Chapter Thirty-Nine - They Really Do Want To Get Rid Of Me
(Hey, everyone, sorry for the lack of updates, but had a lot going on. The new schedule for this book will be updates on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. It was supposed to start yesterday, but didn't get around to it.)

Everly

Orson and I arrive late at the office. He decided to join me in the shower, and things went from there. Yes, I agreed to our sexual arrangement, but the plan was not to jump into it straight away; give me time to make sure I was doing the right thing. I was doing well until he was naked in front of me, and I lost all control. I hate that he can make me break like that.

“I can’t believe you made us late.” I groan as we step into the elevator.

He doesn’t answer, not straight away, but the second the doors close, Orson presses my back to the wall and his body against mine. “I didn’t hear you complaining when my cock was buried in your pussy, sweetness.” He smirks.

I moan, squeezing my thighs together. I pull it together and am ready to defend myself, but before I can, his lips crash down on mine. I try to fight it, take control back, but it doesn’t last long. I am kissing back within seconds. It heats up quickly, and both of us forget for a moment where we are. We get lost in it. The sudden clearing of someone’s throat is the only thing that makes us part, both laughing because we got caught.

Our laughing soon stopped when we saw who it was.

“Dad, what are you doing here?” Orson snaps.

“Could you be any more unprofessional?” he snaps back.

Orson takes a few steps away from me and gets out of the elevator before the doors close on us.

“What can I say, I can’t keep my hands off her. I will ask again, what are you doing here?” he asks through gritted teeth.

“The workplace isn’t the place for such behaviour. We need to talk business. Everly leave.” He says, hissing my name.

I clench my fists at my sides, drawing in a breath before I open my mouth and say things that won’t be pleasant for me to say.

“Do not talk to my fiancée like that. She doesn’t need to go anywhere.”

I place my hand on Orson’s chest. “It is fine, my love,” I say, kissing his cheek and walking away before I punch his father. He has one of those faces that if I started punching it, I wouldn’t want to stop. I am not a violent person.

Orson will tell me what is going on anyway. Even if he doesn’t need to, he will. I head to the office to drop my things off before going to the breakroom to get us a coffee for when he returns. Hopefully, he won’t be too long. When I enter the breakroom, a couple of people are talking, but they fall silent when I step in.

I roll my eyes, ignoring them. They need to get over it. I walk by them, going to the coffee machine and make two. The one in Orson’s office is busted. He needs a new one.

“Don’t you all have something better to talk about yet? It is getting old. You all need to get over it.” I laugh as I walk back and exit.

I don’t care what they think. It is annoying. I return to the office and get to work as I wait for Orson. He returns fifteen minutes later, looking stressed out.

“What happened?”

“A new business opportunity has come up, and he wants me to transfer there. The business is in Japan. He wants to ship me off to Japan. Oh, the catch, I end things with you. If I do that, not only will I be in charge, but I will earn millions.” He sighs, tossing himself down on the sofa.

I scoff. Does his family want rid of me that much? They really do hate anyone who doesn’t follow their rules and sticks up for themselves against them. I stroll over, taking the seat next to him on the sofa.

“Are you going to take the offer? I know it is their way of trying to break us up, but it would be a great opportunity.”

“No, I am not going. No chance in hell. He is basically trying to take control over me once again. I am not going. He can find someone else.”

I nod, not saying anything more about it. What he does is none of my business.

“Do they really want rid of me that much?”

“Yes, but it doesn’t matter. It won’t be happening.” He shrugs.

If I had such an opportunity, I would take it, but as he said, it is his father’s way of trying to take control of him again.

“Okay. We should get to work. I did get you a coffee, but it will be cold now.”

“Thanks, I will get one later.”

I left him in his office to work and got on with mine. I wonder what they plan on doing next to try to get him away from me. Who knows, but whatever it is, it won’t work. Orson is too stubborn. I wouldn’t be surprised if they come after me next, try to find a way for me to leave him. It would be tempting, but that wouldn’t work either. I can’t get out of this, not if I want my past life to stay secret, something I am still worried about in case his family finds out the truth. There would be no way of getting out of that one.

Sighing, I rest back on my seat. My life was not supposed to be this way, but here I am. It is better than the one I had before. At least I am not selling myself to make money. Well, technically, I am selling myself to Orson, but just not in the same way I was before. Then again, we are having sex now, so I may as well be doing the things I was. Groaning, I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths, clearing my mind of everything else and focusing only on my work.
