Back home again
SOPHIE'S POV
It had been over a week since Selene got missing and there had been no idea where she was.
My heart ached with worry as the days had passed without any news of Selene. I had searched high and low, questioned everyone she knew, but there was no trace of my daughter.
Desperate for answers, I decided I was going to try something different but I was not sure what it was. Karl had called to ask if I was home, he had been a great support since Selene's disappearance that I questioned if I had not been too harsh on him.
The door beg rang and I rushed to open the door. Since Karl had called to inform me that he was coming, I was expecting no one but him.
I opened the door and to my amazement, it was the cops. " You got good news for me?" I asked curiously wanting to know what was happening that they showed up at my house.
" Not actually. We came to update you with everything going on." I sighed deeply dissappointed with what what I was hearing.
" I am tired of hearing updates, find my daughter." I screamed and shut the door angrily.
" Updates with nothing positive." I sighed and got back to what I was busy with, tears welling up my eyes. The door bell rang again,
" It better not be the detective, for his sake I hope it isn't" I muttered beneath by breath as I went to open the door. " What!!!" I yelled as I opened the door, " oh, sorry about that." Karl was at the door this time beaming with smiles.
" Seemed roughed up, what's up?" He asked me, as he let himself into the house, " Am good just worked up, it not been an easy past few days." I responded shutting the door and heading to the living room with him.
" Well, guess what?" He asked me excitedly, " what is it, just tell me" I responded coldly clearly not in the mood for jokes and stuff.
"Turn on your T. V." he told me and I stared at him blankly wondering what he wanted to show me. " You better talk to me, if you have anything to say." I replied, walking into the room. He picked up the remote and turned on the TV.
As I walked up to the room, the words of the reporter made me stop, " That was about my daughter, wasn't it?" I rushed back to the living room to listen to the news. Ryan has been apprehended for kidnapping my daughter.
My heart raced as I listened to the news. Relief washed over me, but at the same time, anger and frustration bubbled up. How could Ryan do something so cruel? I clenched my fists, trying to contain my emotions. Karl looked at me with concern, his eyes filled with sympathy.
" Ryan was behind all of this?" I asked in disbelief as I staggered unable to support myself as the news hit me like a tidal wave. Karl reached out and helped me sit down." Careful there." He said as he helped me have a seat. The thoughts of Ryan being responsible for taking my daughter from me sounded unrealistic.
To think he had messaged a couple of times after Selene's disappearance threatening to sue me for negligence if anything ever happened to his child. " So he had her all along?"
Ryan been arrested for Selene's disappearance. A mix of emotions surged through my veins-relief that there might be answers soon, anger towards Ryan for betraying our trust, and frustration at all those days spent searching without any leads. I gripped onto Karl's arm for support as we listened intently to every detail being reported on the TV screen
A wave of conflicting emotions washed over me as the news sank in. Relief flooded my senses, knowing that was finally answers to Selene's disappearance. But alongside it was an overwhelming anger towards Ryan for betraying me and tearing our family apart. I couldn't comprehend how someone who claimed to loved his daughter would be capable of such cruelty. Gripping onto Karl's arm tightly, I knew we had to stay strong for Selene's sake.
" Where is she now?" I asked eagerly, " She is at the police station, I came over so we can go pick her up."
I raced to the room and grabbed my phone, " we should go then." I responded eagerly and headed to his car, Karl followed me and we both entered his car and he drove hurrily to the station. On our way there, my mind wondered to the fact that an officer had just been to my house prior to Karl's arrival and told me that had nothing.
" How did they find her?" I asked him, he smiled mischeviously, " I don't think you want to know."
I was puzzled by his response but decided not to ask any more questions. Selene was safe and would soon be home and that was all that mattered.
We got to the police station, My heart brimmed with pure elation at the sight of my daughter, we rushed towards each other and she embraced me as soon as she got to where I was.
" I miss you baby." I told her as tears flowed freely down my cheeks. " I missed you too mummy." She responded as she rushed to embrace Karl too.
The atmosphere was thick with relief as we embraced each other, Selene nestled safely in my embrace and Ryan taken away by the hands of justice. It felt like a dream, too surreal to truly comprehend. After countless hardships and challenges, this moment of respite filled my heart with an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude. It was an opportunity for us to start anew, to mend what had been broken beyond repair.
" We should go home." I said as we all walked to the car, excitement bubbling inside me. My daughter was safe and sound. I thought I had lost her but thank goodness she was safe and here with me again
The weight of the world seemed to lift off my shoulders. I held Selene close as we walked to the car. Her presence a reminder of the strength and resilience we possessed. We had overcome the unimaginable, emerging on the other side with scars but also with newfound hope. With Ryan's arrest, justice had prevailed and our faith in it restored. It was a turning point in our lives-a chance to rebuild what had been shattered and create a future filled with love and happiness. I couldn't be any more happier.
