrassingly. “It scares me.”
“Is it working?” Lucien asked, his eyes glinting with satisfaction, his face coming closer to mine till his smell overwhelmed me, so good, like honey.
Lucien’s mouth curved slowly. “Is it working, my seduction?”
“A little,” I croaked out.
His fingers brushed lightly along my waist and my entire body betrayed me immediately as a small shaky breath escaped my lips, and his eyes darkened with satisfaction.
“Baby girl,” he murmured, “from where I’m standing, this looks like a lot more than a little.”
“You’re too confident.”
“And you’re too responsive.”
I opened my mouth to argue.
Instead, his lips crashed against mine.
The kiss stole every coherent thought from my head instantly.
It was deep and overwhelming and full of all the restraint he had been barely holding onto all afternoon. His hand slid into my hair while the other tightened around my waist, pulling me flush against him as though he physically could not get close enough.
A loud moan escaped me before I could stop it. God. I was going to orgasm from the kiss alone. Everything about him felt consuming.
“You like that,” he whispered against my mouth.
I could barely breathe properly.
Still, somehow I nodded.
“Yes.”
His forehead rested briefly against mine while both of us struggled for air.
Then his thumb brushed slowly over my swollen lips.
“Say you want me to seduce you.”
My heart nearly stopped.
“Lucien…”
“Say it.”
The look in his eyes made resistance impossible.
“I like when you seduce me,” I whispered finally, my voice trembling beneath the weight of his stare.
Before I could gather my thoughts, Lucien’s phone rang, shattering the intimate moment between us.
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath.
I gave him a gentle push on the chest, trying to steady my harsh breathing. “You should take your call. It might be important. You are the Alpha after all.”
“And the Alpha is busy with his Queen,” he shot back, irritation flickering through the affection in his voice. “Everyone else can wait. The world can wait.” His arms stayed around me, like even he couldn’t fully let go.
A quiet heaviness settled in my chest, unexpected and sharp. I looked down at my fingers, suddenly unsure of myself.
Lucien noticed immediately and lifted my chin with two fingers, forcing my gaze back to his. “Baby girl, what is it?”
“Nothing,” I murmured, but it didn’t come out convincing even to me.
“Don’t do that,” he said softly but firmly. “I can smell when your mood shifts.”
A faint, uneasy laugh escaped me. “That sounds creepy.”
“It sounds like I know you,” he corrected, thumb brushing my jaw. “Talk to me.”
I hesitated, the words stuck somewhere between my chest and my throat. “It’s just…”
“Just what?” His voice softened again, patient now. “Tell me.”
I swallowed. “I really want to be your Queen.”
For a moment, something shifted in his expression, raw. Then he pulled me closer.
“You will be my Queen,” he said, like it was already written somewhere inevitable. “No one else.”
A flicker of doubt still lingered in me. “What if—”
“There are no what-ifs,” he cut in, more firmly now. “It’s you. Only you.”
The certainty in his voice should have settled me completely.
It almost did.
Almost.
He leaned in then, kissing me slowly—my lips, then my nose, then my eyelids—like he was trying to erase every worry from my face. It made something soft and helpless rise in my chest.
I let out a breathless laugh when he nuzzled me again.
“I just want to eat you up,” he murmured.
“Lucien, you should—”
