Chapter 6 ANOTHER PLAN
SUMMER
"Let me down!" I screamed at the top of my lungs at Mitch, who just barged into my room and scooped me up from the bed unexpectedly. His actions forced me to wake up.
"Not in a million years, darling." He chuckled, sounding super pleased with himself. "It's time for breakfast."
"At least let me brush my teeth!" I rubbed my eyes, pissed at him. "You can't just kidnap me from my bed!"
"Would they tag it as a capture if your captors are as handsome as hell?"
"Who even told you that? You are as ugly as a hag!" I yelled at him, hoping he would put me down. Being so small doesn't benefit me most of the time.
"Huh? That wasn't what you said in your sleep. I heard you correctly."
I froze at his words. "My... My dream?" I murmured. "What dream? What are you talking about? When did I say that?" I watched him, scowling at how contented he looked.
"I'm not telling you shit, baby girl. All I know is that we are handsome." He bent and pecked me on my forehead.
My cheeks turned blood-red at his actions. It was awkward as hell! Okay, not that embarrassing. I was secretly pleased about it, but I would never own that.
He carried me down the stairs, to the kitchen where the others were waiting like they do each morning. My stepbrothers were a sight to behold. Bare-chested, they looked like they just stepped out of a fashion magazine. I gulped, staring at them like a fool.
It would be a crime not to gawk at the perfection in front of me. They were a walking sin.
"I got our baby girl," Mitch said as he leaned down and kissed me on my forehead before he faced the others.
"Good morning, baby. It's time to eat," Mike said as he closed the distance between us. He leaned down and pecked me on my forehead like Mitch did. Before I could even wrap my head around the early dawn doting, Miles did the same, smiling.
I swear my heart lunged into my stomach. Fuck. Oh, my poor heart.
If I considered their actions this morning odd, it was nothing compared to the afternoon. Their clinginess seemed to go up in percentage. I assumed they would act awkward because of what transpired last night. I was prepared to watch them tripping on their feet as they avoided my gaze, but none of such things happened. They acted like everything was okay, and that shocked the freaking hell out of me.
As for their clinginess, it started when I complained about an itch in my left foot. Before I could complete my words, the three of them knelt in front of me. I got a full-body massage and was told to rest.
"What are you making tonight?" I looked up from the laptop on my thighs. I was sitting on the sofa in their office, going through the PowerPoint presentation I had made the day before.
Mitch and the others shared a look. It was a lengthy minute of silence before they turned to face me.
"We are eating out tonight. You can choose the restaurant," Miles said, shrugging.
"We are eating out? Why?"
This was the first time they ever proposed something like that. For as long as I can remember, we always ate at home. Our late father made our food until Mike was old enough to take over. They have never taken me out to eat and I loved it.
"Change of scenery. We thought you would love it," Mitch replied. They shared another look when I didn't say a word. "What's wrong? Don't you want to go out?"
"Nothing. It's just....." I trailed off. It was at the tip of my lips to tell them I didn't wish to go out, but a certain idea came to mind. Since they asked all the male workers in the office not to approach me, there was no way I could carry out the third plan, which was to make them jealous.
Going to an eatery with a male waiter to attend to us sounds very nice. My mouth lifted with a smile. They seemed to notice because of the frown that marred their faces as they watched me. "Is everything alright, baby girl?" Miles asked, gaping at me. They looked confused and I could tell why.
"I get to choose the restaurant, right?" I asked to be certain I heard them right. Letting them choose the place would be so boring. They would either end up asking for only a waitress or prepare the cliché dinner next to a river. Not that it wouldn't swoon me. I just needed to get the show on the road as urgently as I could.
Not desperate, though. I just needed my step-brothers to notice me. Not as a kid sister, but as a woman capable of satisfying their needs. Only then would I relax. Else, I would end up competing for their attention with another woman.
"Though we regret that decision, yes. You get to pick," Mitch stated, and the others nodded, supporting him.
"Good!" I placed the laptop back on the table I took it from and rose from the couch. "Then I've got to do some research. I will be back with good news, dear brothers." With a wink at my amused brothers, I strode towards the door, only to pause.
I turned to look at them, pleased when I saw their eyes fixed on my arse. Old habits hardly die.
"What's it?" Mitch asked as the others turned their faces, pretending to be engrossed in the watermark painting hung on the wall.
"Nothing. See you guys when I return." With a wink at them, I strode out of the office, chuckling under my breath. My 'innocent' brothers wouldn't know what hit them until I strike, which wouldn't be long from now.
Soon, they would be mine.
meant them to be. I only have 5 plans listed out. It wouldn't be long until I go through the list.
