Chapter 64 Chapter 64
Chapter 64 Chapter 64
Darian pushed open the hospital room door gently, with Averie at his side.
The old man, pale but conscious, stared at them with stern, disappointed eyes. The air around them tightened.
His voice was low, but held harshness and disappointment.
“My trusted grandson! How many times must this happen again? It's becoming hard to trust your words. Did you really go this far just to secure my fortune?”
Averie linked her fingers with Darian, her heart sinking.
Darian’s grip on her hand tightened protectively, with an assuring look.
The old man’s gaze shifted to Averie next.
“And you… Are you truly pregnant, or is this another scheme?”
She felt her throat close at the accusation. She opened her mouth but no sound came. Instead, Darian stepped forward calmly, lifting both of his grandfather’s hands.
“Grandfather, I need you to listen carefully. Don’t believe everything you see online.”
He pulled out his phone, swiped through the screenshots, and zoomed in on the forged contract.
“Look. No seal, no official stamp, not even the standard formatting.”
He pointed sharply. Fortunately, he only drafted out the contract for fun with no legal seal on it.
“Just handwriting that barely resembles mine. And hers.”
The old man squinted, his brows furrowed deeper the longer he stared. He looked away after seeing reasons, guilty and annoyed either way.
Darian added, voice darkening:
“Someone forged this. Someone who wants this family destroyed.”
He glanced at his Averie “And I’ll handle them.”
The old man exhaled shakily, tension easing just a little.
“But… the pregnancy?” he pressed.
Averie straightened, trying to find her voice but Darian answered on her behalf, his voice soft but firm:
“Then let’s confirm it. Properly.”
The nurse came over to escort Averie for another test, and after several tense minutes, returned with the fresh report.
Darian Graham placed it in his grandfather’s hands. And his old man’s cloudy eyes scanned the paper for a while before it softened.
He slowly gestured for Averie to approach. She hesitated, then stepped closer to him.
The old man took her hand with surprising gentleness “Thank you,” he said quietly, voice cracking.
“For staying by my stubborn grandson’s side.”
Averie felt emotional by how well and high the grandfather holds her. She let out a hot exhale, holding back her tears.
Darian brought out his phone and sent to his assistant; “I want that reporter's details in ten minutes” he was ready to start fishing for the culprit.
“Spend time with him,” he murmured. “I’ll take care of everything else.”
He kissed Averie’s forehead lightly and walked out of the room.

He arrived at the reporter’s cheap office with cold, powerful steps.
He was with Jayden who looked more like a security guard with his burly structure.
When he recognized the young richest CEO in his presence, he froze. He was surprised at how quickly he found his small company.
The reporter paled, shifting back in fear “Wh…what’s this? I only wrote what I received…”
Darian didn’t even raise his voice, “You risked my wife’s life. You nearly killed my grandfather.” He leaned closer, eyes sharp like blades.
“I can shut down this entire office with a single signature and make sure you never work again.”
The reporter trembled at his threatening words.
While Darian placed a tempting envelope of money on the desk, his eyes traced it hesitantly.
“Delete the post and retract your story. Tell me who gave you that gossip.”
The reporter stared at the envelope and caved in instantly.
“It… It was a maid! The one working in your mansion! We’ve been working together for years…” he confessed.
Darian muttered a “Oh” Now he knows how those scandals of his leaked out easily in the past.
“And she said she got it from…” The reporter paused.
“Say her name,” Darian demanded.
“Mrs. Lauren Graham!”
The reporter whispered as if the walls had ears.
Darian’s assistant, Jayden was standing by the door. He revealed his phone.
“Confession recorded, sir.”
Darian straightened and brushed off his suit.
“Good. You’ll get the money.”He stepped toward the exit.
“And one more thing, prepare to interview my wife and me.”

Back at the hospital, cameras were set up outside a private waiting room.
The reporter, now sweating and overly polite, pointed the mic toward Darian and Averie.
Darian wrapped his arm around Averie protectively.
“Everything posted online was false,” He addressed the public directly.
“A fabricated contract and a malicious attempt to taint my family name.”
Averie nodded softly beside him;
“I have no reason to deceive anyone,” she said.
“Anyone who knows us knows the truth.”
Comments flooded the livestream:
“We support you Averie!”
“Some people are wicked!”
“Glad you both cleared the air.”
“Get well soon, Grandpa Graham!”
The reporter bowed deeply as they left.
Later, Darian and his wife walked through the hospital corridors quietly. He held her hand the entire way.
“Are you okay?” he whispered.
“Yes,” Averie said. “Why won’t I be okay when I’ve got a protector right here” She giggled, playfully sizing Darian’s biceps.
Darian stopped, pulled her into his chest, and held her tightly.
“I told you,” he murmured into her hair.
“I will protect you. No matter what. You’ll be untouchable”
Averie’s smile suddenly went faint. Her eyes were rather fixed on Darian who looked confused about the sudden change in her mood.
“What's wrong? Are you comfortable? Is it the baby” he asked, panicking as he examined her body all around.
Averie laughed with tears in her eyes “I’m okay” she smiled.
“Why are you crying?” He wiped her tears.
“Everything just feels surreal. We were previously just the timid employee and snobby cold boss… but here we are…” she said in an appreciative tone.
“You were probably the only one who thinks like that. It was just the pretentious boss and his office crush” he added with his serious face which makes him seem unbelievable.
“I have one more secret to tell you” Averie raised her finger to her lips, giggling. She stepped out of Darian’s grasp and said “I might have snooped into your secret room” she confessed.
“What?” Darian exclaimed and Averie yelped. She ran.

Far across the city, Lauren Graham sat with a glass of wine, smirking as she scrolled through her phone until she saw it.
A LIVE INTERVIEW.
From the same reporter she bribed.
Darian is defending Averie and the public is siding with them. The truth was exposed.
Her face darkened and the wine glass cracked in her hand.
“No… no, no, NO!” Lauren shouted, slamming her phone on the table.
“How dare that useless reporter turn against me!”
She snatched her phone again and dialed furiously.
After several rings;
“Carmine,” She hissed into the phone.
“Why is our new plan taking this long? Why are you dragging this?” she rasped.
“It’s not an easy decision for me to make… You know that.” Carmine’s worried voice sounded.
Lauren’s voice dropped to a dangerous whisper.
“I need results. Immediately.”
