Chapter 155 The Boss's Son
The second guard snorted quietly beside him.
Darius felt his anger flare instantly.
"You think this is funny?" he asked sharply.
The guard tilted his head slightly with an unimpressed expression.
"I think it is pretty stupid to yell at a door that was never locked."
Darius stepped closer to him.
"Stupid?" he repeated slowly.
The guard nodded without hesitation.
"That is the word I used."
Darius felt his fists clench at his sides.
"You want to repeat that again?"
The guard looked ready to respond when another voice interrupted them.
"What exactly is happening here?"
All three men turned toward the sound.
A woman walked toward them from the far end of the hallway with calm and steady steps. Her expression remained composed, but there was sharp authority in her eyes as she approached the group.
The guards straightened slightly when she stopped beside them.
"I asked a question," she said calmly. "Why are voices echoing through this hallway?"
The guard who had been speaking earlier gestured lazily toward Darius.
"There is nothing serious happening," he replied with a careless tone.
The woman raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Then explain."
The guard shrugged.
"Some dumbass woke up and started acting stupid."
He pointed directly at Darius.
The hallway fell silent for a brief moment.
Then the woman's hand moved faster than either guard expected.
The slap cracked sharply across the guard's face.
His head snapped sideways from the force before he could react.
Before he even finished processing what happened the woman stepped forward and drove her fist hard into his stomach.
The guard gasped loudly as the air left his lungs and he bent forward in pain.
The second guard stared in shock.
The woman grabbed the injured guard by the collar and forced him to stand upright again.
Her voice turned cold and firm.
"You will apologize immediately."
The guard coughed while struggling to breathe.
"For what?" he managed to ask.
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"For disrespecting the boss' son."
The words landed heavily in the hallway.
Darius felt the statement strike him with confusion.
The guard looked equally stunned.
"What?" he asked weakly.
The woman's grip tightened briefly before she released him.
"You heard exactly what I said."
The guard slowly turned his head toward Darius with disbelief written across his face.
Darius stepped forward slowly.
His eyes focused on the woman now.
"What did you just say?" he asked carefully.
The woman looked at him with a calm expression and a gentle smile that seemed almost reassuring.
"You should calm down," she said softly.
Darius' eyes narrowed slightly.
"I asked you to repeat it."
The woman glanced briefly at the guards before looking back at him.
"The boss will call for you shortly," she replied calmly. "Until then you are free to walk around and look at the place."
Darius stared at her with clear irritation.
"I did not ask about the boss calling for me," he said firmly.
His voice carried impatience now.
"You just called me the boss' son."
The woman met his gaze calmly.
"Yes."
Darius let out a short laugh filled with disbelief.
"The boss' son?" he repeated.
His hands moved slightly as if he could not believe the words.
"You expect me to believe that explanation without telling me anything else?"
The woman studied him quietly before responding.
"You will receive answers soon."
Darius shook his head slowly.
"No," he said with firm resistance. "I want answers now."
She remained calm despite the tension in his voice.
"Things will become clear when the boss speaks with you."
Darius stared at her in disbelief.
"You keep saying that," he replied with growing frustration. "But nobody is actually explaining anything."
His gaze hardened as he pointed back toward the room he had just left.
"Someone placed pictures of my parents inside that room," he continued. "Pictures that should not even exist here."
His voice lowered slightly.
"And now you are standing here telling me I am someone's son?"
The woman said nothing.
Darius leaned slightly closer to her.
"So answer one simple question for me," he continued.
"Who exactly is this boss?"
The woman held his gaze calmly.
"You will meet him soon."
Darius exhaled slowly with visible frustration.
"This situation makes absolutely no sense."
He turned his head briefly before looking back at her again.
"Where is Alberto?"
The question came suddenly.
The woman paused for a moment.
Darius noticed the hesitation immediately.
His eyes sharpened with suspicion.
"And the others who were with me," he added. "Where are they?"
The woman glanced briefly down the hallway before returning her attention to him.
"I am afraid I cannot indulge you with that information."
Darius frowned deeply.
"What does that even mean?"
"It means I cannot answer that question."
His irritation returned instantly.
"You cannot answer it or you simply refuse to?"
The woman remained composed.
"It would be best for you to wait."
Darius shook his head in frustration.
"I am not waiting."
The guards shifted slightly behind her, but the woman raised her hand calmly to stop them from moving.
Her eyes returned to Darius.
"You should trust that everything will be explained soon."
Darius looked unconvinced.
"I do not trust any of this," he said bluntly.
His voice carried the weight of confusion and anger.
"I woke up in a strange room surrounded by memories from a life that ended years ago."
His eyes hardened again.
"And everyone here behaves like they know something I do not."
The woman gave a small polite smile.
"You should ask the boss your questions."
She began to turn away.
Darius stepped forward quickly.
"Wait."
She paused and looked back at him.
His eyes searched her face carefully.
"Where is Alberto?" he asked again.
The woman gave the same calm smile.
"I am sorry."
Then she turned and continued walking down the hallway without another word.
Darius remained standing there while watching her disappear around the corner.
His jaw tightened slowly.
He glanced back at the guards who now avoided looking directly at him.
Nothing about the situation made sense, and the growing feeling in his chest told him that whatever answers waited ahead were not going to be simple.
