The threat

RYAN'S POV

I could not believe anyone could find us there, my mind wondered to how the police could invade that place as they took me out. I was still in a state of shock as they led me away, and I couldn't help but think about what would happen next. My heart was racing, and I knew that my life was about to change in ways I couldn't yet imagine.

" How did this happen?" I worried as the sound of handcuffs clicking shut echoed in my ears as the police officers escorted me out from our hidden refuge. My mind raced with questions-how did they find us? Who betrayed our trust?

A surge of anger coursed through my veins as I caught sight of our meddlesome neighbor standing there, a smug smile playing on his lips. I glared at him with pure hatred, wondering how he could do such a thing. And then, as I was being led away, I vowed to myself that I would find a way to get to the bottom of this.

" You fool!!" I exclaimed angrily as I tried to walk to his direction to hit him. The police held me firm not letting me go.

" You will pay for this." I told him and in that instant, I felt a wave of gratitude for one thing: I was incredibly thankful that Selene was not there to witness this turbulent experience. Her innocence remained untarnished by this harsh reality. My daughter had already been taken away before all of this happened.

I was also happy Sophie wasn't here, I did not know how I would have been able to face her. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. Then I looked at the police officer and wondered what would happen next.

I was in the cell when a visitor requested to see me. I wondered who it was and initially refused to come out. The officer dragged me and pushed me out. I soon realized it was Sophie when I came out to see who it was. Sophie looked at me with a stern expression, fury in her eyes. I felt a mix of emotions as I faced her I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out. Sophie just stood there silently, her gaze fixed on me.

I wanted to turn back immediately I sighted her but the police officer dragged me there. "I dont want to see her, I have rights, don't I?" I kept saying but the officers wouldn't listen. They seemed to have been paid off or something.

" Well, your rights don't matter, you kidnapped a little child and now want to talk about rights." They brought me to where she was.

From behind the cold metal bars of the prison cell, I watched apprehensively as Sophie made her way towards me accompanied by an officer who seemed reluctant to allow such a confrontation.

A mixture of relief and dread consumed every inch of my being when Sophie finally stood before me. She wasted no time unleashing all the built-up anger inside her by delivering a swift and powerful kick straight into one of life's most vulnerable spots - My balls. leaving me crumpled on the floor in agonizing pain.

" Ouch," I exclaimed in pain and she continued to hit me in every part of my body. Tears mingled with rage glistened in Sophie's eyes as she shouted at me through clenched teeth, "How could you? You're despicable! You tore apart my family... you stole my precious daughter from me!!"

I looked up at Sophie, the pain radiating through my body, and a newfound determination began to take root within me. Despite the agony, I managed to find my voice. "Sophie, please listen to me," I pleaded between gasps for air. "I know what I did was wrong... unforgivable even. But believe me when I say that Selene's safety was always my priority. She means everything to me."

I could see the fire of anger burning in Sophie's eyes, but beneath that anger, there was a glimmer of pain and longing. "I understand your anger, Sophie," I said softly, my voice filled with remorse. "But please know that everything I did was to protect Selene. I thought it was the only way to keep her safe from those who wanted to harm us and have a chance with her as my daughter. You caused all of this, you stopped me from seeing her."

Sophie paused for a moment, her fists clenched tightly at her sides. She seemed torn between her love for our daughter and her hatred towards me.

" You have the effortery to blame me?" Sophie yelled at me and kicked me further.

As I lay on the cold, hard floor, struggling to catch my breath, I knew that Sophie's anger was justified. But in that moment of pain and vulnerability, a surge of determination coursed through me. "Sophie," I managed to say between labored breaths, "I understand your rage... but please listen to me. " I am sorry."

" I on't care why you did what you did. All I want now is information about Claire, she is out for me now and the least you can do to remedy your sins to help me get rid of her. She paused as she looked at me groaning in pain.

" What secret of hers do you know?" She asked me but I kept mute determined not to say anything. She looked at me and seeing that I did not want to say anything began to hit me further.

" I don't know anything." I screamed and she paused and looked at me for a moment, "You sure do and you will tell me what I need to hear." She said and continued to hit me ruthlessly.

The pain surged through every fiber of my being as Sophie relentlessly attacked me. But amidst the agony, a flicker of realization ignited within me - perhaps this was my chance to redeem myself. Gasping for air, I begged Sophie to pause for just a moment. "Sophie," I pleaded with all the sincerity in my voice, " I know something, I will tell you all need to know about Claire."

She stopped, " Go on, I am listening. Catching my breath, I told Sophie what she wanted to hear and soon after I was taken back to the cell.

As darkness engulfed me within these cold iron bars my mind wondered on what Sophie was going to do to Claire, her sister. She was determined and I knew nothing could stop her now.
